18.01.2022 Around 2.30pm today 3 FRNSW fire engines from Dubbo and a number of RFS fire engines responded to a fast moving grass fire near Boothenba road. A gusty Westerly... wind quickly pushed the fire East making it hard for firefighters to contain. The fire is now under control with the RFS remaining on scene blacking out any hot spots. See more

14.01.2022 On Tuesday 10th September Strike Team Zulu tasked to contain the fire to the side along the Brunxer Highway near Drake, the conditions were tough for the crews with the wind gust up to 60kms and not in their favour.
14.01.2022 A massive thanks to the Village of Ewinga and surrounds that help cook and delivered food to those firefighters on the ground. Its the little things in life th...at we take for granted, the village of Ewinga were very supportive to the firefighters considering how close the fire was to their homes and to those people who already had lost their homes, they were still in good spirits and cooking meals for everyone. #NSWFR #NSWRFS #StrikeTeamZulu #RegionalWest1 #CommunitySpirit See more
14.01.2022 Please be mindful of what dangers airbags pose if their manufacturer warnings are not followed. We see many people in the passenger seat with their feet up on the dash while driving. This is a great example of why you shouldn’t. Stay safe.
13.01.2022 What a great example of how to cause more road carnage. This bloke captured on Friday at Denman, as you can see over taking over unbroken lines on a bend. Does...nt get more dangerous... School holidays and a long weekend!! Please drive safely, commonsense and patience is all you need...

10.01.2022 I know we haven’t posted a lot of late, but hopefully that will change in the future and we will endeavour to keep everyone updated on station news. The past week or so has been busy for the crews at 280. We had a significant appliance breakdown which required repairs in Orange. 280B is fully operational again. But not before we had to get an SEV and do a restow for a week. COVID19 restrictions have seen our station drill training schedule change a little to ensure we all ...remain safe. We have adopted new ways to do our schedules training whilst minimising potential spread as required by COVIDSafe. The Crew have been busy getting our newest recruit Simone, up to speed before she heads to Sydney for her Phase 1 and 2 training in July. She is more than capable and we can’t wait to get her into the fire truck and onto the fire ground to use her new wealth of knowledge. One of our members Ryan, just spent 3 days at Wellington Training Centre doing road crash rescue training as part of our new capabilities. We can’t wait to see what new skills Ryan can show us at one of our next drill sessions on rescue. .... Firefighter movements - We have seen a few people come and go at 280 of late. Recently we had two members transfer in from Coonamble. Welcome Will and Kyle. We also saw Ryan come from across the river at 284 Delroy. Ryan lives a lot closer to 280 and will be an asset to our crew. Welcome Ryan. We saw the departure of Nicole and Dominic. Nicole transferred to 216 Bathurst and has taken up residence there and providing the community there with her experience. Good luck Nic. Dominic headed to 424 Port Macquarie with the family and from all accounts is settling in very well. Dom will also be able to give the community a wealth of knowledge and experience. Good luck Dom. .... Incidents - Whilst it has been relatively quiet of late, our crews have had a number of incidents of a relatively minor nature such as MVA’s, car fires, AFA’s, rubbish and grass fires, fuel spills to name a few. In total we have had around 15 calls in the last 7 days. Our Hazmat van has also been busy with cylinders runs to out stations such as Narromine, Parkes and Trangie. It was also responded to a serious incident east of Wellington involving a car and truck head on. The crew worked with RP380 Molong and stopped a diesel leak from the semi before decanting the fuel tanks and making the scene safe. ... until our next post, stay safe and remember, 1 metre from the heater. 10.01.2022 It’s going to be hot today. Please stay cool and safe. Drink plenty of water and remember your pets. A storm warning has also just been issued for later today. If you see a fire , please 000
09.01.2022 Calling out for all members of the community to consider a career with Fire and Rescue NSW. Your town needs you.
08.01.2022 A post from the Kentucky General Store & Cafe, the crew from RW1 (280B and CT284, also our Duty Commander and 465) were glad that we could lend a hand to our comrades from the local Kentucky and Uralla RFS Take care people and talk about your fire plan! Last Thursday we saw the second fire within a week in Kentucky. The first was caused by the ignition of pine trees after a pile burn carried out two weeks prior in safe conditions. The fire can burn underground for weeks in t...he roots of trees and ignite. The second was caused by using an angle grinder in front of a shed. No one was hurt despite the property having a number of hazardous flammables. The house which was under ember attack on and off during the day was saved due to some quick thinking locals first on the scene and the RFS during the day under horrendous conditions. Sadly some sheds and property equipment was lost. Thank you to the locals on the scene, local and surrounding RFS iBrigades , Fire and Rescue NSW Uralla, and visiting Fire and Rescue NSW Brigade from Dubbo returning from deployment in Tenterfield all in attendance.
