21.01.2022 Half of working Australians earn < than $57,000 a year. Elizabeth Minter reports on the government’s strange plan to flatten taxes so that everybody who earns ...between $45,000 - $200,000 pays the same rate of tax. Just think about the type of worker who earns at the bottom of the scale. It is highly likely to be a part time worker, Uni student, a women or someone like a cleaner, aged care/childcare worker,Uber driver, shelf stacker etc Think about how much money you made last year. Where do you think that puts you in relation to other Australian workers? Top 25% of income earners or the Bottom 25%? Somewhere in between? I’d wager that you would say somewhere in the middle , most Australians do. Some 92% say they are in the middle of 60% of all income earners. While 50% think they are in the middle 20% of incomes according to a study by ANU researcher Christopher Hoy. How much do most actually earn? Politicians like to refer to AVERAGE incomes but this is highly misleading. Average incomes are skewed to the high end due to the exorbitant wages of company CEOs like bank bosses, the heads of BHP,RIO Qantas etc Much more informative is the Median income the midpoint of ALL salaries earned by Australians. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the median salary was $57,000. Some 50% of working Australians earn less and 50% earn more than this amount. Tax cuts are reportedly the centre-piece of the government’s plan to get the economy back and growing again. As has been widely noted, the chief beneficiaries of flattening the tax scales will be MEN who earn high salaries and have not been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. How can the LNP Coalition government proceed with such a policy that goes against any concept of fairness or decency? Legislation that Labor has also supported. With the base salary of a backbench Federal MP at $211,250 plus entitlements the only charitable explanation I have is that in the Canberra bubble, politicians have completely lost sight of what most people in the real economy earn. From the ATO’s figures ONLY 3.4% of all workers, mainly men, earn more than $180,001 (2017-18). Federal MPs, on their $211,000 base salaries, are clearly in a very rarefied atmosphere. Yet Hoy’s research has shown that when it comes to money there’s a tendency for all of us to assume our own experience is typical. Many of the survey respondents, rich and poor, were wildly wrong about how their earnings compared. "
21.01.2022 While the 'welfare apple' and 'infrastructure orange' easily roll our economy into recovery, the 'tax cut banana', well, it doesn't do much, does it. (Click/tap to enlarge)

21.01.2022 Who wants action on climate? The majority of Australians. Who is blocking it? Scott Morrison and his climate denying colleagues. Time to kick them out.
19.01.2022 David Littleproud to jobless Australians: "have a crack" at picking fruit and vegetables. Carolyn Lake in response: Dude. I am f****** happy to pick fruit.... 1) The jobs still really aren't there. 2) Who will pay my rent while I'm out on a farm? Or pay to break my lease and store my stuff? 3) Where do I live when doing this? (And is it safe?) And how much of my wage is taken for it? 4) After the six week season is over, where do I go? 5) Am I given assistance to relocate to a new regional town and season? Or given help to pay a bond back home? 6) Do I try and trade in my 2011 hatchback for a 20 year old van I could sleep in the back of? And keep all my possessions in? 7) These aren't rhetorical questions. The job market is what it is. And it's f****** scary and stressful. We're not unwilling to work. Just. How? 8) And this all assumes we're chill with taking vulnerable people away from their homes, community, and healthcare, to go work on isolated farms with little protection from exploitation and abuse. 9) but, HOMES, COMMUNITY, and HEALTHCARE. That's what you're asking someone to leave to pick fruit for six weeks. The safety and security of homes (HOME), support networks, and access to health care. 10) Oh, you're poor (and there are no jobs!), but you take solace in the love of a pet and some regular family friend dinners? NO MORE. Out to the farm you go and leave behind ... everything that makes this bearable. 11) Our agricultural industry has been run on slave labour from the start. From blackbirding in the 19C to this. 77 Tongans living in a five bedroom house to pick fruit. And being charged for it twitter.com/CarolynLake/st Would your long term unemployment stress be relieved by sharing a room with 14 other people? Would that help your (likely inevitable) mental health situation? But, you got a job, right? 400km from home but it's a A Job! 19.01.2022 Q. Will this change anything? Will anyone be held accountable? Will anyone else fall victim? A. It must. There must. There must not be.
17.01.2022 #ALERTThe Morrison Government has signaled that it plans to bring the Cashless Debit Card legislation to a vote in the Senate next Wednesday - the day after the federal budget while everyone is distracted!ACTION: CALL JACQUI LAMBIE:
17.01.2022 Seriously? These selfish, idiotic morons are happy to risk EVERYTHING that all Victorians have sacrificed so much to achieve during the last three months? They should have the book thrown at them. However we all know what will happen, they will cause infection rates to once again skyrocket and then the Murdoch media and the LNP will use that as yet another opportunity to continue their disgusting ‘bash Dan’ strategy in order to further their own political ends. https://thenewdaily.com.au//coronavirus-risk-victoria-sut/
15.01.2022 Just how seriously he has it is anyone’s guess. Whatever the case he will, I’m sure’ twist it to his own advantage unless it is life threating. If it is mild, he will make himself into the it couldn’t defeat me man and continue with his propaganda. https://theaimn.com/potus-and-flotus-getting-it-together/
15.01.2022 YOUR assistance is URGENTLY needed to stop the further roll out of the privatisation of Social Security via the Cashless Welfare Card forced income management scheme. This scheme strips away people’s rights and must be stopped. Please share this article as far and as wide as you can. We need to reach as many people as possible. Hopefully many will email or phone the cross benchers to implore them to vote AGAINST this abomination on Wednesday, at the very least many more people will get to see what the truth really is when it comes to the cashless welfare card and forced income management. https://theaimn.com/forced-income-management-the-cashless-/
13.01.2022 Liberal Party in 2019: Manufacturing is shit - it just becomes a hotbed for unionism and they never vote for us - let’s do everything to decimate it. Liberal Party in 2020: How good is Manufacturing! We LOVE Manufacturing!
09.01.2022 Please take the time to do a quick phone call. The Cashless Welfare Card forced income management scheme is advertised as being a way to stop people using social security benefits/pensions on alcohol, gambling products and drugs, but not to worry as everything else is business as usual. Nothing could be further from the truth. It restricts so much more than that, it is not just like an ordinary debit card in any other way....Continue reading
09.01.2022 Scott Morrison couldn't even read his own department's (at the time) website to see the big problem with the concept of robo-debt. Even the department of Human Services' own website warned against using annualised figures, given that Centrelink payments are calculated on a fortnightly basis. Morrison pressed on anyway because his mentality was that if you don't vote Liberal he simply doesn't give a shit about you. #WeToldYouSo
08.01.2022 If they have nowhere to live, they won't.
05.01.2022 How bitterly dispiriting it is when the hearts and minds of our politicians are so utterly corrupted by this virus of political lies, but more demoralising it is that ordinary people catch the same infection. https://theaimn.com/who-protects-us-from-the-government/

03.01.2022 So, Morrison is taking up chicken farming eh? Now what could be the most logical reason behind that? https://www.facebook.com/101546263223119/posts/3616196951758015/
