20.01.2022 Let’s PAR-TEE because Lachie is pain free! Lachlan started seeing Lucy at our Gunnedah location in September as he had been experiencing lower back pain for over 10 years! Lachlan is a keen golfer but found he couldn’t play 8 holes of golf without his pain becoming increasingly worse and unfortunately hadn’t found anything that kept the pain at bay long term - until now!... After just 4 consultations and commitment to his home exercise program, Lachlan is now playing 18 holes of golf pain free Is back pain keeping you from doing the things you love? Come and see us today or call us on 6762 3639 and you too can get back to doing the things you love sooner! #lowerbackpain #chronicpain #movementismedicine #corestrength #mobility #happygolfer #exercisephysiology #gunnedah

13.01.2022 On average, men die six years earlier than women and for reasons that are mostly preventable. Which means there are things WE, and YOU can do to support men live healthier, happier and longer lives. MOVEMBER is the leading charity changing the face of men's health and they want every man to know these FIVE things: TALK MORE - You don’t need to be an expert, just be there for someone, listening and giving your time can save a life... SPEND TIME with people who make you feel good. Stay connected. Spending time with mates is good for you. Check-in and make time KNOW THE NUMBERS. At 50, talk to your GP about prostate cancer and whether it’s right for you to have a PSA test KNOW THY NUTS. Get to know what’s normal for your testicles. Get them checked regularly and ask your GP if something doesn’t feel right MOVE MORE. Add more activity to your day and do what makes you feel good. Cycle to work? Take the stairs instead of the elevator? #movember #menshealthawareness #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #prostatecancer #testicularcancer #connect #exerciseismedicine

12.01.2022 VETERANS HEALTH WEEK As part of Mental Health Month and Veteran's Health Week, we asked our DVA group their thoughts about the role exercising both individually and as a group plays in managing their mental health. While all of these wonderful men have been referred to an Exercise Physiologist for the management of physical conditions, they are all unanimous about one thing exercise helps significantly reduce stress and anxiety, and improves their mental health.... This weekly session is an opportunity for them to exercise together whilst having some playful banter in a group they can all associate with and feel accepted in. The coffee afterwards also seems to go down a treat! Brian 'I enjoy the group as it’s the only group I associate with, they’ve similar situation and understanding. It also increasing my quaility of life which makes life easier' Tony 'Helps manage my stress and anxiety, it gives something each week to look forward too' Joe 'I like the social aspect both in the DVA group and with other members of the gym when doing individual sessions and group classes' Ray 'I really enjoy the comradery of the group and being able to share life experiences. I always feel better within myself when leaving the gym' Dave 'Love the playful banter in the group, helps clear the mind and know you’re not alone. EP helps me target individual goals and achieve them which makes me feel good and better my health' #exercisephysiology #exerciseismedicine #mentalhealth #veteranshealthweek #movementforthemind #comrades #mateship #openarms #mentalhealthmonth Tamworth RSL Sub Branch

10.01.2022 It's World Diabetes Day! The theme this year is 'The Nurse and Diabetes'. Did you know that nurses currently account for over half of the global health workforce!? This years campaign aims to raise awareness around the role that nurses play in supporting people living with diabetes including:... Diagnosing diabetes early to ensure prompt treatment Providing self-management training and psychological support for people with diabetes to help prevent complications Tackling the risk factors for type 2 diabetes to help prevent the condition As the number of people with diabetes continues to rise across the world , the role of nurses and other health professionals (like us!) becomes increasingly important in managing the impact of the condition. The number of nurses trained and employed needs to grow by 8% a year to overcome alarming shortfalls in the profession by 2030. #worlddiabetesday #thenurseanddiabetes #t2diabetes #t1diabetes #gestationaldiabetes #chronicdisease #education #support #health

05.01.2022 As we near the end of Veteran’s Health Week we want to share this year’s theme - SOCIAL CONNECTION. And we couldn’t think of a more suitable one considering the curveballs 2020 has thrown. We have seen a number of our Veteran’s build on, and form new social connections since starting Exercise Physiology with us. Whether it is the weekly banter with their EP or other members, or new friendships built from sharing space during their exercise routines, we love supporting you and... appreciate these connections we share with our Veteran’s. #veteranshealthweek #socialconnection #mentalhealth #wellbeing #newfriends #supportnetwork #health #exercisephysiology #dva

01.01.2022 Guess who’s back, back again!? Des is back and sporting some great new PB’s!! You may remember Des from one of our posts a few months ago. Des was involved in work accident resulting in an incomplete spinal cord injury rendering him without the use of his left leg and with neuropathic pain from his lower back through his left leg. Over the last 2 months, Des has been attending the gym twice a week and the results are showing This force to be reckoned with has increas...ed his bench press from 40kg to 80kg, his single-leg calf raise from 10kg to 15kg and is now towing around a sled (plus Britt on occasion) weighing 25kg in total. An absolute rockstar in our eyes! Keep up the amazing work Des! #exercisephysiology #strength #menshealth #incompletespinalcordinjury #personalbest #workplaceinjury #exerciseismedicine #alwaystimeforsomefun
