23.01.2022 So I have been informed our 12 Geese in the park are under threat of being taken away for good! I have tracked the history of the geese in our park b...ack to at least 60 years ago. (Much longer then some people have resided here themselves.) So I think well ingrained in our local culture. So I’m throwing this out there to see what people think. Would you be sad to see them go or happy? I’m sure I know what the majority thinks due to the response previously when some have been injuredand killed and even just my photos that I have shared and I’m also aware they are not everyone’s cup of tea also and can be a bit messy like any animal. I have met people all around the country and when I have said I’m from Coonabarabran some have commented that’s where the geese are. Also when my office was across the road dozens of people would pull up and take photos and videos of them weekly. I believe it would be a sad day in Coonabarabran the day they were removed as I for one have great childhood memories of an outing out to feed and visit them and I am sure so many others are in the same boat with similar memories and stories. I also know some of our locals and elderly residents daily routine is to go and feed them. So not only a bit of a tourist attraction but purpose for an outing. I’ve put this up so people are aware about this issue and it doesn’t go under the radar. Anyway let me know below what you think. Feel free to share this so it goes beyond my friends list! See more

22.01.2022 SHIRE WIDE WATER RESTRICTIONS LIFTED Water restrictions in all towns across the Warrumbungle Shire area will be lifted from Monday, 20 April. As a result of go...od rainfall in the catchment areas across the Shire, water supplies have been replenished to a sustainable level, said Warrumbungle Shire Council mayor, Denis Todd. After seeing the increase in water supply levels, Council decided to lift all restrictions. This will be the first time in three years that no water restrictions have been in place in the Shire area. Cr Todd said it had been a long and dry few years for local communities. Council appreciates the efforts that residents and businesses have taken to reduce their water usage, he said. While the water restrictions have been removed, the uncertainty around forecast rain means our communities need to remain conscious of the amount of water we are using. Water sources will continue to be monitored closely and Council will follow the Drought Management Plan for guidance on restrictions and management actions for across the Shire. We appreciate your compliance with water restrictions over the past few years and we hope our communities respect this lift of restrictions and continue to use water sustainably, Cr Todd said.
