21.01.2022 Congratulations DG David Triffet (Tasmania 201T1) on being elected as Council Chairperson 2020/2021 from all In District 201C1 David and his wife Carolyn have b...een married for 40 years and have a son and daughter with 2 beautiful grandchildren. David began his working life as an apprentice motor mechanic at Motors Pty Ltd in 1967 after completing high school in that same year. David has undertaken many roles in Lions at Club level, District level and National level while continuing to pursue an interest in amateur radio, safety boating and the exploits of the Collingwood Football Club. David’s contribution to his community through Lions has been recognised with a number of awards. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Tasmanian Lions Foundation Fellow and in 2009 was named the City of Glenorchy Citizen of the Year.

19.01.2022 We all need to be mindful of this & remember kindness matters: "Imagine that you are a famous musician or an actor: and that after a concert or a theatre perf...ormance you receive a hundred or so letters or emails congratulating and thanking you. But there in this large amount of post you find a single unpleasant letter/email. What happens? All the expressions of esteem and admiration will be overshadowed by this one negative letter/email, which acts like a poison. There is just one poisonous letter/email, and the others, in spite of their much greater number, are not able to neutralise it. So do give that plenty of thought, and when you need to write to someone, blaming or criticising them, be careful to weigh all your words. A letter/email is something very important; if you are not aware of this, you are likely to cause a great deal of damage in other people's lives, as well as destroying many good things in your own life." To be careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise to build up and not destroy Borrowed from Elvio Munzone

14.01.2022 Message from LCI: The Board of Directors has voted to cancel the 2020 Lions International Convention due to concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19). This mean...s that the next International Convention will be held in 2021 in Montreal, Canada. After evaluating a variety of different options including moving the convention to a different venue or postponing the convention to a later date, the Board of Directors voted to cancel the 2020 convention. This decision was made with the health and safety of our Lions, staff and vendors in mind. Canceling the International Convention for 2020 impacts international officer continuity and candidate elections. After review of the International Constitution and By-Laws, this impact is outlined below: Executive officers and international directors will continue in their respective positions until the 2021 convention in Montreal. All candidate elections for these positions shall comply with the provisions of the International Constitution and By-Laws for election at the convention in Montreal. An international director from the areas of Africa and Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and the Islands of the South Pacific is permitted only in even-numbered years. As a result, no director from Africa or Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and the Islands of the South Pacific would be eligible for election until the 2022 convention. Barring any district election complaints, district governors, first vice district governors and second vice district governors elected during a convention of their respective districts will be accepted by Lions International. The International Board of Directors intends to authorize commencement of the DG terms beginning July 1, 2020. We are disappointed that we will not be able to move forward with this international event, but we are optimistic that with each new day there is hope, and as Lions we will continue to find new ways to put our kindness in action while safely serving our communities. Regards, Dr. Jung-Yul Choi International President

08.01.2022 In times of uncertainty, it's important to still feel connected to our members and communities. As we advise all clubs to follow the government's official advic...e and adhere to social distancing, face-to-face meetings may not be possible over the coming months. But this does not have to mean that we lose touch with fellow members and friends. Over the coming days we'll be sharing some ideas for staying connected during this time. Our first tip is an easy one and it's all about keeping those lines of communication open. Utilise free video conferencing technology like Zoom, FaceTime or Skype to hold meetings or catch up with family and friends. Or if these aren't an option for you - simply offer to be that listening ear that many might be needing right now. How is your club planning to stay connected? #WeServe #StayConnected See more
