24.01.2022 EVEREADY BUSTED (GoGetta Basil x Milburn Molly) Still working it all out and developing, but it’s amazing to watch the qualities of his outstanding parents, grand & G grand parents slowly coming through & combining to not just merely keep a line going but to hopefully improve it! Love watching him nutting it out, being more concerned that the mob is going the wrong way than the split, then breaking to the head under pressure - better than 99% of adult dogs. Obviously NFS.

17.01.2022 REDUCE RISK OF HEAT STRESS Dogs overheating isn’t just caused by high temps, it’s often not that hot, but there is a rise in temp & humidity, long grass which is not only hard to run through but also reduces air flow, combined with a young, unfit/overweight, keen, overworking dog that isn’t steadied by the handler, will all contribute to a dog that will cook itself in a matter of minutes! There’s times when we’ve got no choice but to work in the heat, but there’s also so much... that we can do to minimise the risk. 1. WATER & SHADE are the obvious ones,- carry with, offer often but don’t let drink too much at a time. Electrolytes can be added for big/hot days. 2. ROTATE & STOP from OVERWORKING. Every time dog moves when it’s not needed, STOP IT! You need to be it’s voice of reason if it’s overly keen. 3. CARRY A SPARE. Make sure you’re not under-dogged. In this vid could of managed with 1 dog, 2 would of been perfect, but by having all four out it teaches them to relax and hold the point, rather than desperatly running back and forth. They’ll also now relax on back of side by side (aft a quick drink/dip in trough) while they are resting (cooling down) between rotations, for the next 4km. 4. SLOW DOWN & HELP. Do most the heavy lifting yourself, & just get the dog/s to track on a point. 5. KEEP FIT between busy times. 08.01.2022 A Hugh thankyou to Jarrod Alcorn and all the team (the quiet achievers) from Wando Estate for organising such a smooth running workshop, with great facilities, food & refreshments, no-nonsense stock people and some pretty handy hounds. In this clip Jarrod is polishing up his top worker Karmala Boss, while we discuss how to give our dogs more tools to get the job done easily and efficiently. Through necessity we sometimes have to throw young dogs into full on work before they’re fully trained, so always beneficial to go back and work on the missing links that stop us from progressing.

All bitches tryed and tested on the job, with a clear objective; - to consolidate & improve a practical line of allround sheep/cattle workers with stocksense, stamina, intelligence, the ability to cover and force when needed with solid compliant temperament. 06.01.2022 Yard Trial dogs GoGetta Clue, (Vic Champ) & Dream both by Aust Yard Champ GoGetta Brue out of GoGetta Bosker bitches (Runner up to GoGetta Agro 2005 Aust Champs) calmly tracking on their wings and showing natural feel & stop. Boxed so many mobs, its hard to know numbers but well over 3000 ewes plus their lambs brought in so far for jettting (fly prevention) and put back on fresh feed.

Very early days and huge shoes to fill, but a concerted effort to consolidate and bring forward the qualities of one of the all time greats - Boanong Buster, through two of his best progeny. 06.01.2022 Please make sure you keep an eye on your team over summer. Long feed, humidity, small rise in temp and fresh young dogs is a recipe for cooking your hounds. Giving all the afternoon team a run before being rotated in pairs. Boxing 800 twinning ewes with 700 (so mob of 4000 sheep) taking 4 km, drafting then back on feed. Over 9000 drafted over two days. All dogs used in paddock & yards.... Notice dogs didn’t stop at trough while working, because they’re always offered a drink regularly, - well BEFORE any signs of heat stress, plus when job is finished. See more
