On arrival P224 found the residents of a property attempting to extinguish a fire which had taken hold in a wall cavity.... P224 crew extinguished the remaining fire in the cavity, checked for any hot spots with our thermal imaging camera and also tested the the atmosphere in the house with the gas detector for any toxic smoke given off by the burning wall. Once the all clear was given the residents returned to the home. The residents were alerted to this fire by a working smoke alarm. 10.01.2022 As the COVID-19 pandemic changes the way we go about our lives, our firefighters and support staff continue to ensure we remain prepared for anything. Our firefighters in Berry are community members who live and work here, responding to calls when they happen from their normal careers. We have to remain fit and healthy for the good of the community. Any member of our community contracting COVID-19 will result in significant disruption to our lives - it affects your... families and those around you, impact schools where your kids play and learn, disrupt your work lives as well as colleagues in that workplace, and it will have significant negative effect on our tourism economy. For firefighters it will reduce our ability to respond when you need us. Today, we would like to ask for your help. You may see our firefighters wearing a mask, we'd appreciate it if you could also wear yours if we visit your home or workplace. Together we can control this, and we’ll beat it. Fire and Rescue NSW

10.01.2022 Are you one of the many Australians that loves to go for long drives with your feet on the dash?? Well this video is for you! Every year, passengers sustain un...necessary injuries from travelling like this. Their legs are forced back at awkward angles into their face and chest in a matter of milliseconds. Please, watch this video and remind your family and friends about the importance of keeping your feet off the dash. See more

10.01.2022 MVA PERSON TRAPPED 11.52am Late this morning P224 responded to a very difficult entrapment of 2 persons, when a truck and a utility collided head on. Once on scene P224 immediately set up for fire suppression. P440 Shoalhaven also responded and both crews liaised with NSW Ambulance to formulate a plan for the difficult extrication of the patients both in seperate vehicles.... FRNSW crews performed a strategic plan to stabilise both vehicles while Ambulance Rescue started extrications. The stabilisation of the truck was a little challenging given it’s position partially resting on the utility and a concrete barrier . After a two hour operation both agencies worked together to release the driver of the truck in challenging circumstances given the severity of entrapment. Great job by all involved

08.01.2022 Tonight Station 224 Berry conducted a Road crash Rescue scenario. Under the watchful eye of the Technical Rescue Vehicle from Fire and Rescue Station 503 Wollongong our crew brushed up on our extrication techniques, vehicle stabilisation, glass management and patient care. The scene was made somewhat more realistic with both cars being crushed prior to the exercise. Thank you to the crew from Station 503 for sharing with us your knowledge and capabilities of the TRV.

05.01.2022 Thursday 10 September is R U Ok? day HERE'S MORE TO SAY AFTER R U OK?' 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. In the lead-up to R U OK?Day we’ll help Australians know what to say when someone says they’re not OK and guide them through how they can continue a conversation that could change a life.... You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. Learn what to say after R U OK? please visit https://www.ruok.org.au/join-r-u-ok-day

01.01.2022 Don’t be a statistic! A fire can take hold in 3 minutes, it only takes seconds to prevent one. Frayed or damaged cords can start a fire. If you have taken your electric blankets out from storage, check that your electric blanket is in good working order before use....
