24.01.2022 I recently had a fantastic chat to Jane McNaughton from ABC Country Hour about my family's journey back to farming after Covid decimated the events industry and our love for regenerative agrictulture and the positive impact we can have on our land. Hope you're all keeping warm our there... brrrrrrrrr <3 :)

23.01.2022 Hey everyone. Trentham Happy Hens have been so helpful and supportive of us as we begin our pastured egg journey. They are currently looking for homes for some of their chooks. They are young and ready to lay, you can be assured they are healthy and happy. ... If you’re looking for a few chooks for your backyard you don’t need to look further.

22.01.2022 Hi everyone We're excited to be starting the week with some good news for the lovely people of Woodend. Our delicious pasture raised 'Brave Hen' eggs are now available at Black Forest Meats on High St, another local, family run enterprise dedicated to providing this community with great food!... Our community is doing so much in these testing times to support local producers like ourselves and we couldn't be more thankful. Big <3 to you all!

21.01.2022 Definitely the highlight of the day for our Brave Hens! A good diet equals healthy delicious eggs and our girls get the best. ... See more

20.01.2022 Brave Hen Pastured Eggs are now available to the lovely folk of Mt Macedon. We’re thrilled to have our produce amongst the amazing array of savoury and sweet treats at the Mt Macedon Trading Post. Thanks to Brad and the team! (Tim apologises for looking like an egg ninja)

18.01.2022 Our Brave Hens love their free roaming diets and we spoil them even more with veggie scraps from our friendly family grocer. It's what makes their eggs so delicious and healthy. Don't forget to place your weekly order for Brave Hen Pastured Eggs by 7pm tonight at https://3bearsfarm.com.au/my-account/. We will deliver this Thursday to our hubs in Trentham, Tylden, Kyneton, Macedon, Woodend and New Gisborne.... <3

17.01.2022 When we first moved here stock troughs were either connected to drinking water or the cattle waded into the dams to drink. :( The garden relied on drinking water from the same tank the house was on and the pressure was terrible. Not an acceptable or sensible way to operate a farm as far as we were concerned. So we hatched out a plan to move water from one of our dams to the highest point on the property via a solar pump and a network of agricultural pipe spanning the property... that would not only provide clean damn water for our stock in every paddock but also the garden and poly tunnels. This would allow us to fence off the damns and seasonal creek to prevent any further erosion or silting and to allow our reveg work and give a chance for habitat to recover. We also recognised the opportunity to incorporate high flow filling points to aid in our fire preparations. Over a kilometre of trenches were dug just after Madeleine went into hospital last year. The work was actually a great distraction during a high stress few months. Just last week I finally connected the last two troughs which will allow us to start our strict rotational, controlled grazing. It feels good to get something so fundamental as water distribution sorted, especially as we head into another dangerous fire season. Have a great weekend everyone! <3

17.01.2022 A lovely write-up about us in the local rag today https://www.midlandexpress.com.au/farm-plans-fast-tracked/

13.01.2022 Another car load of 3 Bears Farm premium grass-fed beef hampers ready to be delivered to excited customers! Massive thanks to Dylan from Lancefield Meats (pictured here with Madeleine) for working with us once again, such a talented butcher and good bloke. Big to everyone for supporting us again. We’ll have another round of beef hampers in 4-6 weeks, so watch this space and sign up if you haven’t already to ensure you don’t miss out. ... Bbh x

11.01.2022 Hey everyone! We thought it would be nice to share some video of our second year of reveg work along our ephemeral creek at the back of our property. We’re doing this in conjunction with the North Central Catchment Management Authority partly because this creek flows directly into the Upper Coliban reservoir and because improving habitat and native reveg is one of our major passions.... This year had around 2000 native trees, shrubs and grasses planted in an area just over 3 hectares in size. Previous to the planting keyline ploughing and cultivation was conducted to increase and aid in the fertility of our soils. Can’t wait to see how this amazing space on our property heals and develops over the next decade. Now to convince our neighbour to tackle their gorse problem. ;)

08.01.2022 Our Brave Hens have been moved to our future market garden site to complete the next stage of our no dig beds. Our cattle have been eating hay in this space all winter which has significantly disturbed the ground, grinding the grass into the soil while they've been crapping everywhere. The excess hay has resulted in chicken paradise. They are now feasting on the bugs under the hay and adding their own special blend of natural fertliser while scraping through pasture. ... We are left with a space supercharged naturally for veggies, happy chooks and delicious, healthy eggs! What a great way to farm! We're looking forward to showing you the next steps in coming weeks! Big <3

08.01.2022 Check out the marbling on these scotch fillet steaks from our current round of premium grass fed beef hampers..... yum!! Thank you so much to everyone who has already purchased their hampers. The demand was so high we ended up having to put two steers in after selling out of the first one in under 24 hours. We have around three hampers left from the second steer. This will definitely be our last beef hampers on sale this year.... If you want to secure one of these last hampers we recommend you head over to our website now and order. https://3bearsfarm.com.au/grass-fed-beef/ Thanks again everyone! The community support has been overwhelming.

07.01.2022 The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the next best time is now. Here we have a box of native tree tube stock ready for planting on 3 Bears Farm in the next couple of weeks. We have a great mix of eucalyptus, wattles, prickly shrubs and grasses providing perfect habitat for our native wildlife. Much thanks to our local Landcare legend who collected the seed along the Coliban River.

06.01.2022 Got a visit from Gol-Dan Delicious today! Dan was kind enough to feed us a phenomenal dinner of beef lasagne and scotch eggs! All made with 3 Bears Farm premium grass-fed beef and Brave Hen eggs (salad from our garden too). Seriously amazing food! Dan is preparing family friendly meals for our local community which you should totally check out. Perfect for lockdown dinner fatigue.

06.01.2022 Happy father's day to all the Dad's out there! I never thought I would end up being a Dad, even though the jokes suggested otherwise but I'm glad I am. Leela is by far the best thing I have ever co created, even better than the clay pinch pot I did in year 8 art class with Mr Lancaster. Jokes aside it's been a @#$% crazy 12 months and there isn't a day I don't appreciate the boundless support of my partner, family, friends and community. You all rock my world in a good way.... I have the most incredible love for my beautiful daughter, it's a glorious hit of oxycontin every time we smile at each other or cuddle. So while today is supposed to be about us, the Dads, it's really about our beautiful kids who keep us sane in an insane world by filling our days with smiles, cuddles, giggles and natural chemical highs. ;) Enjoy the day everyone. Big <3 to you all. t. x

05.01.2022 Here’s a minute of soothing chicken sounds for your Tuesday courtesy of our spring loving Brave Hens. No wonder their taste delicious!

05.01.2022 Have you ever heard of a Yeomans plough? Here it is in action creating a key line cultivation pattern in our conservation zone. It is the first step in earth preparations for planting a couple of thousand trees to give them the best chance to thrive. The plough breaks through the clay pan and allows better water retention in the landscape. It also removes the pesky weeds/dominant grasses for a short time to give the new trees a head start with their root development.

04.01.2022 So nice and a completely new experience to randomly hear a couple of people complimenting our Brave Hen eggs and packaging while purchasing them at our local store last week. Once I'd been outed as the owner of the farm I had to ask for a photo and they were kind enough to oblige. :) Such a great feeling to be supplying our community with good food and so affirming to receive the positive feedback, thank you ladies. <3

03.01.2022 Another stunning spring day on 3BF. Cattle mowing our paddocks and likely me mowing our lawn.
