15.01.2022 Last week the Broad Arrow Tavern made a decision... "Hi guys! We regret to inform you that we will no longer be allowing people to write on our walls. Sadly, we... live in a world now where there is just little to no respect, not only are some people writing and drawing inappropriate things but they are also writing over all the old signatures too and we want to try and preserve as much of the old stuff as we can. Thank you for your understanding." While some were disappointed. Most commended the management's decision to "preserve the history they had" and many took the opportunity to reflect on what a special pub it was. "This place is a part of my soul" wrote Tabitha on the Tavern's Facebook Page. Have you ever been to the Broad Arrow Tavern? Did you leave your mark there? Do you remember what you wrote? Share your memories here.. Broad Arrow was once a thriving goldfields town between Kalgoorlie and Menzies. The traditional owners, the Wangkathaa Aboriginal people, called the area 'kurawah'. In 1900 the town had a population of 2,400 with eight hotels, two breweries, a stock exchange and a large hospital. Today Broad Arrow is a ghost town, only the Tavern remains. Where travellers can stop for an ice cold beer and (until now) to write a note on its walls. 11.01.2022 With school holidays rapidly approaching and in light of the little boy that went missing last week in Yallingup I have made this video with some tips on how to... keep your children safe while enjoying the great outdoors. My tips include dressing them in brightly coloured clothing. It's amazing the difference it makes. Provide them with a whistle and teach them to blow it only if they get into distress. With very small children tie bells to their shoes. Teach them to make friends with a tree - give it a name, and stay with their new friend until someone comes to help. Packing a small pack with 'survival' gear for them may also help in a situation like this.
