24.01.2022 Friday, 12 February 2021 Priority: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Dear Parents, Cadets, and Recruits, Please take immediate note of the message below from OC 314 in regards recent updates to Victoria's Covid status.... REF: No Parade for 15FEB21 and 17FEB21 As you may or may not have heard, because of the Coronavirus (UK) strain risks, the State of Victoria will effectively go into Lockdown from 2359 Hrs 12FEB2021 until 2359 Hrs Wednesday 17FEB2021. This means that persons will be required to stay at home and only leave for specific purposes. As a result, 314 ACU will NOT Parade on Monday in Warrnambool and NOT Parade on Wednesday in Hamilton. This is for our safety and is right and proper. Do not attend the Units on either of these nights as the facilities will be closed. I will get a message to you when we are permitted to return to Parading. IRT Exercise Resolute, it is most likely that this will not go ahead on the 19FEB2021 but be rescheduled to later in the year when we have more certainty about infection rates and what is being done to manage them for everyone’s safety. The date will most likely be in April when the weather is even better, however you will receive notification of the date when confirmed. I am not concerned but believe that this deferral will give us all a clearer understanding of how all of Victoria is dealing with the Covid-19 virus and importantly the UK strain which is extremely infectious. I am resolute in my belief that we will return to Parading soon and we will be able to attend our exercise not long after. The lockdown means to me that we will be in the safest place possible and we are supporting all Victorians, Cadets and Communities to get on top of this virus. Then we can all get back to Cadets. I am sure that you all join with me in that our thoughts and sympathies go out to those people and their families who have been infected or affected by the virus and subsequent economic uncertainty and hardships. We all hope that everyone comes through these challenging times both in good health and part of a more connected community. Please contact either myself or LT(AAC) Michael Byrne (0421 380 442) should you have any questions or concerns. My very best respects and regards to you all. 04.01.2022 The 2021 Anzac Day Schools’ Awards are now open, encouraging students to learn about veteran service and Australian wartime history by asking the question, ‘what does commemoration look like in your community?’
