11.01.2022 Walk 9 of 52 on the 52 to Kilimanjaro Challenge raising money for the Mirror of Hope C.B.O via https://gofund.me/017163c6 Today we wanted to go and search out s...ome more of the rare Pink Flannel flowers without the crowds at Narrow Neck in Katoomba so we headed up the State Mine Gully Road and were delighted by a great display of these flowers known as bushfire ephemerals because their seeds only germinate after fire for a once in a lifetime display. Just beyond the flowers amongst the pagodas we found great views back down the gully to Lithgow but we kept walking along the road into Newnes State Forest up to Old Bells Line of Road before turning back. The road is extremely popular with 4WDers so was rather dusty alot of the time but turned out to be a gold mine for cans and bottles with 84 collected on our walk. We had the pleasure of being joined by Geoffrey and Kane today, thanks for joining us lads. Todays stats 14023 steps, 10.65 kms, 520 cals and 84 bottles for return to earn. Check out our previous post for our Kombucha and Sauerkraut fundraiser launched last week. 11.01.2022 Walk 8 of 52 on the 52 to Kilimanjaro Challenge raising money for the Mirror of Hope C.B.O via https://gofund.me/017163c6 Today we tackled the Glowworm Tunnel i...n the Wollemi National Park. From Wolgan Valley Rd we headed along the Old Coach Road then across the Pogoda Track to them Glowworm Tunnel Track, after exploring the tunnel and checking out the glowworms we doubled backed and explored our way through Bell's Grotto Canyon and then had a 2nd crack at the tunnel. The track then followed the old railway track down the side of the cliffs back to the road. We managed to come across a lyrebird and a small patch of rare Pink Flannel flowers which only flower after a bushfire. Today's stats 15367 steps, 11.67 kms, 570 cal and 6 bottles for return and earn. 02.01.2022 Walk 7 of 52 in the 52 to Kilimanjaro Challenge raising money for the Mirror of Hope C.B.O via GoFundMe https://gofund.me/017163c6 Today we ventured up to Mt Vi...ctoria and started at Pulpit Rock before heading down the Zig Zag track and checking out the Bushrangers Cave. In 1897 an old fragment of an old Sydney newspaper was found here, dated 1822 with government notices referring to the escape of 4 prisoners which is why it is thought to be a bushrangers hideout. After some exploring we headed down to Rienets Pass Track and down to the waterfall before following the cliffs to Rienets Pass and then back to Pulpit Rock. Thanks to Geoffrey for joining us on the walk today. Todsys stats 6769 steps, 5.14 kms and 251 cals and 2 bottles for return and earn. Special mention to Lauren Takle who lost 3 teeth this week and has donated her $15 from the tooth fairy to our challenge fundraising. 02.01.2022 Painting the floors at work today and whilst literally watching paint dry we came up with a new way to raise funds for our #52tokilimanjarochallenge raising money for Mirror of Hope C.B.O which helps educate kids out of the Kibera slum in Nairobi. Instead of selling boxes of chocolate we are selling bottles, jars and boxes of Herbs of Life Kombucha and Sauerkraut. Kombucha is $5 a bottle or $50 for a dozen. Flavours available and ingredients attached in pictures. Sauerkrau...t comes in 2 sizes. In a 600g jar we have Green Cabbage, Ginger and Beetroot, Green Cabbage Ginger and Turmeric, Green Cabbage and Caraway, Red Cabbage and Caraway , Green Cabbage and Ginger, Green Cabbage, Ginger and Carrot and Green Cabbage and Seaweed. $18 a Jar or $98 for a box of 6. In a 350g jar we have Green Cabbage, Ginger and Beetroot, Green Cabbage Ginger and Turmeric, Green Cabbage and Caraway, Green Cabbage Kim Chi and Fermented Beetroot with Fennel. $12 a jar or $90 for a box of 8. All box quantities can be mixed flavours. I'm happy to deliver free of charge in the Blue Mountains and Lithgow areas. For delivery to Sydney metro area a flat rate of $10 for every 3 boxes is available and delivery to all other areas is available but I will quote you the price depending on location. 100% of proceeds go to our 52 to Kilimanjaro Challenge fundraiser so please consider supporting Kombucha and Kraut for a good cause.
