24.01.2022 What flies are you fishing with this weekend Jaybee? Buggered if I know! (Prize for anyone who guesses which one hooks up first - you have a one in 28 chance )

21.01.2022 It has arrived. Looks fantastic. Now to build it in time for some summer fishing.

15.01.2022 Today’s research trip to Ebor. One real fish, but others which were smaller than the suicidal cicadas floating downstream don’t really count (do they?). Still Connan managed to celebrate his monster with a glass of fine wine.

13.01.2022 Last carp of the year I think, the team caught a trio and El Presidente's son snagged a fabulous Tilapia. All banked. We'll be back in the new year to support your awesome efforts Logan & Albert Fish Management Association

12.01.2022 'Twas the Night before Borumba, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The tackle was gathered, the boat was now full, With hopes that by weekend the Toga would pull; The anglers were nestled all snug in the dry;... Dreaming of striking Saratoga on fly... See more

11.01.2022 Going back to where my adventure started! My first fish on fly was caught at Lowood bend on my first ever outing to a river holding a long rod! The book said that fish hang around rocks so I managed to land a cast just in front of that one in the background (I spent most of the morning in tangles amongst the long grass), and this greedy Spangled Perch smashed it. It's easy this fly fishing game I thought to myself. Needless to say, that fish remains the largest I've caught in... Qld So come out to Lowood tomorrow at 8am and listen to our experts (not me!) edumucate us in the art of stream craft. It's more about listening than casting so we will walk the bank and learn everything we need to make our adventures more successful. Do bring a rod along if you would like to use your new found expertise after the demonstration! Turn off the Brisbane Valley Highway onto Wivenhoe Pocket road at the far south of Twin Bridges Reserve and meet us by the river. Its's a COVID Safe event, so signing in is a must. Members and guests are all very welcome! Jaybee

10.01.2022 Ebor weather about to turn nasty (apparently). Now to take advantage and land a few rainbows.

10.01.2022 Ok,ok. I know I’m a couple of days late with the update. But Saturdays haul was another couple of well conditioned rainbows out the back of Dorrigo on another almost perfect day. Plus did some exploring so that we have some good spots for the club trip in March. Thanks to Jonno for driving us down, to Jezza for prompting the trip and to Anna for throwing open the borders.

09.01.2022 It was a fine weekend of exploration for Gavin and Jaybee who went on a couple of float tube outings on our local lakes. Enoggera was pretty busy with locals escaping the heat, but yielded a small and feisty bass under the skillful rod work of Gavin with plenty more lurking beneath. Lake Samsonvale saw the a couple of spangled perch come to life on the northern reaches, tempted by none other than the Jaybee's very own deadly breadly which is turning out to be a useful surface fly for many species. If you area financial member and want to go float tubing, we have three club toobs for you to loan and we will be delighted to induct you into this very pleasant way of getting onto the waters :)

08.01.2022 What another cracker of a day. Many thanks to Peter Woods and Jonno Smith who took us through some stream craft on the Brisbane River. We now have no excuse when confronting a river for trout or in our case bass. Great to see some new faces in the club join us also. A platapus also joined us later in the day, testifying to the health of the river up near Fernvale.

08.01.2022 Well we have to don't we?! After Geoff so fantastically donated half an Alpacas worth of multi coloured tying material of which many of us managed to grab a few bags worth at Sundays fishathon, it seems only reasonable that we have an Alpaca shaped theme night for the club's Fly Tie on Zoom this evening (usual time, usual place for members). Got any great patterns or dressing techniques? Share them below :)

03.01.2022 Carpe Diem! Well, seize the carp at least. BFFC members have unlocked the secrets to carp fishing at lake Wyaralong (beside Boonah) and for the last few weeks have been landing these magnificent fish in impressive numbers. Simon set us going at a our last club outing with the excellent help of Spotter Mike D since then the flood gates have opened with Gavin, Simon, Jaybee and Mick D making return visits to hook up on and land many many more.... Wyaralong is an awesome fishery thanks to the efforts of the Logan & Albert Fish Management Association and we are doing our best to catch as many carp as possible. Ask the team for hint's and tips to lock into these monster fish - spoiler alert, they will snap 10lb tippet with the shake of a head as Jaybee found on his first two of eight hookups this morning!

03.01.2022 Some more Carpy capers this morning as Mick D, Marcus and Jaybee headed out to Wyaralong with a fist full of woolly buggers and a head full of dreams. No doughnuts today, everyone got on the tally and our strike to landing ratio is improving with every visit. The lake went pretty quiet after 11am as the thermometer hit the high thirties, so if you plan to venture out, make it early!
