24.01.2022 One of Hot Cargo Engineering's recent jobs : PTO Clutch for Tractor Slasher - Machined drive plate clutch surfaces & machined down spigot area to suit new clutch discs also machined up new yoke retaining pin.

22.01.2022 This weeks job : Owner's unsuccessful attempt to remove head from Sidevalve V8. In the process destroyed head and snapped off numerous bolts in the block - owner drilled out snapped off head bolt then broke easy out in drilled head bolt and damaged deck of block. Hot Cargo Engineering proceeded to drill out all broken bolts, repair threads and salvage block from the scraper , I was also able to remove other head with no damage. Engine will now recieve a rebuild at a later stage. Call Hot Cargo Engineering for any of your vintage engine needs

22.01.2022 A couple of jobs this month : First one customer come in needing rattly top end in motor seen to on low milage reconditioned engine : End result found incorrect pushrods fitted, had chopped out on guide plates & rocker had spun off a valve. Rectified by installing correct hardened pushrods, new set of guide plates and replaced U/S rocker. Adjusted and running like a gem now - saved the engine from a fatal ending. Along with a little quickie job being : run new brake line on Hotrod diff.

17.01.2022 Recent job - 1928 Ford Tourer, Old hotrod from the 60's required mechanical once over to make it ready for road use : Work done - getting all brakes operational, shimming of brakes to rear axle, repair to cracked brake drum, modify brake pedal rod to master cylinder, removal and install of new timing cover crank seal,making new engine gaskets needed, flushing of block & radiator and retensioning of heads ( motor was re-built), mounted dizzy coil, modified rear cross member to clear shocks, new wheel nuts all round.

16.01.2022 Original Dodge 4" steel wheel alteration. Removed centre's from Dodge 4" steelie along with centre's from doner 6" steel wheels. Modified Dodge centre to fit 6" band and re-fitted to customers desired wheel offset. Contact Hot Cargo Engineering for all your wheel alterations / repairs

15.01.2022 Recently completed job : Mid 70's RX Mazda, fitment of original stub axels to aftermarket lowered and adjustable struts.

15.01.2022 Hot Cargo Engineering's latest job : Full refurbishment of Braking System in a 1960 Desoto. This consisted of rebonding of all brake shoes, replacement of all wheel cylinders, master cylinder, flexable brake hoses & drive keys in rear axle along with machining of brake drums. During the rebuild all wheel studs were replaced with right hand threaded studs eliminating those tricky Chrysler left handed studs that catch everyone out. Whilst completing these repairs I found the rubber boot on the ball and trunion type tail shaft was knackered, this was also replaced much to the customers delight

12.01.2022 Job on another Ford Sidevalve : Customer had brought running motor but heads had been removed. Customer wanted to fit some factory aluminium heads. Job involved : Clean up of engine block deck, and head surfaces, fitting of new head gaskets & tensioning heads down. Engine turned out to be a sweet runner

12.01.2022 Recent Job : Modification of Hilux Drum Brake Diff to suit mid 70's RX Mazda. Job entailed : *Modification from drum to disc brake * Use of brake rotor and caliper from different vehicle applications * Machining of disc rotor adapters to axle flanges * Remove and refit the original Mazda spring pad / shock mount to hilux diff * Narrowing of diff to stock Mazda width * Rebuild brake calipers * Fabrication of new brake lines to suit new set-up * Installation of all new axle bearings and seals.

10.01.2022 1932 Ford Roadster - some of the works on this car include : modification of front cross member & complete weld-out of entire chassis, machining & modification of 59' Buick brakes to suit the 15" wheel application.

09.01.2022 Recently completed job : 5th Wheeler hitch replacement / modification. Customer was unable to use trailer due to punching out rear window of duel cab ute. Replaced original straight 5th wheel hitch with off-set hitch to gain maximum clearance to cab. Fabricated & welded all gussetts, attached hitch in new location, attached new towing chains & fabricated new adjustable leg. The new hitch is also height adjustable. The finished product also made loading / unloading the trailer easier as new hitch could attach from any angle unlike original hitch which had to be in a direct straight line. #5thwheeler #horsefloat #ponyclub #trailer

08.01.2022 Recent Job : Rare 1970's vintage Go Kart, Customer required Magnesium wheel repair along with fabrication of disc brake, both parts now being obsolete.

07.01.2022 Hot Cargo Engineering's own personal build - 1928 Model A Ford. Complete build of Hotrod utilising mainly pre 1952 parts. Some of the work carried out by Hot Cargo includes : Suspension and differential all modified / adapted & rebuilt, all the machining needed for all the adapted and modified components, steel out of body / repairs & mounting to chassis, full wiring of the car plus plumbing of brake and fuel lines, pickup bed floor fitted with Cypress Pine. 01.01.2022 Hot Cargo Engineering can also help with all your machinery rebuilds. Our own personal Cardiff Major Lathe recieved a full rebuild : New bearings through-out gearbox, modified headstock to take back to back taper bearings to improve machine accuracy and rigidity, adapted new 3 jaw chuck, new 3 phase motor, new forward reverse switching.
