So happy that I've finally been able to get my hands on the EvaKool DC40-DRW-S 40L Drawer Fridge Freezer for my Camper 2.0 Project and as usual, Snowys Outdoors have been my go to store. 24.01.2022 Uh Oh The bearing failed on one of the swing away arms on my MCC 4x4 Accessories rear wheel carrier yesterday. I'd noticed a bit of play and when I popped the weather seal found the grease was a mix of black and white, meaning water had penetrated somewhere along the way. By the end of the day, it was a struggle to move the swing away arm. Once home, I pulled it all apart to find that indeed the bearing was cactus. I've been meaning to remove that swing away arm for awhile a...nd now I have a reason, so even once I've sourced a new bearing, the second spare can have a rest until the next remote trip. 23.01.2022 Kool Camper I was lucky enough to check the Snowys Outdoor webpage last week and picked up one of the last EvaKool 40L Drawer Fridge/Freezers for another couple of months. This is the new model that now uses a Secop PBC 2.5 compressor and the drawer extends more giving easier access to the back section. So why did I choose the EvaKool DC40 DRW-S for my Camper 2.0 Project? ... 1. A drawer fridge was the only option for the top section of my camper due to the narrow opening of 420mm. 2. The EvaKool is the only fridge/freezer combo available in a drawer at the moment, with operating temperatures between -18 and 10 degrees. On my long trips I like to run a freezer for all my cryovaced ready made meals. 3. It fits the space perfectly. 4. The reviews of the previous model were generally positive. 5. EvaKool is Australian, so my fridge is designed for my Outback adventures. Installation was simple and once I'd lined up the mounting plate and screwed it down, the EvaKool slid easily into its place, with four screws in the front locking it into place. I love that it has an Anderson style plug, making it a safe and secure connection with my fused cable run to the Projecta PM300. I'm heading off on a Victorian Desert trip soon, so it will get a great workout for that adventure and many more in the future. 22.01.2022 Freedom That's what it felt like, camped right beside the Murray River, so many months since I last did it. It may have only been for a solitary night, but it was so refreshing. The cockatoos, magpies, whistling kite all made me feel welcome, as the icy water flowed slowly by. It'll be a while before I can do it again, border restrictions making it hard to get away, for now. 20.01.2022 The Karunjie Track: remote Kimberley beauty If you want to experience a different side to the Kimberley, the Karunjie Track is one of the best ways to do it. Whilst not seriously challenging at the end of August, it's seriously remote and care must be taken, especially when crossing the black soil watercourses. I did it solo and loved the stunning views, the solitude and a side of the Cockburn Ranges rarely seen. To say I'm looking forward to getting back there to do it again... is an understatement. 17.01.2022 Sneak Peek As Camper 2.0 closes in on completion, the new rooftop tent is in the process of being mounted securely on the camper roof. 12 new holes had to be drilled and protected from rust, water and dust before the load bars could be added. It took three of us, including my beautiful wife, to lift the tent up and onto the load bars. There are still a couple of mounts to be installed, wiring for power and external lights to be connected, awning and shower tent to be install...ed and then all will be revealed as I head off into the sunset for a week of work in the desert region of Victoria.
