25.01.2022 Cancellation of the Birthday Luncheon Due to restrictions being reimposed and the uncertainty about the RSL being able to accommodate us, the Executive of the Association Committee has decided that the Birthday Lunch for 2020 is to be cancelled. If we just postpone the luncheon we could not guarantee any future date if the infections were to continue.... Just keep in mind that we are planning a great event for the Wangaratta Reunion this year. It is a year of milestones - the Battalion left Australia 80 years ago and arrived in the Middle East, 75 years ago the Battalion fought its last engagement in Tarakan. And, it is 80 years since the end of World War 2. Think about joining us on the weekend after Cup Day.

25.01.2022 Key changes to events for the 2/24th. * shrine services (for 9th div and 2/24th) will both be online and *not* in person this year * our usual November Wangaratta reunion is going to be moved to Anzac day weekend next year (cross fingers and covid permitting)

21.01.2022 No March or Luncheon this year but we will all be doing whatever we can at Home in our driveways, Balconies & Gardens #Standto #2/24th #I Hold Fast #Lest We Forget

18.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY 2020 Every year at 11am on 11 Novemberthe eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh monthwe pause to remember those men and women who have died or suffered in all wars, conflicts and peace operations. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. As the world welcomed peace, thousands returned home to much fanfare, and their loved ones. Thousands more never made the journey home.... While we are unable to mark this year’s Remembrance Day by gathering together at the Shrine, we invite you to honour the memory of homecoming, reunion and sacrifice and join us online for a commemorative broadcast at 10.45 am, live-streamed on the Shrine's Facebook and Youtube channels. Or tune into the RSL Victoria Facebook page live from 10.45am Wednesday for the State Remembrance Service from the Shrine of Remembrance. #remembertoremember

04.01.2022 At 92, Jack Jones is a mainstay of Anzac Day parades and is the last surviving digger from the 24th Infantry Battalion which served in New Guinea and Bougainville. #9News | http://9News.com.au

04.01.2022 Vale Bob Semple VX 25240 2/12 Field Artillery Regiment Bob was President of the Rats of Tobruk and a friend of the 2/24 Battalion. He fought alongside the diggers of the 2/24 in Tobruk, and would relate how the 2/24 stopped Rommel from reaching the town of Tobruk when Rommel broke through defence lines on 1 May 1941.... Bob was a true gentleman; a great raconteur who had a prodigious memory of his wartime service. The 2/24 Association was honoured to know him and to share times with him at our 70th and 75th Anniversary Reunions. A life well lived, a life of service and a member of a generation of diggers who were a ‘breed apart’. Rest well dear friend.

02.01.2022 The passing of Doug 'Dobby' Dobson Doug passed away peacefully at 7am this morning. He served in the Middle East, arriving with the last reinforcements and then served through the Pacific theatre. He was one of the first Secretaries of the Battalion Association, and the last digger to be President.... Under the present lockdown, attendance at the funeral will according to the numbers limited by the rules.
