25.01.2022 Tomorrow morning at dawn, cadets from units in 22 AAC Bn will be commemorating Anzac Day. Although the event - at the edge of our driveways - will be very different this year, we will nonetheless do our utmost to uphold the spirit and values of ANZAC. Cadets: Send your photos via message (DMs) to your Units Facebook page (or to this Bn HQ Facebook page), where they will be compiled and shared. 201 Army Cadet Unit - Northern Beaches... 203 Australian Army Cadet Unit - Lancer Barracks 204 Army Cadet Unit, Parramatta/Dundas 206 Army Cadet Unit, North Sydney 226 Army Cadet Unit - Normanhurst 220 ACU Lithgow - Recruitment Information #LestWeForget #AnzacDay2020 #AnzacDay #WeWillRememberThem #WeRememberThem #AnzacAtHome

23.01.2022 226 Army Cadet Unit - Normanhurst and the Barker College Cadet Unit are some of the cadet units in our area who made considerable contributions to our area. 22.01.2022 AFX 2019, SATURDAY - 22 Bn cadets participated in a set of rotational activities to hone and revise field skills. Observation, tactics, navigation and concealment will be vital skills for this weeks upcoming 24 hour tactical exercise.
21.01.2022 Promotion: 01/20 Bn CPL Course Barracks Phase - completed. Over the weekend, cadet trainees learned and developed skills in lesson instruction, and were assessed on their delivery of a classroom lesson. With these skills, the future CDTCPLs are equipped to deliver lessons to inspire the next generation of Army Cadets. The weekend could not have gone ahead without the work and dedication of Adult Cadet Staff (ACS) and cadet staff. Our thanks CAPT (AAC) Wark, 2LT (AAC) Dakic, 2LT (AAC) Jackson and 2LT (AAC) Oldroyd; the cadet staff from 202 ACU, 203 ACU, 204 ACU, and 206 ACU; and LT (AAC) Morrell. As a Bn HQ element we rely on staff and cadets from our constituent units to make a promotion course happen. See you again in Phase 3 - Field Phase!
21.01.2022 All the best to our 22 Bn ATA candidates!
20.01.2022 At 11 am today the nation will pause for Remembrance Day, marking the 102nd anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War on 11 November 1918. Bet...ween 1914 and 1918 a newly federated Australia sent 414,000 of their citizens to face the horrors of modern industrialized war. By 1918, almost 62,000 Australians lay dead among the mud and destruction of the trenches in Europe, the sands of Sinai, Palestine and Syria. On this day each year, people across the nation observe a minute’s silence in memory of those who have died or suffered in war and on peacekeeping and humanitarian operations. The day will conclude with a moving Last Post Ceremony honouring the Unknown Australian Soldier, whose tomb rests in the Hall of Memory, and whose eulogy was first delivered by former Prime Minister Paul Keating in 1993. Visit our website for ways you can commemorate this Remembrance Day: https://www.awm.gov.au/werememberthem #RemembranceDay #WeRememberThem #LestWeForget Image: Service personnel and civilians stand on a street corner with heads bowed during the Armistice Day two minutes silence. 11 November 1943. 139925.
19.01.2022 22 BN Commanding Officer’s End of Year message 2020 Dear all, This year has been like no other in our lifetime. It began with catastrophic bushfires and was followed by the Covid-19 outbreak which quickly swept across the world.... I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been affected by the bushfires and this terrible virus and express my gratitude to you all. The effort and resilience you have shown during these trying times is amazing. I am proud to be apart of such an amazing team. Replacing Unit Parades with Zoom meetings and introducing Parades that support social distancing was easier said than done. With ingenuity, creativity and hard work you rose to the challenge of a completely different year of AAC activities. I wish you all moments of peace amid these still trying times and I hope that connections with family and friends even if they can’t be in person during these holidays are positive and enjoyable. Take heart; slowly but surely the pandemic will fade, so let’s welcome 2021 warmly. I wish you all a very safe and Merry Christmas and may the New Year bring good health, happiness and good fortune. A blessed festive season to all! Regards, Jarryd Horn Major (AAC) Commanding Officer 22 AAC BN - Sydney North

18.01.2022 Remembrance Day National Ceremony On 11 November 2020, the Australian War Memorial will hold a nationally televised Remembrance Day commemorative ceremony. In l...ight of the restrictions resulting from the pandemic, the format of the ceremony has been altered to ensure it complies with COVID-safe rules and will be attended by a limited number of invited guests; and broadcast live across Australia by the ABC and available later on ABC iview. As always, the service will include the laying of wreaths and a minute’s silence on the eleventh hour. At this time, the Australian public will be encouraged to safely pause in their homes, schools or workplaces to observe the minute’s silence to remember not only those lost, but all who came home and also those who follow in their footsteps. The Memorial will remain closed on the morning of Wednesday 11 November and will reopen to the public at the conclusion of the National Ceremony. Free timed tickets will be required to visit the galleries and will be available for sessions from 12.40 pm onwards. Tickets and visitor information can be found via the following link: www.awm.gov.au/visit #RemembranceDay #WeRememberThem
17.01.2022 Anzac Day Dawn at Home Driveway Vigil 2020 We may be commemorating and remembering the ANZACs a little differently this year, but this does not mean we will no...t stand. Our cadets have taken part in the Dawn at Home Driveway Vigil Service. Although we cannot stand together in person on this day, we stand together in spirit. All those who have served our country, past and present, are forefront in our hearts and minds on this day. 17.01.2022 RETURN TO PARADE: We're pleased to say that some of our units will be returning to parade in the upcoming weeks. Due to our location in Sydney, we are among some of the last Army Cadet units in Australia to return to parade. We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting news of recommencement. Following a vigorous approval process and with stringent controls in place, we are almost ready to reopen. Ensure you monitor your unit's comms channels for relevant information on your ACU's return-to-parade plans.

16.01.2022 Anzac Day Driveway Vigil 2020 Over many years Anzac Day has been supported and celebrated by our organisation through ceremonial parades country wide. Anzac Day is a meaningful way of showing thanks to the ANZACs, as well as all men and women who have and continue to serve our country. Despite the ongoing challenges we face through the global crises of COVID19 we encourage all Cadets and Staff to participate in the Anzac Day Driveway Vigil that has been initiated by RSL Bra...nches across Australia. We believe that it is important to encourage resilience to adapt and evolve through these uncertain times by taking part in a collective Dawn Service, standing in your driveway, on your patio or balcony at 0600hrs on Anzac Day. 05.01.2022 The Field Ration Eating Device (FRED), a uniquely Australian innovation, has been copied by many, but never surpassed. What started as a simple tin opener the F...RED has been developed into a tool used by diggers for many applications over the decades. During the Second World War, Australia produced the worlds first 24-hour (three-meal) combat ration pack. During this period the first spoon opener was trialled. Further trials were conducted from the mid-50s, with full-scale production starting in 1958. The bottle opener was added in 1966, and since conversion to metric in 1977. From a sight adjustment tool, general-purpose screw-driver and a survival multi-tool, as well as countless other applications for which it was never designed, but is apparently well-suited. It has outlasted the .303 rifle, the L1A1 SLR and the original F88, and we cant think of any other piece of modern kit that can claim the same longevity, or has captured the imagination quite like the humble FRED.

Whils...t the parade drill wasn't too bad, the 6 months has seen some of the cadets outgrow their uniforms, so the QM will be busy. We were also pleased to present badges of rank to our newly appointed Cadet NCOs, who completed their leadership courses online during lockdown. Also, we were able to announce Jess's appointment as a Trainee Officer of Cadets. Congratulations and Well Done to all.
