24.01.2022 We have had an awesome weekend at the Tucka Shack, thanks so much of course to our regular and loyal locals; thanks also to those visitors who come every year for the open Golf Carnival for your continued support; to the junior rugby league parents for stopping in on your way to and from 'the Ridge' for the last game of the season for your little guys; and those in town for the camp draft thank you all! I also had a lovely impromptu catch up with 2 of my classmates from years 1-10 arriving separately in the cafe at the same time, they haven't seen each other since school. ahh lovely being 'home' in Dirran. #Dirranbandi #dirran #dirranbandicommunityhub #thetuckashack

22.01.2022 Jan and David it was lovely to meet you in The Tucka Shack today. For all you Dirranites of old anyone know the McCarthy family. Of course I knew Jack and family, but not the earlier McCarthy family. Jan is the daughter of Margaret Robertson who is the daughter of Helen Robertson (nee McCarthy) who is the daughter of Louisa McCarthy. Helen was born in Dirranbandi 1909. Jan was visiting where some of her family roots are.

22.01.2022 Nice little write up about the Balonne Shire in the paper on the weekend thanks to our friend Phil Hawkes! #thetuckashack #dirranbandicommunityhub #dirran #dirranbandi #balonneshire

21.01.2022 Come on let’s get behind Teresa and donate to our hospital auxiliary! Teresa is riding a push bike from St George to Dirranbandi. thanks to those who have donated since this post!! to others please donate!! Teresa is hoping to raise $20000 to go towards an ultrasound machine to assist with emergency diagnosis and to reduce travel for the community, as well as some blinds and lounge to go into the aged care area for our residents to enjoy the verandah all year round.

18.01.2022 Speaking of exDirranites and family... my ‘Godbrother’ (well his parents were my Godparents) was in town for the golf too! Great to catch up in person instead of fb Peter!

18.01.2022 Another 2 people in two days retracing their family steps in Dirran. So pleased I could help connect some dots last night and show pics of family in school pics and connect family today! And I worked with this lady’s (Christine) niece in Brisbane small old world! #dirran #exdirranites #tuckashack

10.01.2022 Didn't beat our early morning pizza record of 7:00am but 8:00 am is still early! It's never too early for a Tucka Shack pizza!!

06.01.2022 We have finally farewelled the Army guys this morning, who have been with us for some months now. It has been an absolute pleasure to have them around in Dirran and The Tucka Shack. This group of lovely gents from 1st regiment have been here since July thanks a million and for the certificate, it is greatly appreciated.

02.01.2022 Those who have lived in Dirranbandi 30+years ago will know that The Tucka Shack is located in the Bank of NSW building-still complete with safe in the volt room. Well this morning I've taken a picture of the house also connected to this building- the Bank Managers home. Today it is up on a truck ready for removal to a new resting place. Thought you might be interested. It has some fire damage on the right hand side from the 'old postmaster's' residence' beside it being burnt down a little while ago. #dirranbandicommunityhub #thetuckashack #dirranbandi #dirran

02.01.2022 This has been a week of returning Dirranites!!! First Leroy Dean and Tony Wall, Brian ‘Fudgie’ Crumblin, Frank Bunyan, Sharon (Heaghney) and Terry Nolan and today Dennis Ruthenberg who’s photo is in school centenary book year 8 1962! Looking forward to one of my best mates from year 1-10 coming on Sunday too!!!

02.01.2022 Thinking of our neighbours in Mungindi today, losing their main shops in town overnight drought, flood Covid now fire.
