17.01.2022 Purpose Built: When you see features like 10K/10K noted on a piece of outerwear, this relates to the waterproof-breathable performance of the garment*. The firs...t number represents how much pressure is required to force water through the membrane, the higher the better. The second number represents how much moisture the membrane can transport away from inside the garment, the higher the better. Pictured are our fully seam-sealed XPRT Waterproof Jacket and Pant with an impressive 20K/18K waterproof/breathable rating. *Further info: The origins of these ratings are in a scientific lab, not the outdoors, but the bottom line is simple - the higher the rating, the more waterproof, and the more breathable the jacket or garments are. The first number is measured in mm (millimetres). If we were to place a 1x1 tube on the garment. How many mm could we pour into the tube before water starts leaking through? The second number equates to the amount of water (in grams) that can be released through 1sqm of fabric from the inside, in 24 hours. Meaning a 10K jacket could release 10,000g (10 litres) of water/vapour/perspiration through one square meter of fabric, in 24 hours.

04.01.2022 +++ How to ladder lace +++ Grab a pair of long shoelaces. Tip: Try this technique with the laces you have before buying brand new ones. If you own a pair of 5.1...1 boots, the laces they came with should be long enough. Start at one boots bottommost eyelets. Run a lace straight across the inside of the bottom row of eyelets, pulling the ends evenly upward on each side. Gently pull the end of each lace to the vertical eyelet directly above it, and push in each end. Cross each end over the boots tongue to the other side. Instead of pulling the ends immediately through the opposite sides eyelet, thread each lace under the vertical section created by the other lace. Pull each lace taught to secure the hold, and then thread each end into the next highest vertical eyelet. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you thread your laces through all of the eyelets. Tip: When crossing laces over the tongue, always follow the same pattern left over right or right over left for a uniform look. When you reach the top, you can tie your knot on the inside of the shoe, or thread the laces under the opposite sides last vertical section for additional tightening. Use a double or square knot to keep your laces from coming untied accidentally. Tip: If you have a lot of excess shoelace, wrap the ends around the boot at your ankle before tying your knot, and tuck the ends of the bow inside the boot to keep them out of the way. See more

For your k...nee pads to be efficient, they need to cover the areas of the body to be protected, as well as be comfortable enough to be worn for a prolonged period of time. There are two types of knee pads - inserts that are placed into "kneepad ready" pockets in your tactical pants, such as the Taclite Pro, 5.11 Stryke Pant or police and military uniform pants - and external knee pads. These are worn over your pants and affixed with adjustable, non-slip straps to hold them in the desired position.
