08.01.2022 Queensland has 37 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) raising the state total to 221. The patients are aged between one and 75. Metro North Hos...pital and Health Service has 16 new confirmed cases. Metro South Hospital and Health Service has 6 new confirmed cases. Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service has 5 new confirmed cases. Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service has 5 new confirmed cases. Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service has 4 new confirmed case. Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service has 1 new confirmed case. Contact tracing is underway for these new cases. Queensland Health will notify the community if any other public health alerts are required. Contact tracing update: A 39-year-old male who was at Rick Shores restaurant in Burleigh Heads on Friday 13 March between midday and 1.30pm, has tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Queensland Health is calling for people who attended the restaurant during that 90 minute period to monitor their health and see a doctor immediately if they develop any symptoms. While the risk is very low, a small number of people who sat near this case could potentially have been exposed. The man was asymptomatic when he attended the restaurant but developed symptoms 24 hours later. There is no risk to anyone who has been to this restaurant before or after this period. Anyone with questions or concerns can contact 13 HEALTH. The majority of cases are from patients who have travelled overseas, or have had direct contact with a confirmed case who had travelled overseas. The number of confirmed cases we see each day is expected to vary as we continue to respond to the COVID-19 situation across the state. We want everyone to know they can play their part to protect themselves and the more vulnerable in our community. Ensure you are practicing good hygiene and staying home if you’re sick.
