25.01.2022 Children’s Hospital Perth Perth Children’s Hospital is the new home for staff and services from Princess Margaret Hospital in Subiaco, providing specialist paediatric care for the children and adolescents of Western Australia. RMD Australia’s Perth Branch was involved in a number of different aspects of the Perth Children’s Hospital construction. RMD supplied the new Ascent-Formwork guided climbing system to John Holland, who used the system in crane assisted mode to form two... stair cores and two lift cores. The largest core formed using the Ascent system measured some 21 x 8.0m in plan and was climbed vertically through 59m with each ‘floor to floor’ pour requiring approximately 107m3 of concrete. The Ascent-Formwork system was chosen for its Safety features and benefits such as the ability to climb the Ascent system through multiple lifts, whilst remaining securely attached to the permanent structure and access for all trades inclusive of stretcher rescue capability, were key strengths of the Ascent-Formwork system . http://www.rmdkwikform.com//proj/perth-childrens-hospital/

24.01.2022 RMD Darwin supplied Slimshor propping for Darwin’s Gateway Shopping Centre project RMD Darwin supplied Slimshor propping to All Cast NT for Darwin’s Gateway Shopping Centre project. Slimshor was used to support precast panels at a height of 9.5m. The main construction constraint or problem encountered by the client was a large void directly in front of the precast panel landing area resulting in a required raker length in excess of 15m. This fact ensured that regular precast propping systems wouldn’t meet the brief, but with the help of the RMD design team and RMD’s ever versatile Slimshor product, support of these panels was achieved with ease. http://rmdaustralia.com.au/products/slimshor-2/

22.01.2022 Monford Group a WA company working on their first project on the east coast in Newcastle, which is a Pedestrian Overbridge. RMD Newcastle looked after the Pier Columns as well at the smaller stair columns as pictured, which utilized RMD’s Column Yokes and Alform Beam. You will also notice some clever cantilevered soffit systems to catch the corbels on the top of the pier column.

20.01.2022 The client is Bill Wieland Concreting, working on the Bundaberg Multi-Sports Complex in Bundaberg. He has been using RMD Australia for a while, but this was his first time using the Minima panel system. There were two blade walls with voids in them, which was a challenge with regards to design and implementation. The client needed a space to put the pump hose into, to ensure the concrete was evenly dispersed under the voids. The second wall went up quicker than the first, be...cause they hadn’t used minima before and it was a large wall so there was a bit of a learning curve on the first. Rapidshor shoring was used for the overhang on one end and they used Alform Beams and Super Slim Soldiers conventional formwork for the columns. They were pleased with the outcome of the blade walls and the two different sized columns and they are happy to use RMD’s products again.

18.01.2022 Wheatstone LNG Project The Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project is one of Australia’s largest resource projects, it’s located at Ashburton North, 12km west from Onslow in Western Australia. The initial phase of the project consists of two liquefied natural gas (LNG) trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes per annum as well as a domestic gas plant.... RMD Australia is supplying formwork and shoring systems to Laing O’Rourke whose scope of work consists of engineering, design, procurement and construction for foundations and structures to support the project’s two LNG trains and the utilities plant for the domestic gas plant.

16.01.2022 UTAS NRAS high-rise project in Hobart - Stage 1 involves the supply of approximately 3,500m of RMD’s Airodek, which will be cycled. Also the Alshor Plus shoring system will provide support to the band beams and edge supports. Alshor Plus Legs have been used as back props to release other equipment for use elsewhere whilst the slab concrete cures. Alshor Plus with Deck Beams and panels cantilevered over the edge removes the need for support from the ground and allows for safe access to the slab edge. http://rmdaustralia.com.au/projects/

16.01.2022 Roy Hill Project RMD Perth won the supply of the Roy Hill Rom (Run of Mine) Wall section of the project with Whittens Group. RMD delivered a simple, quick formwork solution with a high quality finish, by using Super Slim Soldiers and Alform Beam wales which enabled large formwork shutters to be constructed. The ROM walls are each over 90m long and 15.8m high at the highest point. Due to the height of the walls they had to be constructed in two lifts, the conventional forms were jumped using anchor screws. Also RMD was involved in the Car Dumper on Package 3, Port Landside, where the RMD Alshor Plus shoring system was used for supporting the slabs formed with Ply, Albeam and Alform Beam tables lifted into position. The Alshor Plus shoring system is an innovative system, with integrated safety and productivity features.

14.01.2022 PWCS - Gantry Support Carrington, Newcastle The project is called PWCS - Gantry Support Carrington, and RIG Installations are our customer. The towers are to support a 40 year old coal conveyor gantry that is still in use but requires some major remedial work to keep it in service. The photos only show the first tower. There are another two towers of lower height to support the gantry as it slopes down towards the ground and feed conveyor. This job was discussed, reviewed, designed and supplied within one week thanks to the efforts of the Sydney design team, Head Office design, plus the crew in Newcastle.

08.01.2022 Reflex used to Constructs Two Sewer Pump Tanks The Zuccoli Sewer Pump Station Dry/Wet Well was constructed by MK Construction Services to deal with the wastewater that will be generated in the new Zuccoli suburb in Darwin. This circular Dry/Wet Well has an internal radius of 4.5m and a wall thickness of 0.3m. It is 8.7m high and was constructed in 4 pours utilizing 2.4m panels from the Reflex curved wall formwork system in jumpform mode. http://www.rmdkwikform.com//reflex-constructs-two-sewer-p/

07.01.2022 With regard to this project, Lend Lease were having issues with their piling in one area of the river bed, they were having major issues with lack of rock and the sheet piling was "sinking". They used the RMD heavy-duty Megashor and Super Slim Soldiers to create a spud box frame to support the pile sheeting and while in position, they poured concrete until the sheeting could support itself.

06.01.2022 Clemton Park Village The client was very happy with RMD Australia because of the speed and simplicity of the Airodek system. The builder Parkview was pleased with the Airodek system from a safety point of view, because Airodek Panels have the composite sheets integrated into the aluminium frame, therefore the site was clean and free of the typical timber offcuts laying around on the site.

06.01.2022 An Adelaide house owner required a class 2 finish for all of the walls in the house and basement because he plans to leave all of the walls exposed. To help create the best possible finish Faraone Constructions decided to use 17mm F14 Plywood, Superslim Soldiers for their extra support and 95 x 65 timber wales. The walls ranged in height from 2.7m to 3.0m. The entire job was formed and poured in one go. Both the client and the owner were very pleased with the RMD Adelaide system supplied. http://rmdaustralia.com.au/projects/

03.01.2022 Sales Conference RMD Australia recently held a highly successful Sales Conference in Glenelg S.A., with some of our friends from New Zealand also taking part. Presentations and workshops provided our Sales Team with a diverse range of supportive information. On one night they particularly enjoyed playing a pool tournament, where they were only distracted when the pizza finally arrived. On the final night the Sales Team were joined by RMD’s Head Office staff to participate or mostly witness teams of Sales staff trying to outdo each other in a cooking competition, which everybody enjoyed immensely. After a team had been adjudicated as the winner much to the other teams chagrin, awards for Region, Branch and Sales person of the year were announced.

02.01.2022 The Minima panel system with composite form face and Slimshor shoring equipment for strong support were supplied to McMahon Services for an underground carpark at Brougham Place, Adelaide. Minima formwork was 3.4m in height and its perimeter length was 89.5m. No issues were encountered on the pour and the client supplied the accessories, such as walkway/handrails, these are a great addition and alleviate the need for access scaffold to the perimeter.
