24.01.2022 When a friend of mine ran her first marathon, she came in to work the next day with a waddle that only marathoners can understand. It’s not that she hadn’t trained, and whilst I’m in no way a runner I recognise that no one gets through 42.2km by chance, but my husband has completed four and he was incredulous as he looked at her preparation stats. 24.01.2022 Even when it feels like everything is going horribly wrong, the morning is on it's way . . .

24.01.2022 Some days, balance seems so hard to find. But when we strip it right back, perhaps the problem is we made it too complicated

23.01.2022 We are made strong for a reason, and it rarely has much to do with us. #bekind #strong

22.01.2022 I mean, who even gets to decide? I had the great privilege of speaking to a group of teenagers about this a few months ago, as it seems to me that there is no age where these questions are more important, and yet they are so quickly squashed by quick answers from well-meaning adults. I am absolutely convinced that we push our kids to know who they are and what they want to be way too early. [ 930 more words ] http://box5819.temp.domains/~twocub/how-do-i-know-who-i-am/

19.01.2022 Ok so in our house, we use this one all the time! I'm a big believe in making plans, but I also believe that if the plan isn't taking you where you want to go you ABSOLUTELY have to be willing to throw it out and come up with a new plan. So how can we pivot in the middle of catching a curve ball? Stay tuned!

19.01.2022 Is there is something you feel like you need more of? How about starting by being grateful for how much we already have? What are you grateful for today?

18.01.2022 But what does that really mean? Simply said, muscles need oxygen to perform which is carried in the bloodstream. The heart is basically like a pump which moves the blood around the body to deliver the oxygen where it's needed. If you think about using a hand pump to pump water, the faster you pump the more water you move. Alternatively, the bigger the pump, the more water it moves with each pump of the handle. ... When we exercise hard the pump, or the heart, has to work harder to keep up with the demand from the muscles. However as we continue to put these demands on the heart it adapts to keep up, almost like upgrading the pump for a bigger one which can handle a bigger volume. So, the fitter we get the more demand the muscles can keep up with. Simple! #fitness #healthyfitandstrong #keepitsimple

18.01.2022 Dear Dad, When I was little I would wrap my hand up in yours, feeling the wear of work encasing my little fingers, knowing there was nothing stronger or more wonderful than those hands. While your hands held mine I knew the world was held at arm's length, that my fear had evaporated in the clutch of gentle kindness. As I grew older I began to pull my hand away and I think a part of you tried to hold on to the little girl that was becoming a teenager, but my hands were growing bigger and reaching for more of life than what lay within reach of you. 17.01.2022 Is it the most irritating fact of adulthood - that all the facets of life that are most valuable and we love the most always seem to be in competition with each other? Why is that the case, and what can we do about it? I am absolutely passionate about finding ways for the most important aspects of life to support and uphold one another rather than competing for our time and money - it is precisely what 2Cubez is all about! 16.01.2022 There are days where it just feels impossible to stop working long enough to clear my mind with a good bike ride. But then I climb a mountain and remember I am doing this for my heart, not just my body

12.01.2022 Music changes things. I may have had a love/hate relationship with learning to play the piano, but I am forever grateful for what it brings me now. Music brings joy in the sadness; calm in anxiety; perspective in sorrow; expression to emotion under the sun

11.01.2022 Sometimes in fitness it seems you have to have a university degree to understand the weird words and explanations that over complicate things. So let's try to simplify this one a little bit. What is overload? The body is very good at adapting to the load we put on it, and the stimulus to get stronger is directly related to intensity. ... What happens is that when we increase our movement, the brain picks up the fact that we need more muscle engagement to get on board and keep up with the demand. I like to think of it like the brain as a bunch of switches connected to a bunch of lights. The more lights are required, the more switches you have to switch on! In the body, the higher the intensity the more little switches the brain needs to switch on to meet the demand. However as that becomes 'normal', the body adapts so that not as many lights are required, just like your eyes can adjust to low light. So to make the next increase in fitness or strength we need to make the brain switch on some more lights, and the way to do that is to increase the intensity again. This is what we mean when we talk about overload - it is increasing the intensity to stimulate the body to respond. To get stronger, it means lifting heavier. To get fitter, it means pushing the heart and lungs harder, or huffing and puffing a little more. Simple!

10.01.2022 It's easy to complain about the people or circumstances around us. So we have two options - get upset about it, or do something to improve the situation. It might not be easy but there is ALWAYS something we can do.

06.01.2022 Dear 15 years old, You don’t know it yet, but this year is going to be the calm before a fairly lengthy storm. This is the year when you have a group of stable friends around you, you fail your first maths test, and you start to feed a ball of inexpressible emotions that will ultimately threaten your life. It’s great that you are feeling a lot more secure in your friendships, and how good is to have a resolution to the girl-dramas of the last 12 months! 06.01.2022 Revise the Plan Have you ever made a plan only to get half way down the road and realise it is not taking you anywhere close to where you intended to go? 04.01.2022 It's coming! When things are tough it can feel like it's been winter for ever! But little by little the signs are there - the cold is fading; the harvest is on the way

04.01.2022 A lot of people don’t want to talk about faith. Maybe it’s because they see it as the same thing as religion which threatens constraint for their happiness. Perhaps it’s because it sparks memories of tense family gatherings when certain relatives sought to ensure that every other person conformed to the same opinion as them. I wonder if one of the main reasons people distance themselves from the concept of faith is because it has been portrayed to them as something that requires them to switch off all logic and reason. 01.01.2022 Here’s an interesting question for you: what would your life look like if you habitually did all of the things you know you should do? There are so many sources of information available to us today that we really have no excuse for not doing something, or doing the wrong thing, out of ignorance. But isn’t it interesting that as our access to information has increased, so has our confusion about who to listen to. [ 1,001 more word ] http://box5819.temp.domains//overcoming-the-failure-to-ex/
