Never has it been more important for our Council to stay connected with our community with the recent closure of many regional newspapers, including 'The Northern Miner,' as well as COVID-19 restrictions. The Gold Edition is about keeping our community informed about what Council is working on now, what is coming up and feeding back about recent projects and initiatives - like Council’s plea for a new hospital and increased specialty services. So whether you are reading our interactive digital version on your computer, mobile or tablet, please sit down, grab a cuppa and enjoy! And yes, printed copies will be available in the coming days from the Visitor Information Centre, Excelsior Library, The World Theatre and Council’s Administration Centre. For our townships Greenvale, Homestead, Pentland and Ravenswood: copies will be available from post office outlets in the coming days. 21.01.2022 BREAKING: From 1am on Thursday, October 1, we’re increasing the number of people who can gather at venues and events, as long as it’s outdoors. It means busine...sses like outdoor dining, beer gardens, theme parks and zoos, can increase the number of patrons outdoors from one per 4 square metres to one per 2 square metres. The maximum number of attendees permitted at events with a COVID Safe Checklist will increase from 500 to 1,000 per day. Seated capacity at outdoor stadiums, amphitheatres and outdoor performance venues with a COVID Safe Plan can increase from up to 50% to up to 75%. This is another safe, measured step to support Queensland businesses and ensure the economy rebounds - not the virus. #covid19

Flinders Shire Council wishes to advise the community that the Flinders Sports Ground will be locked until further notice. Unfortunately due to members of the public deliberately climbing and breaking the net that protects the power boxes inside the Flinders Sports Ground, general access to this facility will be restricted to hirers only. We hope the people that are mistreated the facilities realise the inconvenience they have caused the community and visitors.

On this day there will be school camp activities held on and around the Lake from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
