22.01.2022 What better person to lead the fire recovery than our Deputy Premier and Nationals Leader John Barilaro. Like our community, his region has been frantically a...ffected by the fires. Our thoughts are with the south as they start to recover and rebuild. They were here for us late last year, when we were facing our fires. We are in this together and we have a lot of work to do. Wednesday, 15 January 2020 PREMIER APPOINTS MINISTER FOR DISASTER RECOVERY The Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro will be the Minister responsible for disaster recovery, leading recovery efforts following the recent bushfires across NSW. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the unprecedented scale of the 2019/20 bushfire season requires additional arrangements to be put in place to ensure impacted communities recover and rebuild as quickly as possible. Our emergency services personnel and volunteers have been outstanding in dealing with the bushfire emergency to date but the scale of these bushfires has never been seen before and the recovery process will be unprecedented, Ms Berejiklian said. Our Government focus is to get the clean-up underway, ensure residents and businesses receive the support they need and to rebuild the infrastructure destroyed or damaged. Deputy Premier John Barilaro said these bushfires have had a devastating impact on families, communities and a number of industries across NSW. The people of regional NSW are hurting. The drought is unprecedented and now these fires have devastated communities across the state, Mr Barilaro said. From apple orchards in Bilpin, timber mills in northern and southern NSW, through to tourism operators in the Blue Mountains, Snowy Mountains and the north and south coasts, the impact has spread far and wide. Our priority is to support those families, communities and businesses affected, to make sure they have everything they need to recover, rebuild and get back on their feet.

20.01.2022 BREAKING: Arrests this morning over Broulee bushland murder NSW Police advise (13th Feb, 2020 8:45am) Homicide detectives have arrested two teenagers following... an investigation into the death of a man on the states South Coast earlier this month. About 4.50pm on Sunday 2 February 2020, emergency services were called to bushland near McNee Street at Broulee, following the discovery of a mans body. The man has since been formally identified as 56-year-old Canberra resident, Peter Keeley. A post mortem examination was inconclusive; however, Mr Keeley had suffered head and facial injuries. Detectives from the State Crime Commands Homicide Squad and South Coast Police District established Strike Force Henrick to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. Following extensive investigations and a public appeal last week, strike force detectives executed three search warrants at homes in the Broulee area from 6am today (Thursday 13 February 2020). Two 17-year-old boys were arrested at homes in the Broulee area and taken to Batemans Bay Police Station. Inquiries are continuing.

16.01.2022 THE CBF- PARTNERS OF COMMUNITY RADIO IN TIMES OF NEED!! AND BREAKING NEWS!! On the 11th of February 2020 2EAR FM received some much appreciated Great News!! This followed the total destruction of 2EAR FMs Main Link Antenna on Mt Wandera by bush fires on the 31st of December 2019.... 2 EAR FM was seeking financial assistance to purchase and install a new antenna and to re-establish their service from Moruya to Mt Wandera. This is a huge and expensive operation for any Community Radio Station to have to deal with! The Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF) came to the rescue by providing an opportunity for 2EAR FM to apply for a Quick Response Support Grant!! Secretary Kathy Shields set to work immediately and submitted the comprehensive Grant application on the 4th of February 2020! Notification of the success of that grant came on the 11th of February 2020!! The Grants Team at the CBF have been remarkable too in viewing, assessing and processing the Grant application in such a short period of time . We are all extremely grateful to both the CBF and to Kathy. THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY FOR BEING SO PATIENT AND UNDERSTANDING DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME! OUR TECHNICIAN IAN CLIFFORD WILL MAKE FURTHER ATTEMPS TO ESTABLISH ANOTHER TEMPORARY LINK AND A BROADER SERVICE, UNTIL SUCH TIMES AS WE ARE BACK TO FULL BROADCASTING CAPACITY WITH OUR BRAND NEW ANTENNA!! Our Technical Team has been working tirelessly to restore our transmission since its failure at around 8.45 am on 31/12/2019 We are very pleased to announce that 2EAR FM is now broadcasting its regular programs via a transmitter temporarily installed by our Technician and support team at our Studios at 9 Rose Street Mouya as at 3.30 PM on the 9th of January 2020. ... The output is at a reduced level, due to the logistics and this will remain the case until we are able to acquire a new antenna for the Mt Wandera installation and until power is restored to the Mt Wandera facility. The devastation to equipment on Mt Wandera is severe. We thank you for your understanding during this difficult period. 08.01.2022 Community Radio 2EAR-FM, on the NSW South Coast, had a tough summer - six weeks in the middle of the extreme bushfire emergency that continues to impact on the ...lives and livelihoods of everyone around them. At the height of the fires, EAR FMs main transmitter pole burnt with the Mogo State Forest and the station went off air. Theyve been broadcasting with limited range ever since, but their determination to get back to serving their community has been inspiring. Thanks to a quick response grant (https://cbf.org.au/quick-response-grants/), EAR FM has a new transmitter on its way! Congrats to all in the EAR FM team - and to Company Secretary Kathy Shields, who secured the grant. Heres Kathy with longtime broadcaster and EAR FM President Tony Jaggers. The after image was originally mistaken for being ABC equipment, but is unfortunately 2EAR FMs Main Transmit & Link tower As soon as the area can safely be accessed, the damage will be assessed and repaired when we are able.... We will unfortunately be off air for the duration until repairs can be made.

03.01.2022 SIX COVID-19 CASES DETECTED - BATEMANS BAY The Southern NSW Local Health District has confirmed six reported cases which have been identified within the Dis...trict @ 2300 hours, Saturday 18 July, 2020. In addition to the two people who were infectious with COVID-19 and dined at the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club on Monday 13 July 2020, a further six people associated with the Club have been diagnosed as positive with COVID-19. NSW Health says all patrons and staff who were at the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club on Monday 13 July, Wednesday 15 July, Thursday 16 July and Friday 17 July, should self-isolate for 14 days after they were last at the Club, and seek testing for COVID-19. Even if they test negative, they should remain in isolation for the full 14 days, and should be tested again if they develop symptoms of COVID-19.

The department has been advised by NSW Health that a student has tested positive for COVID-19. The school will be non-operational tomorrow for the on-site attendance of staff and students to allow time for the school to complete the contact tracing process and have the school cleaned.
