25.01.2022 Days 246 - 250 Launceston, Ben Lomond & Tamar Valley After 3 days in Tassie we finally made a decision - we will travel clockwise - so we headed to Launceston! We based ourselves at Old Macs farm, a great low cost camp right next to town! We set up and got comfortable only to be evacuated the second night due to flooding! . All good though, the next day we had beautiful clear skies, the water receded and were able to move back into camp. ... While in Launceston we checked out the museum, art gallery, city park (complete with its own monkeys ) and did some walks and the chair lift at Cataract Gorge. We also used Launceston as a base to see Ben Lomond NP and Tamar valley. Ben Lomond NP was just spectacular. One of the major winter ski fields, Ben Lomond village sits 1500m high on an alpine plateau. The view was incredible and the drive up and down Jacobs Ladder was awesome!! In Tamar Valley Eva really wanted to go to seahorse world, so we did the tour and got to hold a seahorse! We then stopped at Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage centre for a few hours, the girls were entertained with all the interactive displays and worksheet they were given, while we adults immersed ourselves in history of the town and mine, from the most recent devastating events right back to when the mine first started! #4wardsmovingforward #np300 #benlomond #benlomondnationalpark #tamarvalley #oldmacsfarm #launcestontasmania #benlomondsummit #cataractgorge #seahorseworld #seahorseworldtasmania #beaconsfield #beaconsfieldmineandheritagecentre #beaconsfieldmine #launcestoncity #jacobsladder #jacobsladdertasmania #discovertasmania #visittasmania #seetasmania #exploretasmania #instatasmania #tasmania #tasmaniagram #tawk #wikicamps #travellingwithkids #travellingaustraliawithkids #travellingaustralia #lapofoz @ Ben-Lomond-Nationalpark

19.01.2022 Days 242 - 245 - Spirit of Tasmania, Devonport, Devils Gullet, Mole Creek Caves & Sheffield Tassie - What can we say....so far it’s just beautiful! Our first 4 days have been full of adventure and beautiful sights! Spirit of Tasmania - we did a day sail and thankfully had a really smooth crossing. We based ourselves on the top deck next to the playground + kids tv and broke up the day by watching the 1pm movie! Word of warning, take lots of snacks!! ... Once off the ferry, we headed straight to the free camp at Forth recreation grounds, where we based ourselves while exploring Devonport and berry picking at Turners Beach Berry Patch! We then moved onto another free camp at Railton. From here we did a day trip into the mountains to Devils Gullet lookout and Mole Creek caves. Devils Gullet is absolutely spectacular, standing atop the 220m cliff face you can see the entire Cradle Mountain-Lake St Claire world heritage area and Tasmania’s highest peak Mt Ossa! Mole creek caves were different to any caves we have been in before, these caves have a waterfall and river running through them and the girls were mesmerised by the glow worms! We also spent half a day walking around Sheffield. Sheffield is a cute little town with a beautiful mountain backdrop! We watched glass marbles being made in the marble shop, had our first Scallop Pie and enjoyed all the beautiful murals throughout town! #4wardsmovingforward #np300 #condorcaravans #spiritoftasmania #devonport #molecreekcaves #sheffield #forthrecreationgrounds #turnersbeachberrypatch #devilsgullet #muralart #murals #sheffieldmurals #tasmania #visittasmania #exploretasmania #seetasmania #lovetasmania #tawk #travellingwithkids #travellingaustralia #travellingaustraliawithkids #travelaustralia #travelaustraliawithkids #travelwithkids #lovethislife #tasmaniaadventure @ Sheffield, Tasmania

16.01.2022 Days 237 - 241 Melbourne & surrounds On the way to Melbourne we did an overnighter in Geelong so we could catch up with one of our fav families we met on the road, we timed it perfectly so the girls could help their Lily to celebrate her birthday (and we all got cake ). Happy birthday Lily! In Melbourne we did the typical touristy stuff:-... caught a tram around the city walked along St Kilda beach and jetty watched fairy penguins at St Kilda breakwater visited the Brighton beach houses caught the safari bus around Werribee Zoo stepped back in time at Werribee mansion went to platform 9 3/4 at the Harry Potter shop were fascinated by St Paul’s Cathedral explored the scienceworks museum & pump station checked out the Docklands precinct We’ll be back in Melbourne for a few days when we return from Tassie, so if you have any must see places we didn’t get to the first time let us know!! #4wardsmovingforward #brightonbeach #brightonbathingboxes #melbourne #melbournetram #stkilda #stkildabreakwater #stkildapenguins #brightonbeachboxes #werribeezoo #safaribus #werribeemansion #harrypottershop #harrypotter9 #docklandsmelbourne #melbournestar #tawk #travelaustralia #travelaustraliawithkids #travelwithkids #travellingaustralia #travellingwithkids #travellingaustraliawithkids #adventureofalifetime #noworkforme #lovethislife #visitvictoria #visitmelbourne #visitvic #visitvictoriaaustralia @ Brighton Bathing Boxes

15.01.2022 Days 226 - 227 Grampians We made it to Victoria and headed straight to the Grampians. It feels like ages since we’ve done a good challenging bush walk and the Grampians have so many to choose from. We choose to do the Pinnacle, Mackenzie falls and a few lookouts! ... There are a few different tracks to the Pinnacle, we did the 4.2km return walk from the Wonderland Carpark. It was a great walk, all up hill, going through the Grand Canyon and Silent Street before reaching the Pinnacle. The view at the top is incredible! Coming back down was challenging as we picked a rainy morning to do the walk so the rocks were extra slippery! The next day was still drizzling and cold, instead of doing another walk in the rain we headed south to Nigretta and Wannon falls, both of which only had a trickle of water. From there we went to Byaduk Caves, these caves are lava tubes similar to what we saw in North Queensland, except here there are no ladders, stairs or boardwalks. There are 3 caves where the roof of the lava tube has collapsed. We were able to climb down the rocks into cave one, put on our headlamps and do a bit of exploring. It was pretty cool going into a dark cave, we didn’t go too far in because it was dark, the rocks were slippery and there were bats , but you could explore for ages with the right equipment. #4wardsmovingforward #np300 #condorcaravans #grampians #grampiansnationalpark #pinnaclegrampians #pinnacle #mackenziefalls #grandcanyongrampians #nigrettafalls #wannonfalls #byadukcaves #plantationcampground #lavatubes #victoria #seevictoria #thisisvic #explorevictoria #cavesvictoria #visitvictoria #visitvictoriaaustralia #australia #tawk #wikicamps #travel #travelwithkids #travelaustraliawithkids #travellingaustralia #travellingaustraliawithkids #travellingwithkids @ Grampians, Victoria, Australia

15.01.2022 Days 228 - 233 - Portland & Warrnambool We’ve slowed down a bit and had a relaxing few days exploring the surrounds of Portland and Warrnambool. Our Highlights of Portland were the lighthouse and the hop on-hop off foreshore tram, the little museum inside the tram station (donation) was also great! We went to check out the blowhole but it was too calm so nothing was happening, not sure we’ll find another blow hole as good as Quobba!! ... Warrnambool.... well Warrnambool was freezing! . We are struggling with this Victorian version of summer, on the plus side everything is amazingly green & it’s great everyone is getting some rain!! Fortunately (for us), we got one sunny warmish day and we were able to spend a few hours at Lake Pertobe, the kids loved the multiple playgrounds and Jason got chased by an angry swan . Between Portland and Warrnambool is Tower Hill, we spent a few hours here doing some short walks as part of the volcano trail we’ve been doing since Mt Gambier. We generally don’t see too much wildlife on our walks (mostly because we are so loud the critters run away long before we arrive) but at Tower Hill we saw 4 Koalas, 4 emu, a snake, a big lizard and an echidna! #4wardsmovingforward #portlandvictoria #warrnambool #warrnambool3280 #lighthouse #lighthousesofinstagram #lighthouses #lakepertobe #blackswan #blackswans #victoria #seevictoria #thisisvic #explorevictoria #visitvictoria #visitvictoriaaustralia #australia #tawk #wikicamps #travel #travelwithkids #travelaustralia #travelaustraliawithkids #travellingaustraliawithkids #travellingaustralia #travellingwithkids #noworkforme #adventure #adventureofalifetime #loveaustralia @ Portland, Victoria

11.01.2022 It’s with heavy hearts we announce a pause to our travels, we will head back to QLD as soon as we can. We are currently in Tasmania and are reliant on the Spirit of Tasmania to move on, but we’ve brought forward our ferry date to the earliest available sail on 4 April and are limiting our travels around Tassie until we sail out! Unless there is a full lockdown preventing us from leaving we will head straight to family property in QLD and isolate for 14 days, observing any... other isolation requirements along the way! While this is not the end we planned to our travels we have absolutely no regrets! We have had an unbelievable 8.5 months travelling our wonderful country, seeing the amazing and beautiful sights and spending quality time together as a family. When Australian gets through this COVID-19 crisis, and we will, we urge all of you to see Australia first! Our tourism operators, our small businesses, our rural towns and our cities will need your business. So before you head overseas, take a holiday here, in Australia, see your home country, it is such a diverse and beautiful country, full of wonderful people, you won’t regret it Take care and stay safe xxx #4wardsmovingforward

09.01.2022 Days 218 - 220, Monarto Zoo, Tailem Bend and Kingston SE Monarto Zoo, we LOVED it. We loved driving through the open plains and having the animals come right up to the bus, we loved watching the exclusive lions experience from within the enclosure, on the bus (we think we got a better view than the people having the experience). We especially loved getting close up to a white Rhino and being able to pat him, it was absolutely incredible and was part of the keepers talk s...o there was no extra charge!! Tailem Bend, as V8 fans we naturally checked out the V8 track and spent an adrenaline filled morning on the Go Karts! Tandem Karts meant Jason could take both girls for a race and then have a few races by himself in the faster Karts! If you’re a Big4 member make sure you ask for discount here, we didn’t know and almost missed out, luckily another couple asked while we were booking in! We then headed south along the Coorong to a low cost camp at Kingston SE, what a great spot! $10 for a 48hour permit; the jetty, beach, playground, shops, toilets, dump point and fresh water are all within short walking distance. Plus if you park on the playground/toilet side you can access the free SA WIFI network. We explored Kingston, Cape Jaffa and Robe from here! #4wardsmovingforward #monartosafari #monartozoo #monartosafaripark #whiterhino #lion #tailembendmotorsportpark #tailembend #tandemkart #kartingatthebend #thebend #gokarting #kingstonse #lowcostcamping #robejetty #robesa #kingstonsejetty #zoo #zoos #thisissa #southaustralia #seesouthaustralia #exploresouthaustralia #tawk #wikicamps #travelling #travellingaustralia #travellingwithkids #travellingaustraliawithkids #travelwithkids @ Monarto Safari Park

09.01.2022 Well we’re back in QLD. What a massive 36 hours boarded the Spirit of Tasmania yesterday morning at 8:00am for 9:50am departure disembarked at 7:45pm... 380km out of VIC & into NSW before calling it a night at midnight up at 6am ready for a massive drive day 14 hours and 1200km later we’ve crossed into QLD and arrived at our destination We have to commend the girls, they did remarkably well being stuck in a cabin and car for 2 days straight! Lucky we have some room to run around for the next few weeks! This ends our trip for now, while we wait and see what happens with COVID-19 and work out what our next step is. Thank you all for following our incredible journey! We will have the opportunity over the next few weeks to sort through our 1000’s & 1000’s of photos so we may add some more bits of our trip as we go!

07.01.2022 Eva was loving all the interactive displays at Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre. We spent hours exploring! #4wardsmovingforward #beaconsfieldmineandheritagecentre #discovertasmania #tasmaniagram #instatasmania

05.01.2022 Little Blue Lake has a water temp of 12 degrees! To my surprise everyone got in. Took awhile for Eva to jump in, but after she did we couldn’t get her to stop! #4wardsmovingforward #sinkhole #sinkholes #littlebluesinkhole #southaustralia #mustvisit

05.01.2022 Days 221 - 225 Mount Gambier & surrounds Yet another place we loved! Volcano’s, lakes, caves, sink holes and beautiful gardens!! The town itself is great, there are so many beautiful old stone buildings and amazing gardens, including the Umpherston sink hole. The discovery centre within the info centre was interesting and the kids absolutely loved the library, we went back twice during our stay ! ... The star attraction was the blue lake, it’s absolutely stunning. We did the aquifer tour so got to go down to the pump station on the edge of the lake where we saw long neck turtles swimming in the crystal clear water! On the way into Mount Gambier we did the Tantanoola caves and on the way out the Naracoorte caves. Naracoorte caves were great because they are an active dig site where they are unearthing mega fauna fossils, we could see the actual dig sites and the markers in the side of the cave labelling the age of each dirt layer. We also took a day trip south to Port Macdonnell and Piccaninnie Ponds. Piccaninnie ponds is a pretty cool wetlands right next to the ocean, but filled by freshwater springs. It would be amazing to snorkel or dive through the ponds and into the limestone cave systems which form these wetlands, but was a bit to cold for us! @ Mount Gambier, South Australia, Australia

04.01.2022 Mabel absolutely loved the playground here at Lake Pertobe! Flying fox was her favourite!

02.01.2022 Girls loved experiencing the horse drawn cart over to granite island! #4wardsmovingforward #graniteisland #victorharbor #horsedrawncarriage #horsedrawn #horsedrawnwagon #seesouthaustralia #exploresouthaustralia #thisissouthaustralia #thisissa

01.01.2022 Days 234-236 Great Ocean Road We were blessed with spectacular weather for most of the Great Ocean Road! Day 1 - the Great Ocean Road western half. The cliff coastline is absolutely stunning and we were super lucky to be able to pull in with the Van at all the stops we wanted, as some spots only have a couple long vehicle parks! We were however underwhelmed with the 12 Apostles, it was probably the most tourists we’ve seen at one attraction on our lap so far! Maybe with... a different light and less busy we would have loved it... Day 2 - Apollo Bay to Lorne. This stretch is absolutely magic and we were glad to have unhooked to explore as there are very few places to pull off with a van. We also managed to squeeze in walks to 3 waterfalls. Day 3 - Lorne to Torquay. First stop Split Point Lighthouse, Shyanne had to stop here....it’s the Round the Twist lighthouse!!! Next stop Great Ocean Road chocolate factory for lunch! Not unlike other chocolate factories we’ve been too, except this one has a massive yard, sandpit, veggie garden and chicken coup to keep the kids entertained. Our next stop was Bells Beach just so we could watch all the surfers in the freezing water Our only regret along the Great Ocean Road is we couldn’t stay longer. We would have loved to explore Great Otway National Park, but we had prebooked ahead so needed to move on . Next time!! #4wardsmovingforward #np300 #lochardgorge #12apostles #greatoceanroad #erskinefalls #teddyslookout #roundthetwist #roundthetwistlighthouse #lighthouses #lighthousesofinstagram #victoria #seevictoria #thisisvic #explorevictoria #visitvictoria #visitvic #visitvictoriaaustralia #victoriaaustralia #australia #tawk #travel #travelwithkids #travelaustraliawithkids #travelaustralia #travellingwithkids #travellingaustraliawithkids #travellingaustralia #adventureofalifetime #loveaustralia @ Loch Ard Gorge
