21.01.2022 Heads up. Please follow this important change to park access.

20.01.2022 Heading off to Kellevie today again but thought I would share the trail work from Saturday before I head out. This trail is an extension to the Rainforest trail and was put in last year by the team at Friends School. We did some grooming to get this great new addition race ready. It got me thinking about how much of a community project these trails have become. With $0 support from government everything you ride when you are there is built with donated time and love. To be h...onest it hasn't always been easy building and privately funding the trail work over the last 14 years. The thing that has kept us not only going but also passionate is the amount support from our trail and event teams, the unwavering support and passion for community from Dave and the Mtn Trails team and the bright future we see from the next generation of trail builders and riders. We hope you to see you at the 6hour and or the Shredding Betties ride day in March.

16.01.2022 Hi there, a few lumberjack FAQS. Q. Are you accepting entries from interstate? A. Not currently, we feel that there is simply too much border closure uncertainty and will reevaluate and make a decision in January. We would love to welcome back the people that come to Tassie for our events and meet new visitors, but at this stage it's locals only until we can be sure it's viable for our interstate guests and for us.... Q. Can I use different bikes for different stages? A. Yep, you can have a maximum of 2 bikes, but you have to be responsible for changing your plates, we supply reusable cable ties so it's no drama to swap 'em over. Q. I'm new to riding/racing is it doable? A. Totally you need to have some bike time under your belt, but we have reduced the liason/cruise stages so it's pretty accessible to someone who rides a few times a week. The more significant technical features all have a B line so you don't have to hit up the more gnarly stuff. Q. Do I have to pay a MTBA day licence? A.Nope we purchase a mass participation licence and cover that cost for you. There are no additional costs when you enter. Q.Are entries capped ? A.Yes after discussions with our Course Director and looking at current social distancing legislation we have a plan to manage starts and other onsite infrastructure and services. These procedures mean that we have capped entries at 200. Q. If there is an issue with COVID-19 causing the event to be cancelled what happens to my entry? A. We quarantine your entry fee until we are sure the event can go ahead. If the event is cancelled due to changes caused by COVID-19 we provide a full refund or race credit if you choose. Side note on COVID-19 related matters - We are aware that everyone is being impacted differently by the current situation and if anyone is struggling financially please get in touch if you would still like to enter, we can organise a tailored payment plan. We don't want anyone to miss out because things are harder right now. If this is helpful to you please contact us sooner rather than later so we can hold a place for you. Q. Is there an E bike category? A. Not this year as we we have imitations on numbers due social distancing requirement we won't be adding an u new categories For more info go to www.lumberjackmtb.com Don't miss out on this outstanding weekend of good times! We look forward to welcoming you to K -town

15.01.2022 Mates4Mates community partner 6 hour news! With 190 riders entered for the Kellevie MTB Park 6 Hour that makes for a great day at Kellevie Mountain Bike Park! We did, however, promise our community partners Mates4Mates $500 if we got to 200 riders. We didn't quite get there, but we thought to hell with conventions, contracts and all that boring nonsense have decided to donate the $500 anyway. I dropped in and met Josh and the team a few weeks ago and they do such great work ...it seems like the right thing to do. We also have 10 spare race plates printed up so we have decided to reopen entries to raise some more funds, if we sell the last 10 plates by Monday night we will double the donation to $1,000 So if you missed out and want to help a brother out you have till Monday night 10:30pm to get signed up so you can get yo' ass to Kellevie. Also for those already signed up it would be great if you can jump on the Everyday Hero page and get signed up. http://everydayhero.com.au/event/KMTB6 More community partner news coming up, stay tuned! www.k6hour.com to sneak your late entry in and support Mates4Mates so they can support our returned service men and women Cheers Duncan, Sarah and the team.

15.01.2022 Womens ride day the weekend of the 6 hour! Non Menfolk, the weekend of the Kellevie MTB Park 6 Hour is looking like great weekend already but to make more of a weekend of it we had a chat to Shredding Betties about doing something fun (it is bike week after all). We thought that while we had camping open, trails primed for the race why not work with our favorite womens riding and advocacy group to have some fun. So they are putting together a ride day.on Saturday before race ...day. The ride is aimed at beginners and intermediate riders. (Menfolk, families and riders participating in the 6 hour or the Shredding Betties ride day are also welcome to come down and camp and stay for the weekend). Check out the full details here https://www.facebook.com/events/256121122040910/ Also for women of all skill levels checkout their other events, sign up to their facebook page and look into club membership. Come down enjoy the race or the ride day and the camping at Kelievie MTB Park :) wwwk6hour.com for race details

14.01.2022 Covid-19 release from the event crew. Currently, there are more important things than mountain bike races and music festivals, and the world seems a bit crazy and uncertain right now. Given the unprecedented circumstances going on we thought we would touch base. Primarily we are thinking of all of the people who are doing it tough. As an event company our thoughts are also with others who have had to make the tough decision to shut down their businesses for the indefinite fu...Continue reading

12.01.2022 As promised some deets on our new community support partner Mates4Mates for the Kellevie MTB Park 6 hour! Mates4Mates is a not-for-profit organisation providing life-changing support and rehabilitation services for current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members who have physical or psychological injuries, and their families. Thy have Family Recovery Centres in Brisbane, Townsville and Hobart, and outreach services in regional areas across Australia, Mates4Mates visio...n is to support our Mates and their families as they transition to civilian life. By providing enduring physical and psychological support and foster mateship and connection amongst the Defence community. Once a Mate, always a Mate. On a personal note, having friends and family impacted by their service time and seeing the importance of community connection as part of their healing, I would encourage anyone who is coming to the 6 hour to sign up and raise what you can. Our respect for this organisation and how they help people deal with the impact of trauma, be it physical or psychological,is why we want to try and help out. Even if you are completely Tasmanian and leaving your entry till the last minute (I often enter late, I get it ), we don't mind if you kick off your fundraising page while you sort out your team members. To help out head to http://everydayhero.com.au/event/KMTB6 We have attached their impact and mission statements so you can scope out all the fantastic work they do. You can also catch up with some of the Mates4Mates team who be down at the 6hour cutting laps and having chats. We will be working with our sponsors to put up some prizes to reward those who take part in the fundraising effort, with a random draw for any one who participates in the fundraiser, and a major prize for the best fundraising effort so stay tuned.

11.01.2022 Race/training nutrition that involves cake.... Yep down with that. Recipe from Karen Hill who once tamed the Hellfire Cup with Jenni King and if my sources are right Karen is back in Tas about to undertake a massive trail run.

11.01.2022 Get those entries in! Orders go off to suppliers tomorrow morning, which means tonight is your last chance to hit up the 6 hour! Entries close tonight! at Midnight, Monday the 17th. (And yes we know that sample number should have been 666 to really enhance the dad joke, but that number always goes to our lifer single speeder.)

09.01.2022 We asked Edwina Hughes and Alex Hunt about their day out and win at the Kellevie MTB Park 6 hour and here is what Alex Hunt had to say. I always love the atmosphere at Kellevie, such an enjoyable event to be a part of. I think I’ve raced a Kellevie enduro in its various guises nearly every year since I started racing, well over ten years ago. I’ve had some great moments, and some pretty painful ones over the years, but to stop coming back would feel all sorts of wrong! It’s ...always been such a great track to ride, somehow managing to cater to so many people, from first timers and kids to people that want a hard day of racing! The race itself manages to get the perfect balance of offering a relaxed and welcoming attitude to anyone giving it a go, yet still actually being a race, which brings a sense of purpose missing from pretty much any mass participation ride/fondos etc. It was so good to see so many kids out on course having a rad time, teams racing is the perfect environment to grow up with and events like this really do keep people in the sport, and more broadly, and perhaps importantly, outside, riding bikes, having fun with mates, which is pretty much what it’s all about isn’t it? 09.01.2022 Just wanted to do big shout out to Beardy McBeard. All the stella images on our banner from last years Hellfire are from Beardy. We will definitely invite him back for 2020.

05.01.2022 One of the tough things for us about what's happening with the events scene is seeing all the musos, foodies, and contractors we work with are doing it incredibly tough at the moment, like many others. So we want to share what they are up to in this current climate where they can't operate as normal. Pete has played at our events regularly and provided much comfort to the crew at the last Hellfire during some wild weather (I know wild weather at Hellfire, crazy right ?) Help... these cats weather this storm if you can. Hit up Petes Page in the link below so you can watch Pete and Simons live stream gig on the 4th of April. Pete is one of Australias finest blues men so well worth checking out. Cheers Duncan, Sarah and the Storm Bay Promotions Team

03.01.2022 The 6 hour is an inclusive event where we want everyone, fast to last to have a blast, but we do think the solo winners deserve special mention. So we asked Edwina Hughes and Alex Hunt about their day out and win at the Kellevie MTB Park 6 hour and here is what Edwina Hughes had to say. Racing the six hour at Kellevie is one of the highlights on my racing calendar. It’s undoubtedly one of the best venues for racing in Australia, and has the most supportive group of racers ...and spectators that I’ve ever come across. It was so cool to see so many riders of all abilities out there having a go. I had a good day on the bike; I found the course to be challenging but fun, and really enjoyed the new loop. My race nearly come unstuck when three spokes in my rear wheel randomly busted not quite half way though the race. I spent the remainder of the race stressing that my carbon rim would collapse at any given moment, but thankfully I just got through. My highlights of the day included being handed a fresh taco as I crossed the finish line (thanks taco taco), the awesome Mtn Trails track work, the camaraderie between riders, the cold moo brew, and special mention to Duncan and Sarah and the other volunteers for making this event happen. Oh yeah, winning a massive packet of dunny roll was pretty cool, too - does that make it the richest race in Australia ? Photo by KO Photography: by Kai & Olivia

03.01.2022 Planning has been under way for this for a long time... So looking forward to that moment when everything comes alive and people start rolling in. Scintilla is coming...... And we can't wait.

03.01.2022 New website and new entry portal are now open, we have some fantastic options now available for travellers to make things even easier and some luxury options for those who want to get fancy for Hellfire 2020. You may as well get fancy, its going to be a belter! Hellfire March 7-9 2020. Kellevie Mountain Bke Park www.hellfirecup.com

02.01.2022 Some big news from the team. Sadly we are winding up the Hellfire Cup. Please go here for the full explanation. https://www.hellfirecup.com/press-release-hellfire-cup-clos

02.01.2022 New trails going in courtesy of the Peoples Republic, and Mtn.Trails a new climb for our fresh Kellevie MTB Park 6 Hour course. A mix of some old favorites, new trails in a new configuration See you there :)

01.01.2022 Sadly due to the Work Safe Tas COVID-19 restrictions banning camping at events we have decided to move the Lumberjack to March 5-6 2022. The nature of the event relies on onsite camping to be viable. These new event guidelines were only released last week and previous information did not indicate that camping for the small numbers we have would be an issue. It's a curve ball, it's been a year of curve balls, we will still roll out a one day event in 2021, a 6 hour and some ri...de days over summer. We are bummed, but in the scheme of things we can adapt and will make sure the 6 hour is a hoot and will use this opportunity to make the Lumberjack even better. A full statement will be going up on our event pages this weekend and an email will be going to all competitors who have already signed up. Competitors will have lots of options from transfers to next years event, race credit and full refunds. Much Love Duncan, Sarah and the team See more

01.01.2022 Who wants a good news story? Well here is one. This year the 2nd place Male Elite pair riding for Team C-bear Alex Malone and Anthony Shippard Decided to donate their prize money, with a donation to the trail fund and to Food Bank Tasmania. Nice one. ... Sarah and I are both involved with NGO's that work with people who are homeless and use food bank to get by, so we know it will make a difference. We are also one of the few events that currently privately fund all the trail development in our area used by the event. So without the volunteers from the Peoples Republic of Trail Building and the time Mtn Trails give up we would have no trails in the area, and the trail fund donation will go straight into feeding volunteers and buying tools, which will mean more single track. The guys are currently racing in NZ and we hope their good Karma brings them good Karma.

01.01.2022 You can't beat experience if you want to get delirious when it comes to beats! (Yes, I actually not only thought of that I went ahead and posted it). Damien Goundrie is a pioneer of the early club scene in Tas and single highhandedly responsible for a cultural shift that led to the cancelling of 190 foot Daryl Braithwaite being built in Hobart*. Now residing Back in Tas after a period of exile packing clubs in some backwater called Sydney (Dunno never heard of it either). D...amien will be helping you through the last hour. Daimien will also be hitting up some trails with his mates from Syd. If we had a category for riding DJ's he would be a cert. PS Just jokes about Sydney, I was there last week and they have nice cheese (from Tas) and a big bridge and bats and stuff it's actually pretty cool. PPS Damien will punch me when he sees this :) *The Daryl Braithwaite bit is just nonsense, the proposed statue was only 45 feet. Anyway we look forward to Damien hitting decks at the Kellevie MTB Park 6 Hour!

01.01.2022 A quick response to announcement about Hellfire cancelling. Thanks to everyone for their kind support and words of encouragement. We have had some communication with the crew from Geocentric and they stated that their early planning meant they thought we would continue to operate in November. They have acknowledged the lack of communication when they became aware of our March dates. ... Despite the disappointment with this, we think it’s time to move on and we wish them best with the Dragon Trail. So we want to make this really clear - If you were planning on doing the Dragon Trail we don’t want to discourage you from entering. If you think the event looks good then do it! We also want people that feel a loyalty to us to know that we just want you to be having a good time at events, and if volunteering or riding the Dragon Trail floats your boat that makes us happy. We know how hard people work on events and we can all learn from our experiences. From our discussion directly with Geocentric it is clear that their intent was not to cause us grief, but different views on how the clash might play out. For us we strongly feel that the clash provides too great a risk for the Hellfire format, however, moving forward, we have great event plans coming up and the change gives us time to develop these plans and more time to ride, so we are really ok with the decision now that we have come to terms with it. What this means for you and other riders is you have the Dragon Trail as an option and that we will be bringing forward some of our event dates. Stay tuned for what we have planned next! We certainly don’t want other event teams to be demonised - let’s just get on our bikes and ride - onwards and upwards for everybody :)

01.01.2022 We are stoked to see so many crew signing up for the Lumberjack :) For those wanting to save some coin a heads up that round one early bird entries finish at the end of July. Look forward to seeing you all there in March for some good vibes and good bike times. ... www.lumberjackmtb.com
