25.01.2022 West Gippsland Week (WGW) is now a 2 hour program and starts at 6pm tonight. Local news, views and music. The program will be repeated on Sunday morning at 6am (with some minor variations). Thanks for listening to 3BBR, and if you are not already a member consider becoming one!

24.01.2022 Whilst we await any news on the lockdown, some changes for this evenings programs. At 6pm, when Sam would normally be in with his alternative rock show, we will replay Tecka's Tracks, from the Community Radio Network, which is a also a rock show, but not quite as alternative!(Tecka's Tracks is currently heard at 4pm every Saturday). At 8pm "It's Time" will make it's usual fortnightly appearance (regularly heard now at 1pm on Saturdays). That will be followed by "Aussie Music ...is Bloody Great" at 9pm (will probably play this fortnightly in this spot for a little while). Changes are inevitable in the current environment, we hope that the presenters that want to be live can soon resume their normal timeslots. Stay safe and thanks for listening to 103.1 3BBR

23.01.2022 Coming up on 3BBR: Serendipity at 2pm The Folk Show at 6pm Turn Up Your Radio at 7pm... A Jazz Hour at 9pm Jazz Made in Australia at 10pm The Pakenham Gazette (replay) at 11pm New York Jazz at midnight. See more

23.01.2022 Currently we are off the air due to power failure in Drouin. The estimate I have at the moment is restoration by 6.30pm.

22.01.2022 Something to do on the 20th, along with the Ficifolia Festival.

21.01.2022 Two of the last 3 episodes of Bing Crosby and Friends are playing tonight at 8pm. Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, 3BBR will be playing a couple of special programs at 10am: Service Voices - ... DVA: AUSTRALIA REMEMBERS RAY WHEELER & TOM UREN From the Department of Veterans' Affairs 75 Days, 75 Stories Project, honouring the Australian men and women of World War Two.. JAN GROSVENOR, WAR WIDOW: THE PEOPLE OF STRAHAN & HMAS STRAHAN 75 YEARS ON In the 75th anniversary year of the end of WW11, the people of the little town of Strahan on the West Coast of Tasmania will gather to commemorate the visit at war's end of the Corvette HMAS Strahan. It will be thanks to the tenacity and love of the widow of one of the men aboard the Strahan in 1945 that this event will take place on Sunday 15.11.2020. Listeners are encouraged to attend. IAN PFENNIGWERTH: IN GOOD HANDS, THE LIFE OF DR SAM STENING RANR POW Repeat from our 2018 interview with Retired Navy Captain, Author, Dr Ian Pfennigwerth about his biography of Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Samuel 'Sam' Stening, DSC, Royal Australian Naval Reserve. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Around 10.30am - Unknown Soldier from the BBC World Service Moira Stuart tells the astonishing story of the idea of the Unknown Soldier. On the second anniversary of the armistice following the end of the Great War, the remains of a single Unknown Soldier were brought home from the battlefields of the Western Front. Given the scale of the carnage and the fact that so many of the fallen were simply unidentifiable, the idea to commemorate the dead through the remains of one anonymous soldier - that would represent them all - was more than just pragmatic. As an idea it had a symbolic, almost poetic, resonance. In this moving feature marking the centenary of Armistice Day, Moira asks whether the Unknown Soldier is finally an icon of war or peace; of sorrow and mourning or is he a warning to us still? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Following on will be the "Ode", the Last Post, 1 minute silence at 11am and, then, the Rouse. The 11am news will follow on, a little late, and then Gippsland Regional News. Thanks for listening.

20.01.2022 The last of the Bing Crosby and Friends episodes is on tonight at 8. Following that will be "It's Time" from the Community Radio network, which will run fortnightly (at 8pm from next fortnight) until we have the relevant presenter back at the studio. Looking at the best of the charts from this week in a year between 1960 and 1999! Hosts William Brougham and Barry McKay... also bring the year alive with trivia about the songs in the charts at the time. Don’t miss It’s Time - or your memory won’t forgive you! See more

18.01.2022 In a Sentimental Mood.... a "new" show from Community Radio Network..... up next on 103.1 3BBR FM.

18.01.2022 Turn Up Your Radio at 6pm and listen to Harvey and Tim bring you a full program of Aussie Music!! And at 10pm the brand new show (well from the Community Radio Network) simply called "The Folk Show". Thanks for listening.

18.01.2022 The Radio Reimagined series is almost finished (well it is finished but we have a couple more Bing Crosby and Friends episodes left so they will go to air on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8pm of this coming week). It does leave a hole in the programming so we are going to be playing some more Community Radio Network (CRN) programs to replace them. Hopefully, you will enjoy them (better than listening to random computer generated music anyway!). Obviously as presenters retu...rn to the station over the next couple of months some of these will disappear (or we will play them overnight). So to give you an idea what is planned (and plans may change!): This Thursday at 10pm - The Folk Show - if you like folk music you will like this show. Selecting the best of Anglo-Celtic, Australian and contemporary folk for over30 years. Join Julie Cavanagh, David Cavanagh, Eric Ford, David Long, Margaret Monks & Jane Bower for an hour of folk. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday Midnight: Vision Australia Hour (following on from our own reading of newspapers) The country’s largest service provision organisation for people who are blind or have low vision. It comprises the weekly programs Talking Vision (a weekly half-hour magazine program), New Horizons (a weekly fifteen minute program from Blind Citizens Australia), and the latest from Talking Tech ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturday 06.30am - Real World Gardener (note we will be a week behind with this program due to it's timing on the network) Something for everyone who likes gardening, no matter where you live in Australia. Presenter Marianne Cannon is a horticulturalist and educator presenting a new holistic approach to gardening organically. Join the team of leading gardening industry experts in garden design, plant health, growing your own vegies and herbs, learning to cook with exotic spices, and much more. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sunday 2pm - In a Sentimental Mood From the studios of Sydney’s Fine Music102.5, the program features stage musicals, film musicals, music from 30s, 40s, 50s - anything that puts you In a Sentimental Mood. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There will be more additions the following week (including some short stories). I will let you know about them towards the end of the week if I remember. You can always go to the website program guide and have a look. Click on the entries and it will tell you a bit about the program (in most cases!). 3bbrfm.org.au As usual thanks for listening.

16.01.2022 Jazz Just 4 U is on tonight at 6pm...... and then there is more jazz and some folk all the way through to 11pm. Thanks for listening.

16.01.2022 In line with the relaxation of the restrictions 3BBR live presenters are back on air. YAY! 3BBR will always take a cautious approach with respect to the safety of it's volunteers. Thanks for listening and stay safe!

15.01.2022 3BBR welcomes a new sponsor: WAS Gallery (Warragul Art Studio), 37 Latrobe Street. Drop in and say hello, and tell them that 3BBR sent you :) Their current exhibition features 3 Gippsland artists.... https://www.visitbawbaw.com.au/discover/explore/was-gallery/

15.01.2022 Changes are going to be happening slowly over the next few weeks. We are letting more "live" presenters get back to the station. With the need to maintain social distancing, and to allow proper cleaning, all live presenting will have at least a 1 hour gap between shows. That may mean some programs will be shortened. We will work on removing that restriction over the coming months. This will also mean some of the current programs will change times, at the moment there will be... no loss of the Community Radio Network programs but some will be shifted in time. Starting the changes off this week: Angela Lia is continuing recording from home (this is an option a few of us will take advantage of). Angela's program will move to Wednesday 9 -11am as of this week. Greg Lia will fill the Tuesday afternoon slot "live" but that wont start this week. Harvey and Tim have agreed / asked to move their fortnightly program to the 7pm - 9pm slot. This helps with the separation mentioned above, with John Curtis to return some time in March. So "Turn Up Your Radio" should be live again this week, and every two weeks after that (with the option of pre-recording when one or the other cannot make it). The buffer from 6pm will be "The Folk Show" from the Community Radio Network and the 2 jazz programs will follow from 9pm. Those that I know will continue to record at home, and avoid any risk, are: John Meyer José Meyer Richard Rejmer Rod Wellard (except for once every 4 weeks on "Jazz Just For You") Clinkas Tom McGhee Russel Blanchard (but will be live on his Sunday shows, as soon as we can) Gavin Sayers Angela Lia So that's how it stands at the moment, there is a bit of work to do to get everyone that wants to come back live up to speed. We thank them all for their patience. Any questions just ask away.

15.01.2022 Stay safe and out of the wind. Finally got the station back to almost normal this afternoon, after the outages caused some computer errors. Thanks to the team that spent the time working stuff out :)

14.01.2022 Back on the air now......

14.01.2022 Don't forget tonight just after the 6pm news is West Gippsland Week (with a sort of repeat of this on Sunday at 6am). At midnight there will be Vision Australia Week, following on from the replay of Latrobe Valley Express. "A weekly digest from Vision Australia, the country’s largest service provision organisation for people who are blind or have low vision.... It comprises the weekly programs Talking Vision (a weekly half-hour magazine program), New Horizons (a weekly fifteen minute program from Blind Citizens Australia), and the latest from Talking Tech." 6.30am in the morning is "Real World Gardener": Something for everyone who likes gardening, no matter where you live in Australia. Presenter Marianne Cannon is a horticulturalist and educator presenting a new holistic approach to gardening organically. Join the team of leading gardening industry experts in garden design, plant health, growing your own vegies and herbs, learning to cook with exotic spices, and much more. As usual, thanks for listening.

14.01.2022 A short power outage caused a little chaos, it should be all good now :) . The 4pm news will run a little later (around 4 minutes past). Drouin must be in the black hole at the moment.

14.01.2022 The Annual General Meeting of the station is this coming Wednesday evening. This year we are conducting it via ZOOM meeting, to continue to be risk averse with the COVID thing. If you would like to join us please send an email to [email protected] and we will arrange the invitation.

11.01.2022 Melody Vault with a Lucky Dip, presented by Angela Lia, starts in a new timeslot of 9am today (moved from Tuesday afternoon). This will remain a pre-recorded program. One good thing that has come out of this whole COVID situation is that we can be flexible with how our content is produced and presented.

09.01.2022 A special event this Sunday night at 6pm. A live recording of the Gippsland Symphony Orchestra will be heard! Recorded recently as the Orchestra returned to performances for the first time after the lockdown. Prepared by Paul Strickland it will fill in an hour of your Sunday listening. This MIGHT become a fortnightly regular.!

09.01.2022 Power failures in Drouin have caused us some issues this afternoon, then the computer did some crazy things. So anyway it's afternoon not night, or morning. Just so you know. It all seems to be OK at the moment!!

03.01.2022 West Gippsland Week on tonight at 6pm. Followed by Gavin's Funhouse. And then Beale Street Caravan (blues). At midnight there is a new show Vision Australia Hour, following on from the Latrobe Valley Express.

03.01.2022 Ok not winning at the moment. Seems we have more issues than I thought..... We will try and sort them out over the next little while!

01.01.2022 Up this evening at 8pm is a new short series called "Little Fictions" --- there are 52 of these at the moment so once a week they will be played, the time slot may change based on presenters returning to the studio over the next little while. "A half-hour storytelling program presented by Sydney actor, Ella Watson-Russell. Featuring contemporary short stories by authors from across Australia and read by actors, recorded at live performances or in studio. " Following that will... be " Listen to Older Voices", which may or may not stay the journey! "Presenting the stories, views & opinions of our older citizens. Positive ageing reinforces the principal that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to the community - hear about the life and times of people from their earliest memories onward. Now that the Baby Boomers have joined the ‘older generation’, we continue to bring more stories from them looking to the arts and music scene.
