22.01.2022 Hi All FICU sub-committee members, Over the past month a lot has changed and unfortunately some great workers have resigned their positions due to unbelievable circumstances. As usual in times of change things get blown out of proportion and Chinese whispers create mountains out of issues that could have been resolved by better communication.... This committee is full of passionate people who spend countless hours to co-ordinate and run one of the largest beach clean-ups in the world. This passion and commitment is great for the event but also can give rise to disruption and anguish when people feel they have great ideas that are not supported by the majority. I have seen this occur on several occasions over the past 6 years while on the Management Committee and have also witnessed how the FICU sub-committee pulls together, rally’s new members and uses this to provide new enthusiasm to make the event better every year. It is important to reflect on why we run this event. It’s good for the community, it’s a great celebration how our close 4wd community can rally together to clear tons of rubbish off one of the worlds most iconic destinations and its good for our younger members to witness the comradeship and true meaning of being responsible users of the environment. I will be calling for new volunteers at our next reps meeting and asking the FICU secretary to call a meeting next month to bring everyone up to date and create a list of jobs so we can get things moving again. Thank you for your continued support Shane Rose President 4WD Queensland.

11.01.2022 Sent out by QPWS to all permit holders this morning. Dear vehicle access permit holders, The visitation of the Bribie Island Recreation Area has been increasing over the past few years and this trend is likely to continue for the foreseeable future.... The Bribie Island Recreation area was declared a restricted access area in June 2020 under the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service’s (QPWS) approved COVID Safe Industry Plan. During these COVID-19 restrictions, limits have been in place for the number of people and vehicles able to visit this popular recreation area. A person can only enter the restricted access area in a vehicle when they hold both an authority to enter the restricted access area and a valid vehicle access permit. For day-trippers, RAAAs are free but must be obtained to avoid being turned around at the entrances or risk a fine. Even existing vehicle permit holders with an annual pass still require an RAAA authority for the days they intend to visit these recreation areas. Each RAAA covers all passengers in the vehicle. For campers, a restricted access area authority (RAAA) is included in the camping permit and covers all people list on the permit. The camping permit must be displayed for the duration of the camping period and be presented to rangers for inspection when entering the recreation area. There is a limited number of RAAAs available with the number capped at 500 per day. RAAAs are single day-use only and visitors will need a valid RAAA for each day they intend to visit the restricted access area. To avoid disappointment, we are reminding all day visitors to make sure they have a vehicle access permit and an RAAA before heading to the Bribie Island Recreation Area. RAAAs are not transferrable so please plan ahead and only book RAAAs for the days you intend to visit the Bribie Island Recreation Area to ensure the limited supply is available to other park users. QPWS Rangers will be continuing to patrol the beaches and ensuring all visitors have the appropriate permits.

09.01.2022 We received the below this morning from QPWS. Covid passes no longer needed for annual pass holders. RAAA update - Annual permit holders will no longer be required to obtain an RAAA Good news for campers and four wheel drivers as the restricted access areas declared for Cooloola and Bribie Island recreation areas as part of COVID-19 restrictions will be more accessible to annual permit holders from Tuesday 3rd November. The restrictions were put in place for safety reasons... to regulate the number of people entering the area to limit large gatherings in these popular destinations. An email will be sent out to annual vehicle access permit holders to advise them of the change. Further information: https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/park-alerts/20064 https://qpws.usedirect.com/qpws/
