14.01.2022 Importance of blood testing It is highly recommended prior to anesthesia to have a pre-anesthesia blood test as it allows the vet to have more extensive knowledge on your pet. It will identify any unseen diseases which will reduce the likelihood of complications during anesthesia.... As humans we are recommended by our doctors to have a blood test once a year , usually your first blood test gives baseline values and from there the doctor is able to see any changes. This same should be established for your pets regular testing will allow the vet to to detect diseases before clinical signs are apparent and will allow your pet to benefit as preventative/ prolonged health medicine can be administered therefore often lessens the cost of treatment. It will provide you peace of mind as a pet owner , as you are doing everything possible to ensure a positive outcome for your pet's procedure. Pre-surgical testing is fast , easy and affordable. Give us a call on 8798 4859 for more information.

14.01.2022 The older a pet gets, the more likely mobility issues can occur. The change in weather often sees pets slow down. Arthritis in pets can be quite painful If your pet is struggling to get out of bed then it could be a sign of arthritis or an age related disease. Often these problems are provoked by cold weather and we recommend 6 monthly check-ups particularly if your pet is showing signs of ageing. Winter’s cold weather and low humidity conditions can cause your skin to become... dry and uncomfortable. This also affects dogs and cats, despite their layer of fur for protection. In fact, winter skin and coat problems are a common concern for pet owners. Indoor heating can dry out the air and circulate allergens throughout your home. Just as you may take extra steps to keep your skin healthy when the weather turns cool, we’ve put together some tips for your pets too. Ongoing medication , proper diet and a veterinary tailored exercise regime depending on your pets situation. At Moorebank Vet Hospital we provide the ultimate service tailored to each individual pet depending on the age , breed , type and situation of the pet with this we are able to minimise the impact of arthritis. Please get into contact with us if you have any concerns regarding your pet and the colder months ahead of us contact us on 8798 6242. Moorebank Vet Hospital Team
