21.01.2022 TEMPORARY STAND DOWN In line with the press release just issued from the South Australian Government regarding the recent Coronavirus Cluster Outbreak in Parafi...eld, all Army Cadet Activities including parades, weekend activities and ACS meetings will cease for at least the next 2 weeks with effect from tonight. Whilst we understand this will cause disruption to planned activities, we have been through this situation before. The SA AAC Brigade has previously displayed it’s excellence in creating a way to keep members engaged in the program from home. Although we hope this will be short, we must all display personal courage to stick together as a team as our community faces a time of uncertainty. We must maintain our integrity both on a personal level but also in our capacity as a citizen of South Australia through diligent efforts in social distancing, personal hygiene and understanding the impact of our actions. Our earnest service to the community in this instance will ensure the limiting of spread of COVID-19. The respect of our members to each other, whether it be from the highest of Officers down to the newest of Recruits, is testament of the professional conduct that is so often attributed to the SA AAC Brigade. We have led the nation this year in the way that we have conducted our activities in such a challenging environment. Although new challenges have arisen, we will all continue to work together to get past this challenge. We have succeeded in this before and we will do it again!

20.01.2022 During these uncertain times, we can still commemorate the Spirit of ANZAC Day.

14.01.2022 The SA AAC Brigade has put together a simple video for all to use tomorrow commemorating Anzac Day. This video will run through The Ode (recited by RCUO B. Kim...ber), The Last Post and includes one minute of silence. After this, the video will play the reveille (For an Anzac Day Dawn Service, ‘Reveille’ is played - https://www.defence.gov.au/Ceremoni/AnzacDayHandyHints.asp). This video has been created so that when everyone stands in their driveway tomorrow morning to commemorate Anzac Day, they do not need to be distracted by technology. This allows for personal reflection and providing the respect that such an occasion deserves. During the sounding of The ‘Last Post’ and playing of the Australian National Anthem, all members wearing military uniform and headdress are to stand at the attention position and salute. 01.01.2022 The Hon Darren Chester MP Minister for Veterans' Affairs Minister for Defence Personnel Back to media releases... Friday, 24 April 2020 Kapyong Day commemorates a significant battle of the Korean War ON 24 April each year we mark Kapyong Day and remember the service and sacrifice of the United Nations (UN) forces, including Australian troops, in defending Seoul in South Korea from communist forces. Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Darren Chester said during the Korean War UN forces prevented a Chinese advance on a critical part of the battlefront near the village of Kapyong 60 kilometres north-east of Seoul. On 23 April 1951, UN forces occupied both sides of the Kapyong River valley, but the Chinese advance looked to overwhelm the UN position with the Australian contingent forced into a fighting withdrawal to a new position in the rear of the valley, Mr Chester said. Following a night of relentless fighting on 23 April and into the early hours of the next day, the Australian and Canadian forces, supported by the New Zealand artillery regiment and an American tank company, halted the Chinese advance on 24 April. Despite their continued efforts, the Chinese found the UN forces position impenetrable and made no further attacks before eventually withdrawing. The defence in the Kapyong River valley is known as one of the most significant and important battles for Australian troops in Korea and for their involvement in the battle the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3 RAR) received the United States Distinguished Unit Citation. All Australians should recognise and honour the service and sacrifice of all Australians involved in the Korean War and the Battle of Kapyong. The battle was costly for Australians, with 32 killed, 59 wounded and three taken prisoner. The impact on the Chinese forces was far heavier, with more than 500 killed. It was a significant and successful defensive battle by UN forces in the Korean War. The Korean War, 1950-53, was the first major conflict of the Cold War and the first to involve troops, including Australians, fighting under the auspices of the UN. It began with a North Korean invasion of South Korea and ended with an armistice that left the Korean peninsula divided. The state of war between the two exists to the present day.
