25.01.2022 Junior Strength and Performance Camp begins next week!! We launched our Junior camp in January school holidays and it was a big hit with 17 juniors rocking up to learn foundations of movement, improve strength, develop conditioning and witness their in game performance advance! 22.01.2022 OLYMPIC LIFTING The olympic lifts are a huge benefit to the athlete when it comes to developing power. If anything, they are the most superior exercise for the making of explosive athletes. However, due to the complex nature of the lift it only becomes beneficial when they are performed correctly and at a relatively heavy load.... Many athletes bypass this exercise because it takes time to learn how to execute it correcly and therefore struggle to fit it into their training schedule . I'm here to tell you that the best time to learn HOW to perform the lifts is in your 'off-season' . Otherwise you'll end up using your pre-season learning how to perform the lifts instead of developing power, when you really need it going into competition. Yes, off-season is generally used to develop as much muscle mass as possible (depending on your sport) however if you feel you already have sufficient muscle mass, then maybe its time to learn these lifts so you can focus on becoming more powerful. If you feel you don't have enough muscle mass then you have the choice of either 1) going into a full hypertrophy block 2) shortening your hypertrophy block and learning olympic lifting or 3) sacraficing the hypertrophy block as a once off and focus on olympic lifting purely. 22.01.2022 Sadly... many kids these days can’t even do a pull up. Why? Schools need to keep kids safe and therefore ban monkey bars, climbing trees, etc... then there’s technology too.

18.01.2022 Elevated Half Kneeling Anti-Rotational Oblique Med Ball Wall Pass (Phew took a while to say that exercise!) - a great exercise to challenge more than just the core! @ilovepelican as a gridiron runner back will need to keep his core as stable as possible while taking external hits from opposing players as he charges through not just the opposition but also his own teammates. Bumping happens without a doubt! The foam roller is to prevent rotation of his hip, but will ...allow for rotation of his upper trunk. As I said before, a runner back needs a stable core to take hits from the side but they also need to be able to use their upper trunk to defend/ protect themselves. . . . The split stance position is to replicate a runners stance (as best as possible) while being on two feet only. . . . The med ball is to act as the external force. As the ball is slammed against the wall, a fast reversal will ensure that Kia uses his core to absorb the impact and maintain stability. You could also have him maintain the position in the middle of the floor while throwing a Swiss ball at him from random sides. Great exercise for almost anyone playing impact sport. 08.01.2022 To everyone who values the service of a gym, You know how hard it was not being able to go to gym for the 11 weeks we were shut down. Therefore you know how hard it will be if we were to be shut down again. Don’t think it can’t happen to us in NSW as that is probably what everyone in the state of Victoria thought too.... So despite what your thoughts or opinions are on COVID, just follow policy for the sake of being able to keep business open and food on families tables. * washing hands before entering gym * wiping down and packing away equipment after each use * cover mouth/ nose with elbow if you cough or sneeze * washing hands when you leave the gym THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ONE * staying home if you feeling like you have a cold or flu and preferably getting tested. Last thing you want is to be responsible for the spread of COVID and the closure of your local gym. That’s a heavy weight to carry. Victoria - as a gym owner I feel for you. These are a few of our 360 boys selected from around Australia to earn their right to wear the green and gold.
