25.01.2022 Nice weather + kids playing without killing each other = some time to read I crossed paths with Lindsey Kennedy many years ago on the side lines of a soccer pitch at the club where her husband and my wife both played. Her energy is limitless and her smile, infectious. In 2018 she was diagnosed with breast cancer after recently receiving the news that her sister in England had also been diagnosed for a second time.... She couldn’t find the book she needed to read, so she wrote one. . . . . #sunsoutbooksout #goodread #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #checkyourboobies #mentoo #2and4osteo #kilsyth #montrose

23.01.2022 Have you ever wondered why it's important for dogs to sniff on their walks? Slow, sniffing walks allow your dog to absorb and process all the scents in the world around them. 20.01.2022 Two quotes for your Monday this week, both with the same theme that the journey is as important as the end goal. "Put your head down and work with pride on whatever is in front of you you never know where you might end up. Just be aware that the next worthy pursuit will probably appear in your periphery. ... 18.01.2022 One in four of us will have a stroke in our lifetime. Stroke is always a medical emergency and stroke doesn’t stop for COVID-19. This National Stroke Week (Aug 31-Sept 6) Stroke Foundation is urging Australians from all walks of life to become the next generation of F.A.S.T. Heroes. ... A F.A.S.T. hero is anyone who can help save a life simply by knowing how to recognise the F.A.S.T. (Face. Arms. Speech and Time) signs of stroke. The message is simple Time is brain. The faster you can be treated after stroke, the more chance you have of making a full recovery. A stroke is always a medical emergency. Call triple zero (000) if you suspect a stroke. 11.01.2022 This message has popped up in a few groups that I follow on Facebook and it got me wondering about the sentiment of the message. While I agree that my children are my world and I consistently put them first, a few questions arise... - If this mentality is damaging to your mental health, should your psychological well being take priority until you can happily choose your children over yourself again? ... - Does some time need to be taken away from the children and dedicated to our relationships? (for those who are married, are you a better parent if your marriage is healthy?) - Should we sometimes prioritise our physical health (diet, exercise, treatment) so that we can continue being great parents? - Can the above mentioned points be managed simultaneously while "choosing your kids in every situation" or is doing these things a way of "choosing your kids" by being the best version of you? What are your thoughts? ***Please respect each others opinions, no arguments*** . . . . #whatdoyouthink #chooseyourkidsfirst #2and4osteo #kilsyth #montrose

09.01.2022 Starting Monday the 28th of September the DHHS has announced an easing of restrictions for patients attending Allied Health Services. This means I am re-opening the clinic back to its normal hours and you can now make a booking online on my website. The criteria now allows me to see patients: * to prevent a significant deterioration which may lead to increased frequency in treatment OR a significant increase in pain * for assessment and diagnostic purposes for those people wh...ose care has been delayed during stage 4 restrictions, and where further delay likely to result in deterioration * to provide essential pre-operative or post-operative elective surgery care Whilst it isn’t quite business as usual yet I am really excited to be able to assist a larger range of patients again. 04.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE: Two and Four Osteopathy is OPEN WITH RESTRICTIONS during the Stage 4 lockdown: BUT! (and it's a big but) "routine and non-urgent treatment is not permitted".... What I CAN do is provide essential, urgent services that "prevent a significant change/deterioration in functional independence necessitating escalation of care"; eg avoiding hospital admission, emergency department presentation, the requirement for specialist input/review or an increase in care needs. All patients seeking face-to-face consultations will be screened according to these criteria prior to an appointment being made. If you think you meet these criteria, call or message me. There is no restriction on Telehealth consultations, either via phone or video. Please make an online booking if you feel that this could be of use to you There are some mixed messages out there from various sources in regards to what is allowed in stage 4 restrictions. Rest assured that the restrictions that I am following are for all allied health practices. As an individual health practitioner, and as a profession more broadly, we support the core messages of why the lockdown has occurred and understand the aims of reducing movement and face-to-face contact as much as possible. Thank you again for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. This is HARD! 03.01.2022 EDIT!!! Things are changing again, watch this space for what will hopefully be a positive update coming later today. Important Covid-19 Update. As a result of the Victorian Government Stage 4 restrictions, Allied Health Practitioners can only see face-to-face patients who are urgent and have a GP referral.... As such, I have had to cancel Osteopathy appointments for the remainder of this week (6/8/202 - 9/8/2020) while I explore options for the following weeks of lock down and formulate what way I can be of best use to my patients. At this stage, what it means going forward is that unless you have a written referral from your GP to see an Osteopath, you will unfortunately have to wait until current restrictions are lifted before making an appointment. The DHHS is constantly reviewing policies and procedures so if anything changes, you'll see it here immediately. Stay home and stay safe everyone and to my patients, I will be in touch. . . . . #covidupdate #2and4osteo #kilsyth #montrose

01.01.2022 We all know that staying active and getting regular exercise is important. But whether you’re training for a competition or simply keeping healthy, more isn’t always better. Rest days are just as important as exercise. In fact, a successful fitness regimen isn’t complete without rest days.... Taking regular breaks allows your body to recover and repair. 01.01.2022 Stage 4 has come as a bit of a shock to us all here in Melbourne. Let’s look out for each other during the next 6 weeks.
