Physiotherapy is an essential service and therefore 3D Physiotherapy and Pilates will remain open during this period with modifications to our practice: ~ We will continue to see clients 1:1 in rooms, and also available for Telehealth consults if you would prefer. ... ~ All group classes will cease after Wednesday evening. We will be moving to online classes - stay tuned! ~ We will continue to conduct temperature checks, use of hand sanitiser, and wearing of face masks. 04.01.2022 PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the pelvic organs (bladder, bowel or uterus) drop down into the vaginal space. The biggest risk factor for prolapse is pregnancy and childbirth, however other risks include chronic coughing, being overweight or obese and repeated heavy lifting. Approximately 50% of women who have a baby will have some degree of prolapse. Whilst this is such a common condition, it is rarely spoken abo...ut! Signs of a prolapse may be a lump or bulge in the vagina, heaviness or dragging through the pelvic floor and difficulty emptying your bladder or bowel. Symptoms of prolapse may become more severe after menopause due to the changes in hormones in the body and locally in the vagina. The good news is, there is strong evidence that physiotherapy can help to reduce the signs and symptoms of prolapse, improve quality of life and prevent surgery.
