24.01.2022 This week at 423 we had a great turn out as well as some promotions to our new LCPL White and Phillips-Tuggwell and Dodd both to cadet. We also looked at some ceremonial lessons such as drill and the history of the Australian Army and ANZAC's. We finished the night off with some fun team building games.

21.01.2022 This week at 423 ACU, we hosted another PT night based primarily on team work. The night was then finished off with some lessons on RATEL to prepare the cadets for AFX.

20.01.2022 Was another great night at 423 ACU, the cadets had lessons on drill, history and team building followed by some kit checks for AFX!

18.01.2022 Brief Operational Pause Through significant discussion at the national level of Australian Army Cadets, as per ACKNOTE 08/20, it has been decided to suspend all... AAC activities as of 2359hrs 16 March 2020. Government and Defence have enacted a series of measures to reduce and slow the risk of COVID-19 spreading within the community. The AAC program is undertaken within the community and the Army and Community partnership is at it’s core. It has been assessed that, at this time, the greatest contribution the AAC can make to our Nation is to suspend all community-based and public cadet activities in order to assist in slowing the spread of COVID-19. This measure will assist in protecting both the wider community and those members of the AAC who are assessed as potentially vulnerable (ie. Over 30% of AAC members are in the vulnerable category due to age or specific, pre-existing medical condition). This suspension includes all parade nights, fundraising, recruitment & weekend activities. The caveat to this is aimed specifically at school-based units. This only applies to those units that conduct short-duration day activities within school grounds during the school week. If this applies to you, please seek confirmation from your individual school. For Army Cadet Staff, at this point, the Adult Leader Development Courses will continue however attendees will be required to make health declarations prior to attending. We can empathise that there will be many Cadets who will be upset at this news however it is being done in the name of individual and community safety. This suspension will remain in force until 1 May 2020 after which additional constraints may continue to be applied. Please spread this to anyone that you know of who is in the AAC to ensure adequate notification. For further clarification, please contact your Unit Commander. *Please note, we will not be answering any questions directed to this public Facebook page. Ensure that you follow your chain of command (Unit Officer Commanding) for further information.

18.01.2022 Today is a hard day for many. However, we as a unit have pushed through and have proven that we can still pay our respects to those who have suffered and fallen on the shores of the Gallipoli Peninsula. Continuing the Anzac Day tradition at the break of dawn since April 25th 1916 to remember them. We are very proud of the number of cadets who made a commitment to participate in the Driveway Vigil this morning. Lest we forget

17.01.2022 At 423 ACU we hosted a navigation night to prepare the cadets for AFX. There were lessons on map reading, determine shape of ground, direction of North points, navigation data sheets and how to apply all the techniques they learnt.

15.01.2022 Hi all, This week is an extremely exciting week for 423 ACU! We are conducting our first fitness based night! This requires all cadets to come to the unit in sneakers and their unit shirt if they have one (if they don't, that's ok, just a plain shirt with no offensive logos). They are also required to have packed their army cadet uniform (DPCU shirt, DPCU pants, socks, boots and their slouch hat) to change into. We also ask cadets to please bring roll-on deodorant (no spray as we have asthmatics in the unit). If there are any questions at all, please coment below or send a private message and we will get back to you ASAP! Thank you

15.01.2022 Also just another reminder that parents are welcome to come in tonight for a parent information night! This starts at 1800h and should finish NLT 1900h. We are looking forward to seeing you all there!

13.01.2022 Was a good turn out last night for our first night of term 4! 13.01.2022 Wednesday night was a very special night for 423 ACU as we had three new promotions. We're happy to congratulate Emily McCarthy as the RSM of 43 (schools) battalion, Jessica McCarthy as the new CUO of 423 and Jackson Galpin as the new 423 CSM. Well done and congratulations to everyone and their new roles and good luck to the new RSM for her new role out side of 423. The remainder of the night was filled with lessons on RATEL and how to perform a CASEVAC followed by a scenario which tested their new found skills.

13.01.2022 Hi all, Can all cadets please come in their ceremonial attire this week! Thank you.

13.01.2022 On Wednesday the cadets at 423 ACU had the chance to improve their BFA scores from term 1, it was extremely impressive to see how much everyone had improved. Well done everyone! The night was then finished off with unit drill competitions.

12.01.2022 Was a good turnout at 423 ACU for the last night of term 3. Yesterday was also the last chance for the cadets to get what they needed to prepare for AFX starting on Saturday! This was also the last time we all got to see one of our former CDT CPL Payton Ovenden who is now moving on to the next chapter in his life, all the best from all of us at 423.

11.01.2022 Tonight, 423 finally completed their first BFA as a unit! Needless to say, everyone did an amazing job! Great work on those who really tried their absolute best, that is definitely what this organisation is all about - challenging yourself. Along side of that, in preparation for the units open night next week, we practiced making some fake wounds! This helps the cadets imagination when providing first aid, to make the first aid scenario as realistic as possible. The Open Night starts at 1800h (6pm) and finishes at 2000h (8pm) on Wednesday night next week! Looking forward to seeing you all there!

11.01.2022 Today at 423 we hosted an open night with fun activities for all the cadets and visitors to enjoy. Tonight was all about cadets showcasing their knowledge in First Aid, Field Craft and Drill.

10.01.2022 Anzac Day Driveway Dawn Service 2020 Over many years Anzac Day has been supported and celebrated by our organisation through ceremonial parades country wide. Anzac Day is a meaningful way of showing thanks to the ANZAC's, as well as all men and women who have and continue to serve our country. Despite the ongoing challenges we face through the global crises of COVID19 we encourage all Cadets and Staff to participate in the Anzac Day Driveway Vigil that has been initiated by ...RSL Branches across Australia. We believe that it is important to encourage resilience to adapt and evolve through these uncertain times by taking part in a collective Dawn Service, standing in your driveway, on your patio or balcony at 0600hrs on Anzac Day. When: Anzac Day, 25th April 2020 Where: Your driveway, patio or balcony Time: 0600hrs 0610hrs local time Dress: 4Z Ceremonial Cams Notes: All communication products must refer to Anzac Day in upper and lower case. Unless you are referencing the Corps itself then use ANZAC Social Media: If you would like to take part in our social media posts in support of this initiative please send through a photo of yourself from your respective vigils to your local Army Cadet (226ACU email address) unit for clearance and posting on the cadet social media site. Please include your full name, rank and unit. Army has approved Hashtags to be used where appropriate: #LestWeForget #AnzacDay2020 #AnzacDay #WeWillRememberThem #WeRememberThem #AnzacAtHome Social Distancing: You are to ensure government policies around social distancing are adhered to. It is important to remember our role in setting the example for our communities, by wearing Army’s uniform you are a leader in your community. Leaders set the right example, all the time. Also i believe 891 ABC Radio (AM) will be broadcasting a dawn service over the radio. I ask that ALL parents take Individual photos of their Cadets saluting on dawn and get the Cadets to send the photo to myself so i can so a bulk upload post on the site. The cadets will recieve further instruction of this soon. Many Thanks James Kerin LT (AAC) OC - 423 ACU Victor Harbor

01.01.2022 The Push Up Challange is an excellent idea to help provide mental health awareness. Up to 45% of Australians experience a mental health issue at some point in their life! This is the organisations intent for this challange: "The Push-Up Challenge is on a mission to connect people, encourage healthy active lifestyles and improve our mental health. #pushforbetter and raise awareness for suicide prevention and better mental health in Australia."... It is free to register for such a great cause! Please consider participating and let the OC or CUO McCarthy know if you are

01.01.2022 Last night the cadets had the privelidge to cross train with the South Australian Ambulance Service! A massive thank you to Brad and Shana for demonstrating incredible abilities with our CASEVAC Scenario, as well as delivering a debrief to provide feedback to the cadets. I'm sure the cadets enjoyed it! Prior to this exercise the cadets had theory lessons on the Principles of First Aid, Bites and stings, and Fractures! Looking forward to seeing everyone next week!
