24.01.2022 Kaylun Dixon started out as an Australian Air Force Cadet in 3WG and then decided to pursue it as a career. She has been employed with the RAAF for about a year. Kaylun said she signed up to protect Australia and while she hopes she never has to serve overseas it is something which she is trained for. ... If that means I have to go overseas that’s what I’ll do, she said. As part of her employment she is required to source aircraft parts from different areas. Credit - Camden Courier

23.01.2022 FLGOFF(AAFC) Adrian Gibney 2001 Enrolled as a cadet at 305 SQN and rose to the rank of CWOFF. Currently 2014 CO 305 SQN Inducted as the first Honorary Life Member for his dedicated service to 305 SQN. He joined as adult staff as an LAC(AAFC) and has held positions including SQN XI and XO. He is the longest serving member of 305 SQN.

22.01.2022 While in 3WG Australian Air Force cadets, former 317 SQN Taree cadet Renee Wootton visited different air force bases and developed a passion for aircraft. She was awarded a Duke of Edinburgh (Bronze) and a Gliding Scholarship in 2009. Joining the air force cadets was a major turning point for Renee who discovered a passion for pulling apart planes and went onto study aerospace engineering.... The 23-year-old now works at Qantas in Mascot and travels to schools across NSW to encourage students particularly women to study STEM subjects and consider a future in engineering. Renee, a graduate engineer, completed her degree at UNSW.



21.01.2022 Former 303SQN CUO, Andrew N. Graduated from RAAF 1RTU. Andrew said recruit training was challenging and an incredible experience. The training and skills gained in his 6 years with the AAFC greatly assisted him in completing the 12 week course. In 2017, he will be continuing his training with a Fire-fighting course at RAAF Amberley.

20.01.2022 WGCDR Miller is currently working in Canberra with the RAAF Joint Strike Fighter Program. Originally CO of 323SQN in 1999, he went onto oversee the transition of 23 Flight from "the morgue" in Dunheved to Defence Establishment Orchard Hills to Glenbrook.

19.01.2022 In 1962 Hugh Gregory was commissioned as a Pilot Officer in the Citizen Air Force (CAF) as a General Duties Officer in the rank of Pilot Officer and posted to 18 Flight as the Training Officer. Hugh was posted to 26 Flight Lismore where he continued his service until 1975 when the cadets were disbanded by the Government. Hugh subsequently discharged from the CAF and his uniformed support of the Air Training Corps ceased. As a member of the Returned Soldiers League he was nonetheless able to continue his support of cadets. That support extended throughout his remaining years until in 2015 he finally retired from his Board positions within the Queensland RSL where he was honoured with Life Membership. To date he maintains a keen interest in the Air Force Cadets.

Exercise KAKADU aims to develop interoperability between participating nations in the maritime and air domains, and providing training opportunities for maritime security and surveillance. It involved 19 ships and submarines, 18 aircraft and more than 3000 personnel from 19 Asia Pacific and Indian Ocean navies and air forces.

12.01.2022 Laurinda Soemijadi Currently WGCDR(AAFC) with HQAAFC as the Director of Diversity and Inclusion. Former CO of 305 (City of Pittwater) Squadron where she also held a number of other positions. Staff with AAFC since 2005.... WGCDR(AAFC) Soemijadi will provide leadership, support and guidance to the AAFC in all areas of diversity and inclusion, including Indigenous, gender, cultural and LGBTI through policy, procedures and implementation of key programs that enhance the Cadet experience.

04.01.2022 Ron S. Rhode Air Training Corps Cadet with the first recruitment intake. Born 1925 - 1941 enrolled as a cadet at 9 FLT Canterbury High. 1943 joined the RAAF and flew as a wireless operator in Halifax’s in the UK.... FLTLT at 22 Flight Marsden High. HQ Hickson Road, Staff Officer Training I joined the Cadet Force at School, the Army first, then they had Air Training Corps at School. I didn’t like crawling around with snakes and trap door spiders. I wanted to fly a spitfire more than anybody else in the world.

04.01.2022 Group Captain Milton Cottee AFC (retired) From Murwillumbah, NSW In 1941, at the age of 15, he joined the Air Training Corps. One of the very few who have served in WWII, Korea, Malaya and Vietnam.... "Whilst a cadet with the Air Training Corps, I made two significant visits to RAAF bases," Milton said. "The first was to Richmond NSW from where I made my first flight. I recall that it was in an Avro Anson. I was intrigued and excited by the whole thing and this first flight did much to firm my resolution to join the RAAF as soon as I could. Former Korean War fighter pilot and Air Force test pilot Group Captain Milt Cottee (ret) recently enjoyed a more leisurely pace aboard the Air Force balloon, in a flight across Canberra. Apart from extensive experience as a pilot on Sabre and Vampire GPCAPT Cottee also served as Air Attache in Washington and was the Project Manager responsible for introducing the F-111 into Air Force service. He served with 77 SQN and his tour of duty came to an end when he completed 50 missions with a flight time of 150 hours.

02.01.2022 Alex Fisher LAC(AAFC) transferred to 3WG in Oct 2016. Currently assisting 3WG PACO and has been appointed to 3WG Aviation. Currently works for Sydney Seaplanes at Rose Bay. Former CUO at 217 SQN at Capalaba, Qld.... Powered: RA Pilot Certificate, Private Pilots Licence, Multi Command instrument and Multi engine Class Rating, Commercial Pilots Licence. Gliding ‘A’ and ‘B’ Certificate In 2014, Alex became one of the youngest people to fly solo around the Australian mainland. Titled the ‘Flight of Solidarity’ project, it was a means of raising awareness of the need to improve healthcare services for regional Australians by raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. His local community of Redlands, QLD awarded him an 'Inspiring leaders’ award.

01.01.2022 332 SQN instructor CPL(AAFC) Matthew 'Billy' Parker graduated from his ADF Medics course at Army Base Bonagilla recently. The course, one of the longest courses in the ADF and included two months field experience at RAAF Base East Sale and Townsville. He is pictured here with family and 332 SQN CO at the presentation.
