25.01.2022 Great to have a coordinated training drill with Station Officer Christian from Ambulance NSW. He bought some great training devices to help our firefighters polish their CPR skills and refresh other essential first response medical techniques. Thanks Christian. ... #MoreThanFire #PreparedForAnything #ProtectingOurCommunity #FireAndRescue @FireAndRescueNSW @AmbulanceNSW

24.01.2022 Way back in the late 1980s two fine, fit young men made the decision to dedicate a substantial part of their lives to serving their community as members of Fire+RescueNSW Braidwood Station 236. It has been a journey that has involved many risks, returned many rewards and seen Captain Phil McGrath and Deputy Captain Steven Hockey invest 1,000s of hours to making us all safer. Between them, Braidwood and countless other locations around New South Wales, have benefited from th...eir combined over 60 years of firefighting and rescue experience. They have provided a steadfast foundation of experience on which others have had the benefit of building on and they will be missed. This week Phil and Steve retired from Fire+RescueNSW and we wish them the very best of good fortune in their future endeavours and are happy to know we will still see plenty of them here in Braidwood, the town we love. Thank you Phil and Steve. 22.01.2022 These's some big rain forecast this weekend.

22.01.2022 The chill factor is here. If you are bringing out the heater for the first time this season, remember: keep everything, including yourself, one metre from the heater. For more fire safety advice visit fire.nsw.gov.au/winter #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

22.01.2022 How fireproof is your plan?

22.01.2022 There's a reason why it's called "Outdoor Heating".

22.01.2022 Here's a very timely reminder from our friends at the SES. Just don't drive anytime on flooded roads. https://www.facebook.com/BraidwoodSES/posts/3565200993510968

21.01.2022 After quite a Covid caused delay, tonight we were able to give retired Station 236 Deputy Captain Steve Hockey a proper send off. Steve is a dedicated Braidwood citizen and he worked for Fire+Rescue for over 30 years. He has seen a huge range of incidents and even though retired from the brigade we’re sure he will continue to be active in helping our community for a long time to come. Wishing you all the very best of good fortune in retirement Steve.

21.01.2022 Nice story about the benefits of knowing CPR.

19.01.2022 Late last night Queanbeyan was activated to Cooma Road near Braidwood following reports of a male trapped in floodwaters. On arrival our teams were presented w...ith a male clinging on for dear life in the raging river. A boat was launched with three Queanbeyan members on board who safely removed him from the river. Conditions were extremely dangerous but luckily for the man and thanks to our volunteers he will be going home alive. He was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance for possible hypothermia. A huge thanks to Fire and Rescue NSW Station 236 Braidwood, Monaro Police District and NSW SES - Braidwood Unit for their assistance in this rescue.

18.01.2022 Come down and see us, and some other local firies this Saturday morning at the Braidwood Markets. It’s time to prepare your Emergency Survival Kit for ...the bush fire season. Do you know what you’ll pack in your kit? #getreadyweekend The seven essential items to pack in your Survival Kit are; a portable battery-operated radio; a waterproof torch; spare batteries; a first aid kit with manual; woollen blankets; emergency contact numbers; drinking water. Add cash and credit cards; medications and toiletries; special requirements for children, the disabled or the elderly; a mobile phone and charger; important documents; and a change of clothes for everyone before you leave. 17.01.2022 Avoid a nasty burn or scald and always turn your pot handles inwards. Pot handles turned outwards are the perfect height for running into and being grabbed by c...hildren. June is National Burns Awareness Month. Last year in NSW more than 3000 people suffered burns injuries with almost 50% of these caused by scalds. 16.01.2022 After such a trying and disrupted 2020, Fire+Rescue Braidwood was very pleased this week to transport #santa in Tanker 236 to the First Braidwood Scout hall to help him hand out a few treats to our youth members. What a year it’s been but a happy way to help bring it to a close. Even though it was cold, damp and windy the scouts held their annual water fight. 14.01.2022 HAPPY FATHERS DAY | From our Fire and Rescue NSW family.

14.01.2022 Fire+Rescue NSW Station 236 Braidwood is a Primary Rescue station and we are sometimes called on to assist Ambulance N.S.W. to release casualties from motor vehicle accidents. Our training can include practicing many rescue techniques on donated cars that are no longer wanted. Our hydraulic rescue tools deliver many tons of force but we finished off todays training drill with something a little different. A task that measures just how finely our firefighters can control this... heavy duty equipment. 13.01.2022 As the colder weather starts to set in it is important to check your electric blankets - To check an electric blanket, lay it flat on top of the bed, then switc...h it on for five minutes before putting it on the bed for use to confirm it is ok - It is also recommended to inspect your electric blanket for any discoloration, wear and tear before use(brown spots may indicate overheating), ensure the controls are not twisted or caught under the mattress, never sleep with an electric blanket turned on and if your electric blanket is more than 10 years old no matter the appearance it is recommended to be replaced - For more informationplease visit www-fire.nsw.gov.au or contact your local fire station - - #frnsw #fireandrescuensw #morethanfire #protecttheirreplaceable #Preparedforanything #firesafetyinthehome #firesafety #electricblanket See more
