20.01.2022 Navigation Navigation is a complex subject which we deliver within the Unit. From this, our cadets develop skills both basic and advanced which can be used in different environments. Within the Unit, we have a variety of stores and equipment which we make available during lesson which our cadets can explore with both in lesson and in a scenario. 13.01.2022 #AFXready With the 2020 SA AAC Brigade AFX fast approaching, 49 ACU has been conducting preparation activities to ensure our Recruits & Cadets are well prepared for the outfield phase of their course. Last night the Recruits & Cadets, apart of their recruiting induction were taught prepare and consume rations. In the lesson they were taught safety considerations, meal planning, and how to cook using field equipment. ... On the menu was an option between beef or chicken 2 minute noodles.

09.01.2022 Last night the Commander and RSM visited 49ACU Smithfield. Colonel Ridgway checked out first hand just why CUO Nick Hall was nominated and received a Bronze Com...mendation. His efforts in dramatically improving the training with in his Unit is to be commended. The Commander was very impressed with the tenacity, completeness and layout of CUO Hall’s training regime for the Unit. Well done. See more

09.01.2022 Drill A big part of cadet life is drill. Another significant element to the recruiting package enables recruits to begin learning basic drill movements which they will build on throughout their cadet career. Cadets apply these skills every parade night for our Administration Parade, plus additional lessons on occasion. Cadets can also use these skills at community events such as ANZAC Day Dawn Services and City Parade and other commemorative events. 05.01.2022 Over this past weekend, our NCOs and Staff conducted a development weekend to formally commence our new training program. A variety of sessions and lessons were conducted from personal / team development, to explicit teaching on factors which are apart of our new training program. Development weekends provide a significant part in enabling our NCOs to establish a strong and well planned training objective to ensure our cadets receive the best delivery and quality of learning made possible.



02.01.2022 Leadership Last night we received a visit from the SA AAC Brigade Commander, Colonel Simon Ridgway and RSM Ian Jeisman. During the evening the Commander and RSM spoke with the parents, cadets and NCOs about COVID safety as well as the progression and expansion of the cadet Brigade.

02.01.2022 With preparations underway for returning to parading, staff and the senior chain of command released a poster challenge to our cadets and NCOs.
