20.01.2022 Johnny Cash was born on this day in 1932. Born to poor cotton farmers in Kingsland, Arkansas, Cash rise to fame in the burgeoning rickabilly scene in Memphis, Tennessee after time in the Airforce. Cash was a driving force in the music industry throughout the 60s and 70s. Declining sales during the early 80s saw Cash dropped by Columbia Records in 1985 - the end of a 30 year partnership. Cash shot back to stardom in the 1990s for a whole new generation with his American Stories collection, produced by Run DMC and Aerosmiths producer, Rick Rubin Cash died at the age of 71 in September 2003. We will pay homage to Cash tomorrow morning from 10am with his live album At Folsom Prison, in full, commercial free, as our Isolation Album.

11.01.2022 2TM Isolation Album this week is Parallel Lines from Blondie. This was the third album from the New York City outfit which would finally give the group both the singles to crack the commercial market and also silence the harshest critics in their home country (after some minor hits throughout the 70s in the United Kingdom and also Australia). Produced by Australian, Mike Chapman, who stumbled across the group while on holidays in California. Parallel Lines would later go on to popularise the look and sound of 1980s New Wave and would also be the benchmark for a whole generation of bands. Find out why - when we play Parallel Lines from Blondie in full and commercial free this morning from 10am as part of our Isolation Albums on 1287 2TM.

10.01.2022 This morning from 10am our Isolation Album is The Joshua Tree from U2. The group decided to put a more "cinematic" touch to their next record after the 1984 album "The Unforgettable Fire". The group sought inspiration from themes of American politics, literature and experiences. The Joshua Tree received critical acclaim, topped the charts in over 20 countries, and became the fastest-selling album in British history. According to Rolling Stone, the album increased the band's... stature "from heroes to superstars". It produced the hit singles "With or Without You", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", and "Where the Streets Have No Name". The album won Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1988 Catch U2s The Joshua Tree, in full and commercial free this morning from 10am only on 1287 2TM.
