20.01.2022 Soon to complete construction. Alterations and additions to a bungalow in a heritage precinct. Including restoration to the front veranda and replacing an earlier unsympathetic extension to the rear of the house.

17.01.2022 It’s a little bit too North America for Sydney, I think. But, for some reason I’m strangely attracted. I hope not like a moth to a flame.

15.01.2022 Alterations and additions to an original Pettit + Sevitt 3136, which had been substantially damaged by termites. The 3136 stands for the original footprint of the home, 31 feet by 36 feet. The new layout takes advantage of the lot’s rural outlook, looking down a beautiful valley through the natural sandstone and shale forestry. Providing indoor/outdoor living space, while also increasing floor space and usability of most rooms throughout the house. Being a Pettit + Sevitt design, I became a little daunted after Tim Ross’s Streets of your Town presentation at last year’s Building Designers of Australia conference. Having said that I’m very happy with the design outcomes; I believe the new layout is very sympathetic to the original, while meeting all of the clients original brief.

11.01.2022 Brutalist architecture, its amazing how many hate it. It’s a statement that didn’t need to be made. But I don’t think it’s a great idea to demolish it all because of that.

03.01.2022 Today I enrolled with Smart Plus Academy, for next years Certified Passive House Designer course. I’m really looking forward to taking the course and working with my future clients, to provide them with design solutions that are not only simply functional and beautiful, but also more energy efficient and healthier for them in the long run. A a collective, we have homes and sheds filled to the brim with STUFF. To our fire victims, once donated, these things could be all they have. Clothing, bedding, TVs, computers, mobile phones, children's toys, furniture. What do you have laying around that you could donate?
