16.01.2022 Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL For people in Central Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains and parts of South West Slopes, Riverina and Lower Western Forecast Districts. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Orange, Bathurst, Katoomba, Dubbo, P...arkes and Griffith. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.

13.01.2022 Just a reminder of the power outage planned for overnight. As we reported last week, Residents across the region will be without power in the early hours of MONDAY, as Essential Energy complete upgrades on the electricity network that supplies power to Mudgee and the surrounding area. Operations Manager Macquarie, Jamie Warren, says the works will see the commissioning of an auto changeover system, which will provide for quicker restoration times for customers during unplanne...d power outages, if safe to do so. He says that currently, in the event of a major unplanned power outage on the main power supply line, power supply needs to be switched manually to restore power. This new system will see that happen automatically. To enable the work to be completed safely, a planned power outage will affect more than 9,100 customers in Mudgee, Bombira, Gulgong, Grattai, Hargraves, Lue, Windeyer and surrounding areas, will take place in the early hours of Monday between 12.15am and 3.00am. Essential energy says that affected homes and businesses have already been notified of the planned outage.

09.01.2022 ADVICE - Triamble (Mid-Western Regional Council) Local #volunteer #firefighters from across @NSW RFS - Cudgegong District were kept busy over the weekend, atten...ding a number of fires in very hot conditions. Most noteable, was the Triamble Fire west of #Hargraves. Starting as a result of lightning, crews from NSW RFS - Hargraves Brigade, #Windeyer and #Grattai - supported by water-bombing aircraft, NSW RFS - Lawson Brigade (at Mudgee Airbase) and a Rapid Aerial Response Team from NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service - worked tirelessly to contain the fire. Reaching 4.5ha, this fire is currently listed at 'Patrol' status - with #firefighters will be out again throughout the course of the afternoon to undertake further patrols of the fireground to limit re-ignition. With high temperatures and strong winds set to return tomorrow (Tuesday 1 December), all residents and landholders are encouarged to review their Bush Fire Survival Plan and know what they will do should a fire start near them. 07.01.2022 3 people have been taken to hospital this afternoon following a 3 car collision on the Castlereagh Highway at Cullen Bullen:- a total of 8 people were traveling in 3 the vehicles at the time of the accident. Emergency services were called to the scene near Carson’s Siding Rd at around 2:30pm. A 53 year old woman, the driver of one of the vehicles, was trapped for around half an hour before being released. She suffered chest, pelvic and leg injuries and was airlifted by the To...ll Rescue 207 Helicopter to Westmead Hospital. Authorities described her condition as serious but stable at the time the helicopter left the scene. A 44 year old Mudgee woman and 14 year old boy, occupants of another of the vehicles involved, were treated by Ambulance Paramedics for minor injuries before being transported to the Lithgow District Hospital. The occupants of a third vehicle, believed to be a local couple in their sixties, apparently refused transport to Hospital. One of the vehicles involved was towing a camper trailer, while another was pulling a box trailer. Agencies who attended the accident scene included Lithgow Ambulance Paramedics, Lithgow Volunteer Rescue Squad, Lithgow Police, NSW Fire & Rescue, Portland, and various Rural Fire Service brigades. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, however the Castlereagh Highway is expected to remain closed for some time as Accident Investigation Police conduct their enquiries.
