19.01.2022 Mud and Blood, our WWI Play about General Harold 'Pompey' Elliott, is all set for today at the Clocktower. We had a fabulous rehearsal last night. It is a privi...lege as a writer to work with and realise imaginings with such an awesome team of talented and terrific people. Today we bring Mud and Blood back to its homeground of Moonee Ponds, where the homefront is set and to those scenes of Pompey Elliott leading his Essendon Rifles into World War I with his promise at Essendon Town Hall to look after 'his boys' as if they were his own. Today we honour that heartfelt promise, the families who heard it, the men and women who lived it and you'll hear it, too, right in the very place it was first made. My immense gratitude to the Mud and Blood team for their generosity, grace, hard work, skills, fun and belief in creating together a powerful work, of which we are all so proud.
