17.01.2022 Mel Robson, NT | @melrobsonceramics | . I made a few of these wonky bottles/bud vases to use as glaze tests for some new glazes I’ve been playing with. The pro...cess of pinching them was just so enjoyable I couldn’t stop and I got a bit carried away. Handbuilding seems to be my current modus operandi - slow and intuitive as I mull over new directions #australianceramics #pinchpots #budvases #glazetesting #handbuilding #ceramics #ntceramics #alicespringsceramics #melrobson #melrobsonceramics @ Alice Springs, Northern Territory See more

14.01.2022 I’m planning a little project around this teapot, which was designed by me (with adjustments by house designers) and manufactured Huaguang Zibo Bone Chìna in Zi...bo, Shandong Province, China, as part of a boxed, presentation set (The Sydney Teaset). It won silver award in the China Ceramic Industry design awards at the time (almost 20 years ago), and is represented in museum collections. In cleaning up my studio recently I found a small quantity of the teapots- adjusted to have this wider opening. I had ordered some extras as I always wanted to have textile (or other) makers design and fabricate teacosies for them. Well- I’m doing that now as I think it would make a really interesting small travelling exhibition. I’m open to any interpretations of what ‘teacosies’ might be made of- but they need to be ‘cosy & warm’ to keep tea hot on frosty mornings. I’m putting out a call to people who’d be interested in participating- and I’ll send you a teapot. I need you to be serious about finishing and sending the pot @ cosy back (I gave out several some years ago and have never heard/seen of them again!). Once I have a list of ten artists (which I will select with third party curatorial input)- I’ll apply for some funding for postage and an artist fee as well as a small publication, and then seek to find exhibition venues so it can travel. (these will depend on grant success of course). If I’m overwhelmed by interest, I’ll get more teapots made, and either expand the number beyond 10- or have a different lineup a year later. Who knows...might be a fun annual event! (I’m also aware of the great knitting and crocheting expertise at large in the community- maybe there’s room for your mum, uncle or aunt in the lineup. Looking forward to hearing from you- either self nominations or suggestions...thanks. See more
