23.01.2022 Playing the new team to the competition Rydall won the toss and had no hesitation in batting on a scorching hot afternoon. Dean Watkins and Mick Lopez started the innings well before Dean was out for 18. Joe Hill came to the wicket and took charge putting on a 60 run partnership with Lopez before both fell together, mick for 19 and Joe for 48. Rydall was joined by Jack Crouch and the 2 took the game away from Phoenix scoring a 82 run partnership. Jack was out for 27 and Del c...ontinued his fine innings before he was out off the the last ball of the innings for 72. That saw the score go to 5-192. Chasing a formidable target Scott Filmer and Ben Crouch grabbed all wickets to see toe opposition 3 for 20 early. Wickets continued to fall with Matt Johnston taking 3 and Dean Watkins 2 to see the score 8-70. Some late hitting saw the score reach 9-126 off their allotted overs. A big win to 1st grade. Well done boys!! Thank you to the supporters who braved the heat.

21.01.2022 Under 13 Rogers travelled to Lapstone Oval to play Glenbrook Blaxland - Hazlewood. Winning the toss, Glenbrook was sent into bat. With a display of tight bowling they were all out for 8/77, with 7 bowlers getting amongst the wickets. Standouts included Jack Leahey 2 for 9 off 4.0 overs and Lachlan Todd with 1 for 1 off 2.0 overs (inc. wicket maiden). Going into bat we chased down their total in 16th over scoring 2/79. Nathan Jenkins scoring 36*/35 and Alexander Hovelmann scoring 21*/27. With a well deserved man of the match going to Max Leach.

11.01.2022 1st grade took on the undefeated leaders of the comp Glenmore Park today at Jamison 5. Losing the toss and being sent in Springwood Brad and Dena made a patient start on a bit of a sticky wicket after several days of rain. Glenmore bowled well, but patience was the key on an outfield that gave nothing. Del was once again the mainstay with a patient 50 not out, Adam scored 18, jack 14 to bat in partnership with Del to see the score to 4-109 off 40overs. Not a big score, but on... a tough wicket and incredibly slow outfield certainly defendable. Scotty and Ben both both their 8 overs out taking a wicket each, but beating the bat several times and restricting the scoring. Matty J and Dean continued to good bowling to see Glenmore 3-39 at drinks. Dean took a wicket first ball after drinks and the game swung our way. Wickets continued to fall under pressure bowling and strong fielding. Outfield catches to Ben and Ewan saw Glenmore implode to be all out for 64. A great win with 5 players out. Special thanks to Matt White, Matt Ness and Ewan Rogers for filling in and helping out the team. 1st game in First grade for each, with many more to come in the future. Great win boys

11.01.2022 9th Grade Report Round 8 vs Glenmore Park at Ched Towns Res. 9th Grade took on Glenmore Park today for the second time this season. Skipper Andrew Hutch lost yet another toss but didn’t mind being sent into bat by the GP Captain. Springwood only had 10’players as well due to the late withdrawal of a sick player. It was very slow going though with an incredibly slow ground that had absolutely no value for one’s shots - with Springwood 3/30 at the 20 over drinks break. After dr...inks, Andrew Hutch and Jon Wright began to lift the scoring rate, with Jon hitting 3 well timed sixes with his trusty bat (that belongs to his 12 year old son!!). Hutch was eventually dismissed for 37 but Jon continued on, smacking the GP bowlers around the ground. Jon eventually fell for his first ever 50 - for 56 - in his first season of cricket - outstanding. Springwood finished 7/115 from the 40 overs. GP came into bat, but opening bowlers Oliver Jenkins and Isaac Selwood started right on the money, keeping a very tight line and beat the bat several times - with Ollie breaking through for the first wicket - and took another the next ball - and came very close to an lbw for his attempt at a hat trick. Some changes to the bowling saw Aaron Jenkins nab one of the bigger hitting GP batsmen to an excellent high catch to Isaac Hutchinson and again some very tight bowling by Aaron and Max Jackson kept GP to 3/21 at drinks. After drinks, GP batsman Sanket Raje came out and tried to lift the scoring rate but some excellent bowling by off spinner Isaac Hutchinson and medium pacer Alex Wright continued to keep the rate down - with Isaac getting another catch with a caught and bowled. And Alex named the vital wicket of Raje, caught behind by keeper Andrew Hutch. After the dismissal of Raje, the scoring rate dropped and Springwood bowled GP out for 76 in the 38th over, with more wickets to Ollie Jenkins and Aaron Jenkins and also to leggie Jack Pohlmann. A great win by the boys. Bowling figures - Oliver Jenkins 4/10 off 8, Aaron Jenkins 2/6 off 5, Isaac Hutchinson 2/14 off 6, Alex Wright 1/11, Jack Pohlmann 1/11 with catches to keeper Andrew Hutch, 1 to John Wright and 2 each to Alex Wright and Isaac Hutch. 01.01.2022 Springwood 4th Grade round 7. After losing the toss and bowling first Springwood had an emphatic win over first placed Cranebrook today by 10 wickets. Great early bowling by Peter Crouch and Matt Hunt had Cranebrook scoring very slowly. In 40 degree heat Peter Crouch bowled 8 overs and Matt Hunt 7 overs taking a wicket each. Next up was the skip Nathan Hunt & Ed Cross who took two wickets each to have Cranebrook in real trouble at 6 for 53. Further great bowling by Owen Powell who took two wickets and a wrap up by Adam Mallas taking a wicket saw Cranebrook all out for 94. Batting was never a problem with Adam Mallas and Ed Cross seeing us home in the 19th over. (P. Crouch 1-18, Matt Hunt 1-14, Nathan Hunt 2-17, Ed Cross 2-19, Owen Powell 2-8 and Adam Mallas 1-16. Adam Mallas 57no Ed Cross 28no). Springwood now top of the comp.
