25.01.2022 What does the Lang Lang #SteinwayBlackDiamond sound like? A milestone in Steinway history! Hear for yourself http://fal.cn/Agk8 Steinway & Sons X Lang Lang - X Dakota Jackson

25.01.2022 Major repair to Kawai,High Gloss Black,Grand Piano Fall Board. The fall board had been badly damaged in transit. The curved edge had split and the outer timber ply layer had started separating from the core . As this was covered in high gloss polyester, the polyester had cracked. In the second picture the outer ply layer can be seen to have pulled away from the substrate. To repair this properly small cuts needed to be made to relieve the stress in the ply before high stren...gth glue and clamps were applied. Pictures 5 & 6 show the fall board after all pieces have been glued. Once the glue had dried Konig Australia black polyester could be applied to blend in the repair. The final step was sanding with multiple grades of wet & dry sand paper. The last grade being 3000 grit before the cut & polish using Menzerna Australia products. As there are no true "piano" polishing products, I have tried a large number of automotive polishing compounds and have found Menzerna Australia products to be the best for polyester & lacquer pianos.

20.01.2022 Polishing a beautiful 21ft Chris Craft Heritage.

19.01.2022 Polyester crack repair to Steinway & Sons, Model B. The repair required the cracks to be ground open and then filled with new polyester. The damaged polyester on the front corner had lifted off the timber substrate. If the loose polyester is not fully removed then a proper repair cannot be completed. After filling each cracked area, it is then sanded flat with successively finer grit sand papers ending with 3000 grit. ... The last stages are cutting and polishing to bring out the high gloss.

18.01.2022 Some unfortunate damage to a lovely Steinway & Sons concert grand. But it can always be fixed.

17.01.2022 Another happy customer! I had the pleasure of detailing this Steinway & Sons, Model B.

17.01.2022 Boston Grand Piano fall board repair. Konig Australia products get the job done perfectly.

16.01.2022 Grandma recently visited from Canada and brought her music box she had as a child and asked if I could give it a quick touch up.

16.01.2022 My latest piano restoration. A beautiful Collard & Collard, English upright piano circa 1917. Every felt inside was totally moth eaten. The piano had been given a death sentence by a previous piano tuner/salesman.

16.01.2022 When only a mirror finish will do. Some before and after pics. Menzerna Australia products do a top job.

12.01.2022 The power of Konig products in the correct hands

11.01.2022 Mohawk Finishing Products have a top range of products which I use regularly on timber coloured pianos and furniture. I was asked to quickly repair this corner moulding on this very used and worn Bechstein grand piano.

11.01.2022 Quick polish of a Kawai upright to finish the week.

08.01.2022 Steinway Model M. Circa 1928. This was a full rebuild performed by 345 Design. Complete rebuild time approximately 12weeks. All Pins & Strings were replaced. Soundboard hand sanded, repaired and then varnish applied. The iron frame had been cracked but was professionally welded back to full strength. It was removed, repaired and then resprayed with ultra hard , metallic gold , automotive lacquer. ... The action was fully dismantled and all felts, hammer heads & dampers were replaced. The cabinet was completely stripped, hand sanded & repaired. Multiple coats of piano lacquer were then applied and finally hand rubbed to full gloss. The piano is owned by a professional pianist so it is used 5-6hours every day.

08.01.2022 I was recently asked to repair the lower trim on a front panel from a high gloss Mahogany piano. This is after others had attempted a repair. This was an extremely difficult repair as it has a timber grain finish coated in high gloss polyester and the trim had actually broken in two pieces. The first few pictures show the damage (after a repair attempt!) The fourth picture showing the trim after it was unscrewed from the panel. It is broken in two pieces with a poor attempt ...at joining the pieces together with bamboo skewers. The first part of the repair was to cut away the damaged ends and use proper timber dowels to join the pieces together and ensure they were aligned on all faces. I then had to fill in the gap where I had cut away the ends. The best thing to use here is a piece of timber so there is some form of grain followed by some filler to take up all the other gaps. Next I applied some colour to start blending in the repair.Lastly I applied Konig Australia polyester filler to bring back the high gloss. The last picture shows the finished work. Although the repair isn't hidden 100%, I was very happy with finished work considering where it started.
