06.01.2022 ANZAC Day 2020 Secretary 2 RAR Association Sun, Apr 26 Hi All,... I hope all has gone well for you and the rather unusual way we had to commemorate ANZAC Day yesterday. In many ways the driveway ceremony was uplifting and it was very pleasing to see that many participated in the real spirit of ANZAC. I would love to hear of your experiences. How did your day unfold? What was the best and worst of the experience? Anything unusual to report? I love to hear from you and some of your stories will be published in the next RINGO and please, please send photos with captions. I appreciate your contributions. Kind regards Gordon --- "Second to None" Gordon W. 03.01.2022 The Hook was a vulnerable but heavily defended section of the UN frontline, that protected other UN positions in the Samichon Valley. Here, Australian soldiers took part in their last engagement of the war; the armistice declared only one day later. Positioned at The Hook were the 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (2 RAR) and the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3 RAR), as the forward troops of the 1st Commonwealth Division. Other vital positions to the left of the Australians were held by the 7th Regiment of the US Marines.
