16.01.2022 Seasol have kindly donated some of their product for our native tree planting project! We’re putting it to good use to help regenerate the burnt lands in Victoria- Wulgulmerang. Our Wulgulmerang Basecamp is in desperate need of volunteers. If you can spare some time and are up for a rewarding challenge, please call our Wulgulmerang camp leader on 0417773065. You will be welcomed with open arms!

07.01.2022 East Gippsland BlazeAid Fire recovery at Bruthen is now closed After 9 months helping the Bruthen Community with fire recovery -every day seven days a week- the BlazeAid Coordinator David Geekie and all 881 volunteers are very proud to present these stats and return the Bruthen Recreational Reserve where Blazeaid was set up back to the locals: Direct cash injected into local businesses for General supplies eg Posts Wire/ groceries/ fuel was $345,600... From locally, all over Australia and internationally there were 881 volunteers who worked on the fencelines 6,400 volunteer days averaging 8.2 working days each. Boundary fences and many internals were rebuilt on 212 farms where 115 Kilometres of burnt fencing was cleared and 172 kilometres of new fencing was built with a conservative value of $1.72 million BlazeAid would like to thank the President and Committee of Management of the Bruthen Recreational Reserve for their help and cooperation during our long stay, the East Gippsland Shire Council, the Vic State Govt, Richard Techere of Bushfire Recovery Victoria, DELWP and the locals and farmers who welcomed BlazeAiders into their community to help with the recovery and a special thanks to the volunteers and coordinators ( David Geekie, Linda and Nick, Mike, Phil, Harm, Julie) who made it all happen. I am most grateful to the selfless farmers who have kindly taken responsibility and security and given weatherproof cover for our $250k of CombatReady trailers , Swift shelters etc Without all these volunteers, BlazeAid could not even exist. Thankyou also to the hundreds of generous people who donate to BlazeAid- we like to respect every dollar you give by giving 100% back to the recovery with BlazeAid having only TWO people part time in admin with one giving up an extra quarter of her time for volunteering as well! We had our AGM last Tuesday night (26/10/20) and all the reports are there for you to read at blazeaid.com website. Kevin and Rhonda Butler BlazeAid founders Kilmore East Vic

07.01.2022 BlazeAid will still have some camps operating this summer especially in Southern NSW. #blazeaidcobargo #blazeaidtowamba #blazeaidbemboka... #blazeaidbombala The traditional backbone of volunteers for BlazeAid are the amazing Grey Nomads or independent travellers. For the last six months we have had many volunteers from overseas through our camps which means we can provide accommodation, in the form of a swift shelter. As you can see from the pictures these can make a cosy little habitat. So all you need is clothes and bedding to join one of our camps. Please share far and wide with your networks, it would be great to see some young Aussie's on the fence lines.

06.01.2022 Here is Rome (who hails from England)with the first completed cattle guard kindly donated by Kyllie Durant from Holbrook Landcare Network! As a cross border program, 60 guards were donated in total through a grant from the Landcare Bushfire Recovery Fund. Thanks to all involved in this valuable project!

04.01.2022 Vale Peter Tucker. Blazeaid is saddened to hear of the passing of long time volunteer, over many bases, throughout many years, Peter Tucker. You will be greatly missed. Our heart felt sympathy goes out to Margaret and family.

04.01.2022 Official BlazeAid Documentary launching on Thursday in Edithburgh. Everyone who cannot attend the official Premiere screening will be able to watch it online fr...om Thursday onwards in their own time. After several months of filming and editing, it is now finished and it is world class. It runs for 75 minutes having tens and tens of farmers coordinators and volunteers tell their stories from the camps and on the fencelines. It is an exceptional professional masterpiece and reflects the true character of Blazeaid. Out of respect for farmers, the filmmakers made a decision to not show any fire in the film, it is a story of the human spirit coming together to overcome the devastation of the black summer and help rebuild both fences and lives. We will share the link here as soon as we have it! See more

03.01.2022 Amanda and her husband had help rebuilding their fences after fire hit their property in 2009. She now volunteers her time to give some of that back, knowing first-hand how powerful a group of willing hands can be both physically and emotionally in the aftermath of the fires.

01.01.2022 It is so nice for a family to take the time and to send a Thankyou to the wonderful volunteers who make blazeaid what is. This thoughtfulness is from the McKimmie family at Corryong blazeaid.
