23.01.2022 ACKNOTE 08/20 SUSPENSION OF AUSTRALIAN ARMY CADET ACTIVITIES OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY 1. Direction. This ACKNOTE directs the suspension of Australian Army Cadet (AAC) activities, with caveats, to take affect at midnight (2359hrs) on 16 Mar 20. 2. Overview. Government and Defence have enacted a series of measures to reduce and slow the risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading within the Australian Community. The AAC program is undertaken within the community and... the Army and Community partnership is at its core. It has been assessed that, at this time, the greatest contribution the AAC can make to our Nation is to suspend all community-based and public cadet activities in order to assist in slowing the spread of COVID-19. This measure will assist in protecting both the wider community and those members of the AAC who are assessed as potentially vulnerable (ie. over 30% of AAC members are in the vulnerable category due to age or specific pre-existing medical conditions). 3. Suspensions. The following activities are suspended: All parade nights undertaken in Community Based Units. All weekend bivouac and overnight activities. All cadet activities undertaken within the community. This includes fund raising, sausage sizzles, and public recruiting activities. All ceremonial support activities undertaken within the community. This includes support to ANZAC Day activities. All cadet courses camps. All field exercises. This includes the National Adventure Training Award. All unnecessary AAC staff travel, visits, meetings and gatherings. 4. Caveats. The following activities may continue: Cadet activities conducted within School Based Units where the cadet activity is contained within the school and conducted as part of the normal school co-curricular activities. This only pertains to short-duration day activities within school grounds during the school week. This is to occur within the guidance of the State/Territory Education Departments or relevant Education Authority, ie Catholic Education system or specific school policy. Cadet activities conducted within Banksia Hill Detention Centre Cadet Unit. Adult Leader Development Courses will continue however attendees will be required to make health declarations prior to attending. 5. Timings. Key Timings are: Suspensions take affect at midnight (2359hrs) on 16 Mar 20. These suspension remain in force until 1 May, after which additional constraints may continue to be applied. 6. Conclusion. The AAC is core to the partnership between Army and the Australian Community. Suspending AAC activities at this time is seen as a positive step in supporting the Nation during a period when we all have a moral responsibility to reduce and slow the risk of COVID-19. Please direct any questions to the OC. CAPT (AAC) Wade Adams [email protected]
22.01.2022 Over the period of the 4th - 13th January, the Brigade conducted the 2019 Cadet Under Officer and Cadet Warrant Officers Courses. We saw 47 Cadet Sergeants fro...m across WA attend, supported by 25 Cadet, ACS and ADF staff members. This course is the final training package delivered to Cadets, providing the knowledge for promotion to the rank of either Cadet Warrant Officer Class Two or Cadet Under Officer. These Cadets will now lead, mentor and train their subordinate Cadets at unit, battalion and brigade activities as senior leaders. The 10 days held at Leeuwin Barracks, Fremantle, focused on training Cadets in platoon level Leadership, human behaviour and mentoring, the Duties and Responsibilities of their roles, Command Post fundamentals, as well as largely on preparing training at unit level, amongst other content. We will have a video with the remainder of the course photo’s uploaded to this page in the near future. Thank you to 2LT(AAC) Smith for these stunning photo’s.

12.01.2022 Good Evening Everyone, I am very pleased to Inform you that as of Tuesday 21st July. We are back in operation. So, There are a few changes to be had which we will explain to you when you arrive for parade but please note the following:... FIRSTLY: There will be no meals provided until further notice as we have to make changes to the catering arrangements because of COVID19.. So either bring your dinner in, eat beforehand or wait until you get home. There will be soft drinks on sale at Mid time break. DRESS: DPCU, Hats KFF or Bushhat if you are a recruit. FEES: If you have paid your fees for 1st semester, there will be no requirement to pay for second semester as those fees have been waived. If you haven’t paid your first semester fees, then you still owe $120 for the rest of the year. All Parents need to come and see staff before you depart as we need a COVID19 consent form signed. If you do not present to sign, then I will have no option but to phone you and have you come back. I’m afraid there is no option on this. There is a form on attached to the news segment on Team App where you can download and sign if you are time poor when you drop your cadet off. Thank you for your patience over the past four months. I’m sure your cadet is chomping at the bit to get back into parading on Tuesday nights and we will do our best to keep them occupied and back into the training . Kind Regards Capt (AAC) Wade Adams Officer Commanding 501 ACU Como.
