24.01.2022 Chrismas holidays means one thing... COURSES !!! Out very own CDTSGT Scott has made his way on the 10th of January to Leeuwin Barracks in Perth to go on the Warrant Officers course along side other cadets all over WA On this course he will learn how to be a Warrant Office and if he passes (which we all know he will) he’ll be promoted to a Cadet Warrant Officer Class 2. The course consisted of lots of theory, practical drill lessons, leadership tests in the, barracks and o...ut in the field and had a large focus on dress and bearing, drill and discipline The cadets love these courses because they get to meet lots of other cadets from all over Western Australia and make life long friends within the brigade. Scott will be pushed to the limit on this 9 day course and we wish him the very best!!

23.01.2022 DINE IN NIGHT 2019 Last night 506ACU ditched the cams and suited up for a very special (and upsetting) occasion. On Saturday night we all attended a dinner to farewell our only female officer, LT(AAC) Jo de Kleer. Our Ma’am has been in cadets for 25 years, spending 17 of which at the Geraldton unit and the previous years before at the Busselton unit. LT de Kleer has not only kept our Qstore organised and orderly but has kept the whole unit in working order. Without her w...e are unsure how we’d operate. She is always there to give us a helping hand with cadet related issues and with life advice. She is a great shoulder to cry on and an even better person to confide in. She is a huge support for our unit and her absence is going to be felt through out the whole unit. We are going to deeply miss our ‘Tracker’ as she begins her new journey in Perth. She always told us we’d have to push her out of the gates in her zimmer frame but unfortunately her time with has been cut short. We are all going to miss you Ma’am, even though you’re going physically you’ve impacted our unit in more ways than one and will always be apart of 506 forever. Thankyou and good luck on your new chapter in life, we will all miss you We can’t wait to see you on AFX. From your second family, 506ACU Geraldton.

15.01.2022 25th of April The 25th of April marks a historic day in Australian history. It marks a day of sadness and mourning. But it is also a day to be proud of. A day to be proud to be Australian. Since 1919 this day has been engrained in Australian culture and has been commemorated by all. So we can remember those who fought for our safety and for our freedom. We would like to thank those who have served and are currently serving in our Australian Defence Force. You are brave, you ...are loyal, you are strong and you are so very appreciated. To show our appreciation 506ACU gathered at their driveways with their family’s early this morning with their candles to pay homage and respect to our ANZACs. We are saddened this year that we could not march down the street, chins held high. But are still nonetheless just as proud to be in our uniforms at the ends of the driveway. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget

14.01.2022 Today, we were proud to be joined by our youngest ever Army trainee officer - 5 year old James. James loves all things Army, and wants to be a soldier when he g...rows up. After going through a tough time with illness, the Starlight Children's Foundation Australia, with the support of ADFA, has been able to grant James’ wish to experience a day in the life of a soldier (including getting to wear his own specially-made uniform!) From getting a ride in a Bushmaster protected mobility vehicle, to helping some of our first year trainee officers set up shelters in the field, to meeting the ADFA Band (and getting to play the bass drum), James has had an amazing day we hope he never forgets. As a token to remember his special day, Foxtrot Squadron presented James with an Army teddy bear. We loved having James join us for the day, and we hope one day, when he’s grown up, he might return to ADFA as an Army officer cadet. #ADFA #youradf

13.01.2022 SUCCESS While we’ve been living up the holidays, our very own CDTSGT Scott has been at Leeuwin Barracks working hard! For the past 9 days Scott has been on his Warrant Officers course learning all he needs to know in order to be promoted to Warrant Officer Class 2. He had to pass all his written theory tests, his physical training, the navigation/ field phase and he had to pass a drill lesson test. The course is very intense and demanding, you are always on your feet a...nd it is not for the faint hearted We are super stoked to announce that CDTSGT Scott passes this course with flying colours which means he is now eligible for a promotion to CDTWO2 Here is what Ethan had to say about the course. I went in knowing a little bit of what was to come as I had attended the SNCO’s course the prior year. The course was challenging as we were constantly been assessed on our dress and bearing as well as our general subject knowledge. Our main assessments were on preparing and delivering a brief, plan a home training activity, prepare and deliver orders, plan a ceremonial parade ,delivery of a procedural drill lesson, cane and steyr drill and a drill lesson. Overall the course was challenging but enjoyable and would recommended that everyone aims to become a warrant officer or cadet under officer in there cadet careers. Well done Scott, we look forward to seeing what you’ve learnt

13.01.2022 FIRST NIGHT BACK / OPEN DAY Don’t forget to come along to our open day tomorrow and check us out ! Everyone is welcome... * if you’re an adult looking to do some volunteer work come down and say hello to our staff, we’d love the help

12.01.2022 ANOTHER PROMOTION Tonight we had the pleasure of promoting our newly qualified Warrant Officer CDTSGT Scott to a Warrant Officer Class 2 Scott joined cadets in 2016 and since then has excelled in all he’s done. He was shy at first but has developed into a strong confident young man and has been a huge help to the unit. He did awesome on his Junior Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course and did exceedingly well on Warrant Officers Course. ... Scott is well respected by his peers, he is not only considered a team mate but a friend by all. It was an easy decision by all to promote CDTWO2 Scott as he is an outstanding cadet and mentor We hope you enjoy your new role as the new Training WO2 and enjoy your new rank even more. Well deserved buddy, we cannot wait to see you in your new role

04.01.2022 Busy busy busy Tonight was the night we finally got back into the swing of things ! It was difficult coming back from months off of cadets and having to get back into routine, but we are getting there ... We had the Junior Leaders Course going over some revision, getting them back to the place we left off and just reminding them off what we’ve learnt prior to COVID. The cadets and recruits touched up on drill and we had some theory lessons from our Corporals Butler and Kane. The Signals course we have running for a select few cadets who have shown interest is also resuming. We hope to have them using the radios and using proper radio procedure with ease shortly! All in all, tonight was successful. Our Quartermaster even got the Q-Store organised... you wouldn’t read about it.

This preparation includes; training programs, touching up on orders and appreciations, cleaning, organising and resetting CadetNet passwords (when does it end). Our CUO, CSM and SGT are busy revising with the corporals so that’s they are all ready to give excellent lessons and give awesome orders. We also had a sneaky coffee/ Maccas break! ... 02.01.2022 Training Nights This was a whirlwind and we didn’t get the chance to take many photos! But the cadets all had a busy night! We had our Junior Leaders Candidates and our cadets on the Signals course all together learning about short term loan books and how the Q-Store works and Luther various admin procedures they need to know ... The recruits and cadets had a few drill and theory lessons, preparing ourselves for our next Bivouac (camp) for the year... GREENOUGH!!
