25.01.2022 One of 365 Care's most important goals is to help as many older adults in Western Sydney to live safely and comfortably in their own homes for as long as possible. Read how Edith’s story shows how home care can provide as much independence as possible following a stroke. https://bit.ly/2MmEY0p
24.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be! 365 Care celebrates National NAIDOC Week, supporting all our Indigenous staff, clients and their families. The 2020 theme has been developed to shine a focus on the length of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander occupation of Australia. In the narratives of Aboriginal people, they talk of continuous occupation of being here when time began, being a part of the Dreaming past, present and future.... Anthropologists and archaeologists have dated sites to being hundreds of thousands of years old, in fact recording some of these sites as being the oldest on this planet. NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. See what’s on here: https://bit.ly/2LeXAh7
23.01.2022 Clients often have trouble working through the aged care system to get the services they need such as with an aged care assessment (ACAT) and a package approval. We were able to support a client’s daughter who had issues getting the necessary approvals to access respite support for her mother, and for a home care package when she needed it. Sadly, we recently received news that her mother, our client, passed away. She was approved for a home care package, but it wasn’t allo...cated until a week after she passed away. Unfortunately, we often receive similar messages. Our clients need and deserve a better system! Our thoughts are with her daughter, Lorraine and the family. #villagelocal #agedcare #lovedones #loss #missingyou #homecareservices #family

21.01.2022 Q: Where are the job growth opportunities? A: In the #care industry! The #communitycareservice and #healthindustry are increasing at twice the average rate of all other industries and is projected to generate one in four of all new jobs in the near future. ... The introduction of #NDIS has also created many employment opportunities, as more people are able to access funding to help support them in their daily lives. If you have a passion for caring for people, and are looking to work in one of the fastest growing industries in Australia, then this could be exactly the right career change for you. The average age group for a care worker currently is 45 to 55 years, and so it attracts many people looking for a career change or an opportunity to return to work. Whilst currently, 80% of carers are female, there is a growing trend for male care workers. We are currently recruiting, so if you would like to join our team of dedicated and passionate carers. https://bit.ly/3l5MMjh #jobvacancy #employmentopportunity #disabilitysupportworker #agedcareworker

17.01.2022 How do you adjust your behaviour towards someone with a #mentalhealth illness or #learningdifficulties? Public awareness campaigns have improved our understanding, but still there are many people in our community who suffer with hidden disabilities. #Anxiety, #depression, learning and processing difficulties are just some of the things that many Australians struggle with on a daily basis and can't be 'seen'.... Making allowances for someone with a physical disability, such as stepping aside for a wheelchair, helping someone on walking sticks up and down stairs etc, can be easier to address, as the disability can be seen. But how about for people with #hiddendisabilities? Unwillingness to engage can be misinterpreted as aloofness. An unexpected answer, can be taken as being 'smart'. Inflexible thinking can be viewed as being intolerant. Perseverance, can lead to frustration. Lack of eye contact can be gauged as being untrustworthy (in Western culture). And so the list goes on. Ask yourself: What allowances do you make? Do you: Stop. Reflect. Accommodate? Or just move on? #Hiddendisabilities #NDIS #disabilitycare #RUO #tolerance #inclusion
17.01.2022 Getting It Right for People Living with Dementia in COVID-19! COVID-19 has exposed some of the vulnerabilities experienced by older people in our communities. In recent years, reforms to Australia's aged care system as well as our rapidly ageing populations in Western Sydney demonstrate just how important it is to 'get it right' in our services to older people, especially those living with dementia. In our upcoming livestream, our host Billie Sankovic, Western Sydney Communit...y Forum’s Chief Executive, asks: 1. Are people living with dementia best supported in community settings? 2. How can we rethink approaches to dementia care? 3. What is happening at both policy and practice levels? Join our own John Krisenthal and other industry experts discuss how we can 'get it right' for people living with dementia. WHEN: Wednesday 7 October 2020, 1.00 pm Join the zoom meeting here! https://bit.ly/3l7uC0t
16.01.2022 Q: Do you like making a difference for others? A: YES! Then join the #agedcare or #disability sector! Often, we think of working with children when we think of making a difference in people's lives. However, working at the other end of the spectrum with people who have experienced so much in life, have so many stories to share and years of wisdom can be extremely rewarding. ... Offering them respect and helping them maintain their dignity and live with challenging conditions, is just one way of giving back. Are you hardworking, reliable, passionate about helping more vulnerable members in our community? If you love caring and can listen and understand a person’s needs and are willing to learn, then we’d love to have you join our team. https://bit.ly/3l5MMjh #jobvacancy #trainingopportunity #employmentopportunity #villagelocal
