07.01.2022 It’s 2 years since my little bubbles broke and our happy daschie world once again turned on its head. She went down fast and critically, and after my hands stopped shaking and I picked up her little limp body and held her, my head went into autopilot as I knew what I needed to do. I was in the car driving to Brisbane (100 km away), it was 4pm, I hit peak hour in Brisbane and of course, I took a wrong turn! She was a Grade 5; she had no deep pain and had lost all functions.... I knew that I was asking her surgeon for a miracle, but I also had faith in my girl. She was a fighter. Move forward two years and we are now living a happy new normal. She has a minor deficit on the right, I probably see it more than anyone else, she sometimes forgets to lift that leg when she is concentrating on something else - like a bird flying past We still have regular maintenance check-ups which include acupuncture, I find this so very helpful as my physio reminds me that it's very important to keep ahead of this disease. I often say "time and patience" is critical when it comes to IVDD and looking back on the photos & videos this morning preparing this post emphasises how true this is. Never say never.
