25.01.2022 ST FLORIAN’S DAY | Today marks St Florian’s Day - also known as International Firefighters Day. St Florian is the patron saint of firefighters. Today we celebra...te the dedicated men and women who work each day to protect you, the irreplaceable. Whether it’s rescuing you from a car crash, providing emergency medical care to your loved one or humanitarian relief to your community - our firefighters do so much more than fight fire. We are #PreparedForAnything. Today, we also remember all firefighters who have lost their lives while serving others. While we can’t celebrate this important day the way we usually would; we join together in commemoration, as we stay apart. #FRNSW #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #MoreThanFire #OurPeople

24.01.2022 **A message from our Commissioner Paul Baxter** Today Fire and Rescue NSW pay tribute to all who have bravely served to protect our country. We have a close re...lationship with the armed forces, with many of our firefighters joining to serve the community after serving their country. This year we couldn’t attend services; so we join together in remembrance, as we stay apart. Lest we forget.

23.01.2022 Please travel safely these holidays. This was last year when even Santa got stopped for sleigh safety checks in Murrurundi whilst doing the Santa run.

22.01.2022 Santa run is just starting. Listen out for the siren!!! Merry Christmas

20.01.2022 With an increase in the use of hand sanitiser, we’d like to remind everyone that its contents are flammable. If you’re planning a BBQ this weekend, please ensur...e that you completely dry your hands after using hand sanitiser before coming into contact with a naked flame. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable See more

20.01.2022 The temperatures are set to drop across NSW. Don't let your standards! A fire can take hold in 3 minutes, it only takes seconds to prevent one. Frayed or damage...d cords can start a fire. If you have an electric blanket on your bed check that it's in good working order before using it tonight. 19.01.2022 The recruits enjoyed some more favourable weather for Phase 2 training and are now responding to fire calls. Congratulations.

15.01.2022 Never overload a powerboard and regularly inspect powerboard cords for signs of damage and degradation. Statistics show that over 350 residential house fires ar...e started by electrical faults in NSW each year. Don't let it happen to you. 09.01.2022 Last night our crew did some cordage training simulating a rescue from the side of a hill or steep slope. Although it looks like the mountains of the Moon, we are in Murrurundi. Thrown in for effect was the cold weather, wind, muddy ground and slippery hillside, spiky bushes, darkness and occasional wildlife interruptions! #preparedforanything

09.01.2022 Thank you to the Murrurundi Lions Club for sponsoring the lolly run again this year. It's a pleasure working with you each year to bring smiles to the children of Murrurundi.

09.01.2022 Welcome to Open Day 2020! Normally, we would launch our Open Day with the very special kids at Westmead Children Hospital Burns Unit. We were unable to do that ...this year, but we did take them on a virtual tour through our busiest fire station Fire and Rescue NSW Station 001 City of Sydney which you can watch in the video below. We'd love to share some good wishes with the kids, so leave a comment below and we will pass it on! Open Day has always been our most popular day on the calendar and for good reason. By opening our station doors every year and inviting you in, it gives us a chance to chat about who we are and what we do here at Fire and Rescue NSW. This year we’ve had to rethink the traditional and do things a little differently so while we couldn’t open the station doors to you, we are doing the next best thing and bringing the station to you! So, thanks for joining us, and we hope to see you and speak with you throughout the next week! #FRNSWOpenDay2020 #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #MoreThanFire

07.01.2022 If you’re planning on keeping cosy by the fire today, please check your chimney is clean and ensure you use dry, seasoned wood. 06.01.2022 Tonight, change your clocks, check your smoke alarms! 2019 Winter fire data shows that almost 25% of smoke alarms did not operate in house fires. Fire moves fas...t, and working smoke alarms are one of the best early warning signs. Don’t risk it, test it. Working smoke alarms help save lives. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

06.01.2022 Ever thought of standing up for your community as an On Call Firefighter, here's a short look at some of the practical training all firefighters undertake.

06.01.2022 DO YOU HAVE APP THAT CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE? Emergency Services are calling for everyone to have the Emergency+ app installed on your mobile devices to help you provide accurate location information when calling Triple Zero (000). Download Emergency+ Now: https://emergencyapp.triplezero.gov.au... It is available for Apple, Android and Windows smart phones. Share this post with your family, friends and followers - so everyone can have the app installed. The Emergency+ app is a free app developed by Australia's emergency services and their Government and industry partners. The app uses GPS functionality built into smart phones to help a Triple Zero (000) caller provide critical location details required to mobilise emergency services.

05.01.2022 To most 343 is just a number. To nearly all firefighters around the world, it is a humbling reminder of the events that took place in New York on this day, 19 y...ears ago. This is because on 9/11, 343 New York City Fire Department (FDNY) firefighters did not finish their shift. The tragedy claimed the lives of 2977 innocent victims, and many continue to be impacted. To date, 227 additional firefighters have died with illnesses related to 9/11, with 27 names recently added to the FDNY World Trade Centre Memorial Wall. FRNSW shares deep and personal connections with FDNY, we will never forget the immediate and ongoing loss they were dealt and continue to deal with, all those affected are in our thoughts today. 01.01.2022 Our firefighters from across Region West have banded together to raise money to support the Jordan family by selling beanies in the lead up to the colder months.... Bridie is the daughter of Damien Jordan, Deputy Captain at 300 Gilgandra station. Bridie suffers from Mainzer Saldino Syndrome, a rare genetic syndrome only diagnosed in around 20 others internationally. It effects bone growth and organs in the body. As a result of this, Bridie's kidneys are failing, and she's currently undergoing extensive treatment in Sydney, hundreds of kilometres from home. This fundraiser has been set up by firefighters in Region West Area Command, and is designed to help support the family, who have been forced to live away from home during Bridie's treatment. In 2018, Damien Jordan was the second highest individual fundraiser in the Firies Climb for Motor Neurone Disease. It's time for us to support Damien and his family during their time of need. To purchase your beanie, simply visit our website at https://beaniesforbridie.com.au/
